Crafting Machinery

It would be nice if I didn't have to craft every single thing in my inventory. Here Is my idea: Have a machine with an input and output that behaves like your internal crafting inventory. Of course, it would be preferred these machines would need to be extremely expensive and difficult to produce and should be very job specific and require a fuel source to operate. (Woodworking machines, bullet crafting machines, concrete mixing machines... etc.). If that's too much work I'd be completely happy with a standard machine that you can just pick a recipe from and put resources in. As it stands it's very tiresome to have to make everything in your inventory. Of course it's challenging in the beginning, but I don't like how I'm halfway into the game and I have to wait half an hour in my base for my concrete to finish and being allowed to do nothing else. Very painful. Thank you all for your suggestions and input.
You can actually close your inventory and do what you want while something is crafting.
By " I don't like how I'm halfway into the game and I have to wait half an hour in my base for my concrete to finish and being allowed to do nothing else." I was referring to how much of a pain it is to have your crafting queue filled, then continuously having to make objects you need for other purposes, like bandages, tools, metal strips, etc. It's not very fun being out adventuring with 128 cement and 128 gravel trying to juggle that, the tools for survival, and looting. You'd think there would be a concrete mixer you could make. I'm very well aware that you can actually do other things while crafting.

+1. When TFP focus more on items and crafting, I'm pretty sure they'll add more station gates (e.g: forge) for the higher quality crafted items like concrete and cobblestone. Be sure to look forward to electrically powered crafting stations!

Also the outbreak is over and I got my cable tv back. I then spend all of my game time on the couch imagining how I would react in a zombie apocalypse.

An example would be something like the ability to generate your own power source via generators, using gas or ethanol as a fuel source, making the generator itself would involve scavenging the necessary parts and wiring, using iron to build the frame etc. Then you could employ that engine to any type of functional machine ( ala modded MC), an obvious example would be to make a water purification machine, you will need to make the filters from paper and charcoal, craft them to shape, build the device itself and plan it in or around a valid replenishing water source. This shouldn't be a totally free way to make fresh water though, the noise of the generator will attract the odd Zombie, you will have to build protection for it and maintain the generator with a fuel source and the empty jars needed to store the water in etc It would be nice to be able to have a generator at your base for lighting, crafting machines and perhaps automated defenses, I'm not advocating a fully automated zombie proof scenario, just enough to take the pressure of the tedium of tasks so you can explore more and spend less time on day to day maintainance.
You can cook 60 jars of water at a time. Thats enough for a week or weeks in game. That's with just one camp fire. Why automate something that's already so easy?
Sure you can, but why not have the option to automate it and be able to do it faster or on a larger scale, say you have a whole community living and playing together, sure we can all make a fire and cook 60 jars..but it would be nice to have the centralised automation option. I just used that as an example, why not have automation on food production too, automated canning machines for meat etc. I guess if you have no interest in this side of things it wont make much sense to you.

I always run from point A to point B always, i never walk only if i built my base. Thats mean i need a HUGE amount of water and food. so your 60 water for weeks is only nice if you dont move in your base for weeks.

So if you want faster craft you need upgrade to tier 2... tier 3 and go on loot run and find the rare components needed.

I think a system similar to industrial craft for mine craft would work quite well. Have specialized machines that do specific jobs, (ovens, assembly tables, better forges, etc) they would be fairly expensive to craft but would do the jobs faster than the "primitive" options we have now. They could each have their own fuel slots for power, or if electricity is implemented, run off of a power source. Such machines would require many rare minerals and items to be added to the game first though, as the recipes would need to be complicated and expensive due to the usefulness of the items. If nothing else I would like to see a crafting bench added so you can craft multiple types of things at once.

Grilled uses no water and you can make bacon/eggs. Even boiled food still attracts zombies.

Thats why boiled meat is the choice of master survival players.
