What's the range of zombie spawns during a horde night?

Playing random gen, I claimed an old ruin as my base, playing horde every night, everything set to insane, 64 zeds, 150% zombie block damage.

One problem I've noticed is that it might be a bit too close to the water treatment facility.

What this means is zombies are spawned underground in the section of the plant that has the water and traps. They can't get out so they start to burrow.

Needless to say, with the settings I have, they ravaged the land.

My question is this then: what's the maximum distance from the player that zombies can spawn at? Is that modifiable somehow? Do PoIs affect it at all?

I will probably have to find a stretch of green and build from scratch there and I have a few promising sites but to avoid another case of mole-rat zombies, I wanna be sure the distance from nearby constructions is just right.

The range isn't too far, I can't quote numbers, but it's roughly "across the street" (you might need a largish house, but.. :) )

They should be spawning on terrain blocks, not concrete, and not under concrete .. not entirely sure of water blocks.. Maaaybe, because of the addition of swimming. Feels unlikely.

I suspect that they spawned somewhere else and tried to get to you through the plant, instead of actually spawning in there. They will try to get to your level as a priority, so if you happened to be in an underground part of your base, that might be it. Especially if the paths within your base are not navigable for the AI.

Of course, without seeing anything, I may well be wrong - but the behavior sounds weird enough to think there's something going on.

I'm pretty sure some of this depends on whether a land claim block is placed and the range of that block.  In multiplayer settings you can go up to 71 blocks in each direction for land claim areas (this also marks the same area in single player games).  Since LCBs prevent zombie spawns I would assume that hordes would start outside that border as well.

LCB's only block POI sleeper spawns. Not any others.

IIRC the range is something like 30-50 meters.

I double checked the range before I posted and it goes up to 71.  As for which spawns it blocks the description doesn't actually say, so I'll take your word on that one.

Not LCB range. I was referring to the bloodmoon spawn radius.  Also note that it's calculated from player position, not LCB position.

LCB only stops respawn of sleepers. No effect on horde night spawns. Matter of fact last horde night video I did they were spawning in my base with a LCB while I was on the street out front.
