OriginalMav
Hey everyone I've had a quick look around on the forums to see if anyone has had a similar issue on a19, but I couldn't find anything. I've recently started a server with friends that has been running without issue. My friends messaged me today saying that they couldn't hear zombies growl as they were approaching which caught them out. I haven't had this issue as they are noisy as hell for me. Just wondering if this is a glitch that can be fixed or if they are being soft haha. Any help would be great thanks

meganoth
Sounds are generated on the clients. The only link I can imagine would be the xml files that define zombies and their sounds. IF those were different on your server and on the clients then that might shut up zombies on the clients. Which brings me to the question: Do you have mods installed? If yes, tell your friends to install the mods as well. If not, maybe you do from a previous game and don't know, check the mods folder in your servers directory Note, there is a sticky thread in this forum section that tells you how to post your logfiles. If you had done that I could have answered the question above myself by just reading your logfile. If your answer is no, save yourself some time and post the logs (from server and one of the clients that has the problem)
OriginalMav
No mods installed on the server, and my friend has a fresh install on his rig so no issues around that. The only thing's I've changed in the xml files are the spawn rates and the gamestage progression. Only changed the number values in them which has been successful as far as I can tell. The only thing I've been able to whittle it down to is that my friend doesn't have a great internet connection and with them being initiated by the server this is what I am putting it down to. Or at least think this what is likely to cause the issue Would the change in the xml file on the server then come into conflict with the xml file on my friends pc? I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that as the configs are loaded as the game connects to the server so would pull the xml file data across with it. Would I be correct in thinking that this is how the server and player files interact?
BFT2020
Have you checked the logs of your friend? Even if they did a fresh install, they might still have mods installed and not realize it (the log will clarify). It would also be interesting to see if there are audio issues in the log. If the log is showing errors on loading sound files, that is a good indicator that something is wrong. If there are no errors in the logs, then something else locally is causing the issues. meganoth
Yes, the changed xmls will be transfered to the clients. That should not make any problems.
Star69
If the sounds are pretty frequent, you could capture a short video and post a link to it here so we can all hear it. As mentioned above, posting the output log of whichever player heard the sound in case the game logs it. I’m always up for a mystery!
