DarkHorizon1905
Hi together, I play 7dtd since a few Months now. Since a few Weeks my pc complete freezes if the Game is paused and rarely while i`m in game. I allready Validated my Game Data. Didn`t Change´anything. It only happens with this game! I can play other Games like AC Valhalla, Metal gear solid V, or Hitman 1 and 2. I`ve allready Updated all Drivers and the Bios. My Specs are: 700w Power Supply Asus Prime B450plus Mainboard Win10 x64 Home Ryzen 5 2600 Radeon RX 5700xt 16GB Corsair Vengeance Ram 2xSSD (Game on SSD) 3xHDD
SylenThunder
PC freezing is usually a PC issue. It only happens with this game, because only this game is taxing your hardware enough to trigger the problem. Not a single game you listed is an un-optimized Voxel game still in development. They're all AAA finished titles, and they aren't even 3D. Most likely culprit is the power supply, though it could be mis-matched RAM, poorly optimized hardware settings, incompatible software, or a number of other things. You need to troubleshoot your PC. Fox
What Sylen said. Also, what's your overclock settings set to? Stability comes and goes over time, especially when it comes to demanding games like this.

Ryzen can be a little weird with ram support. For instance, both of my Ryzen systems have to run at different settings than what the ram claims to handle as well as the motherboard's QVL says it can handle. Try temporarily lowering the ram's clock setting by a little bit and see if your game still freezes. If it doesn't freeze, then you know where the problem is. If it still freezes, then it's back to the drawing board. Which name brand / model is your power supply?
DarkHorizon1905
Good Morning. It`s a Coolermaster Masterwatt Lite 700 230V I have activated my XMP Profile in my Uefi after the first freezes happend. a few minutes ago i have deaktivated it and set the Dram Frequenzy to the Maximumm 2133 MHZ that Cpu-Z Says
7d2dMP
I think that you should verify your cpu/gpu heat when you have problems. Even when you pause the game (ESC key), the game is still making computations (i can hear my fan turning). So don't pause, quit the game !
Mihail
I had/have a similar problem and after a bit of digging the issue was AMD's drivers and Unity. What eventually fixed it was running the game in compatibility mode. I went into the game folder and right clicked on the executable (the EAC one) and ran the compatibility troubleshooter. I think the Win8 option got it.

Anyways, 2133 MHz is the default slow speed for maximum support / stability. If you're still getting freezes after setting it to that, then I agree that Mihail's GPU driver issue would be my next guess as AMD GPUs are known for poor support in gaming, including this one. EDIT: corrected info
DarkHorizon1905
Jep sry I've meant docp. Yesterday everything was running stable.
DarkHorizon1905
Seems like the reducing my Ram Frequency fixed the Freezes

And besids the naming, it is still the same. And using it, no matter if you call it XMP oder DOCP, has to be considered overclocking. And RAM is also affected by temperature. A few degrees more can be enough to make it fail with the same settings. So this can indeed also change over time.

Just one more reason why I'm not liking Asus lately then. Thanks for the correction.

Thanks for the correction. Well aside from the weird naming, their boards are still some of the best in the industry. It's been common enough lately that I find myself just saying XML/DOCP most of the time. Just like UEFI/BIOS.

It's been common enough lately that I find myself just saying XML/DOCP most of the time. Just like UEFI/BIOS. Well, their support lately has been extremely lacking for me. I have a ROG Strix B550-F (non wifi) motherboard and the LAN drivers on their website is 100% useless for me. I tried everything to force it to work and it refused. It wasn't until I tethered my phone to the PC that I could get a working driver through Windows update and was finally able to get the internet working without the phone. And even after finishing all the latest updates, Asus LAN drivers still refused to work. It is the only driver available on their website and it doesn't work at all. I tried explaining it to them and all I got was a scripted generic response with a link to their broken driver. I even went as far as to complain about their lack of support and yet I still got a generic response and an attached file of the broken driver. They just refuse to help their customers properly. It's sad when I (and many others as it is a known issue) have to rely on Windows generic drivers just because the manufacturer refuses to support their own products correctly. Even their sound drivers haven't received a single update since release. Also, for the longest time, their QVL section was completely broken and unusable... it wasn't until after I complained about it that it finally got partially fixed and then a few days later a representative emailed me telling me there was nothing at all wrong with it. I don't know why they didn't just keep it as a pdf file like with previous boards as at least that's always been reliable, but companies love to re-invent the wheel. And the fact that the motherboard kept throwing ram error codes at me when it was a lack of CPU support and was forced to do a bios update while in a powered off state before the computer would stop beeping and flashing ram error codes. Overall, this motherboard and Asus's overall support has kind of made me reflect on the name brand a bit more. I won't dismiss past experiences with their product, but I am beginning to be a bit more open to maybe trying out a different brand other than MSI who are known to be a bunch of unprofessional cry babies. I just don't know which brand might be comparable to Asus as I've kind of stuck with them since the very beginning with blinders on, so I don't even know if there are any good ones out there anymore. Just like UEFI/BIOS. While BIOS and UEFI are both just starting up your system, they are related just like the wheel and a spaceship. On the other hand, DOCP and XMP are litteraly the same thing, but just named differently. From what i heared, Asus calls it DOCP (and Gigabyte calls it EOCP) to avoid paying license fees to intel for using the name XMP. And that's also the issue why XMP (or whatever called) has to be considered as overclocking even if it is "simple one click" overclocking. It's not a generic standard, it's just an intel thing. And there is no instance that overally ensures compatibility between each ram modules and each mainboard. A ram module that says XMP 3200 just says that this ram module can use 3200Mhz. A mainboard that says it can do XMP 3200 just says that the mainboard could do it. But there is no guarantee that THIS module achieves 3200Mhz on THIS mainboard. It also works the other way round. I use XMP 3200Mhz modules and they do also run stableon XMP 3400. And to the OP: Since disabling XMP seems to have solved your problems, but falls back to 21300Mhz (which is the generic JEDEC-standard) for performance reasons i recommend you to try to increase the xmp settings again and look how far you can get. If you ran into problems with XMP 3200, again try if it runs stable with eg. "just" 3133 or 3000, which would be still much better than just 2133Mhz. Especially Ryzen CPUs take advantage of higher RAM speeds. For me it turns out that running Prime95 (with CPU+Mem setting) is a good test if your clock speed runs stable.
