No traders spawned on map, tried most things.

Hey guys. I am having a problem with a RWG i made. I got the error where it shows "NO TRADER" when i start the white river citizen quest. I read on another thread that you can fix this by running away for a few hundred meters and re giving yourself the quest via the console. Did not work several times.

Ive tried going into the XML file for the prefabs and it has put the traders in this file. However when i go to their co-ordinates there are no traders to speak of.

Is this a bug?

More data is needed.

Most likely one of two things has occurred.

  1.  You didn't wipe all the things for a19, and are using a map generated from a previous version.
  2.  You made a custom Nitrogen map.

I am using the vanilla map generator, and why do i need to wipe anything? Has there been an update in the last 5 days?

To add more information, the traders settlement is literally not there. Its not even placed the prefab. I got this error from a fresh generate.

<decoration type="model" name="settlement_trader_04" position="-216, 50, 1290" rotation="2" />
<decoration type="model" name="settlement_trader_02" position="104, 47, 2464" rotation="0" />
<decoration type="model" name="settlement_trader_03" position="-24, 51, 2623" rotation="2" />
<decoration type="model" name="settlement_trader_01" position="-3312, 50, -1848" rotation="0" />

This is the 4 references i mentioned in the prefab.xml from the generation.

I have went on a save i made over two weeks ago using the RWG and the traders are still there. It seems it cannot be the "Wipe" problem you describe.

The reason you get the "no trader" bug is almost 100% of the time from playing on a map generated in an older version. Wiping all things gets rid of the old maps, eliminating the possibility of starting a new game on an old map.

If you are not willing to wipe all the old maps, generate a brand new map for each new game you start. When you start a new game, choose new random as the world. Never choose anything but new random, one of the 3 pregens, or navezgane because you have old maps from old alphas which can have many glitches. The "no trader" glitch is just the one you find first because you get the trader quest right after you complete the starter chain.

I generated this map in A19 though? Its a new map as of 6 days ago. All of my maps were generated in A19.3

Ive just checked, there has been no update since December last year. I only started playing on a fresh install this year.

Just to clarify, you actually generated the map 6 days ago and did not just start a new game 6 days ago?

Some people seem to think starting a new game is the same thing as generating a new map.

If this is a freshly generated map, you should definitely post logs.

I reply to this topic all the time on the steam forums. 100% of the time so far, anyone who cleaned old map data using the launcher had their issue fixed because they were using an old map.

You could try cleaning via the launcher if nothing else works for you, even if it is a freshly generated map.

Yes, i actually started a new map using a new seed. The file says it was created precisely 6 days ago on file explorer.

It appears i do have a couple of older maps in here.... That should not affect new generation surely?

Jamoy, if  you use the same world aka seed name for a new game that you used for an older game, you don't really generate a new world but just use the older world again. This happens to a lot of people because they don't input a world name aka seed name at all (which means the seed name will always be the empty string).

That South Niforo County has the right Modify date might indicate that it truly is a new world. But I'm not sure about what happens if someone reuses an old world for a new game. Some file might get updated in there and the date gets refreshed even though it is an old world

The definite way to find out is looking into the logfile. So just read one the pinned threads here in the forum that tells you exactly how to find and post your logfile:
