Can trap kill XP be modded to share through team/groups as with all other XP?

I don't have a modding solution for you, but here's a possible stopgap solution for your group--the trap "owner" is whoever places it, regardless of who crafts it or wires it up. So, if your friends place some traps, they can get xp from those (provided they're perked into that tree, which I realize isn't ideal).

I, too, would love to see a more equitable distribution of trap xp.

Have you tested that only the owner of a trap gets the xp?

Maybe everyone in range who has points in that perk gets XP? With that scheme the program would not need to remember who placed a trap and it would have no practical difference in most games where only one has specced into INT.

Things get pretty crazy in a multiplayer team during a red moon and the tidal wave of xp, but I'm pretty sure in Alpha 17+18, only the placer was getting the xp, even though I had pretty much duplicated his perk tree by that point and was standing right next to him. I recall reading somewhere that the game already remembers who places every block, not just the traps.

Only the placer gets the XP afaik.
There is something in the buffs.xml and progression called "ElectricalTrapXP".
Maybe you can do something with it but I doubt you can actually make it shared.

The other option mentioned above, let your friends place some traps too. (Although they still need to level up the perk)
