IDNeon
I might try it, and answer the question for us all, but does anyone have ideas/first-hand of what happens with the horde when you build on top of a Mountain? Do they spawn somewhere down below and undermine you? Do they climb the mountain just fine? Does their pathing get glitched out?

But you can still give it a try, guess if there would be a really high cliff and zeds will spawn to low the horde spawner will start throwing zeds into your base))
IDNeon
can anyone tell me what are the tallest mountains in Navezgane? Can't even find that out googling it.

Psychodabble
Haven't tried it in A19, but I suspect you will see no zombies at all until your base suddenly collapses as they dig your foundations out from under you.
unholyjoe
ok here is my test on top of that mtn... 1. remember there is a height limit that you cant build past (so on that mtn top you have 3 meters to build in) 2. i set day to 700 for bloodmoon and maxed my levels so extreme horde would summon 3. built concrete shed on top 4. waited out the night for visitors 5. i had 3 zeds make it to the top and busted in my wall to say hi ( this was around 3:50 to 4:05) end of bm 6. went down in mtn to see what they did and took screen shot 7. they will dig upwards so while you are safe for a while, it wont last forever. good luck on your experiment, let us know what happens. IDNeon
Thanks for the test! I kind of wish they'd nudge the AI so that it didn't do that...but I guess that's a real good way to start a mineshaft haha. Oh and really cool find on that mountain peak, funny, when I build in the snow I always build next to that Trader's. I didn't know the mountain was that high right there haha

I didn't know the mountain was that high right there haha The standard theme of the game is that no matter what your always at danger and never ever truly safe from the horde. So no matter what you do they will always be able to eventually get you no matter how deep you dig or how high you climb. All you can ever do is delay the inevitable by throwing resources at it but you will always eventually run out. Edit - Basically anything that allows you to avoid the horde with little to no resources is going to get patched out in favor of forcing you to have to either fight them or expend a lot of resources to avoid them. Hence the digging and anti vehicle additions to hordes.

Yeah, but that's not what I mean. The complete wanton destruction of the environment makes it hard to use some areas for survival because it just ends up becoming a ClusterF*** It'd be nicer if they nudged the AI so all areas are equally viable to live in. Having a mountain turn to swiss cheese when I want to survive on the mountain is frustrating. The nudge would be to get them to walk up the mountain until it's absolutely necessary to undermine

If they cannot path find to you via walking to you they will have no choice but to bring you to them one way or another.

Yeah that's where I think there's room for nudging, maybe they could code zombies to run up a mountain like they are running up a ramp, and only when you alter the terrain does it behave like normal terrain for them. When have you climbed a giant mountain in a video game that didn't have a path to the top with out having to jump hundreds of times and struggle to keep from sliding or falling off? The zombies are able to handle hills and inclines but navigating a giant jumping puzzle full of inclines that may or may not be too steep to stand on is a bit much. As making a Ai that can do everything a player can is a bit out of the reach of modern gaming with out a lot of cheating to create the illusion that they can in a very tightly controlled situation. This setting would be zombie specific, just to discourage them from undermining a hill-top base. So that you can actually build a hilltop base and have hordenights up there. 17 minutes ago, Danidas said: Ai that can do everything a player can is a bit out of the reach of modern gaming with out a lot of cheating to create the illusion that they can in a very tightly controlled situation. Yeah, hence I think "cheating" for them to make an illusion of capability is fair. To them un-altered terrain in a mountain zone would just be treated as a ramp instead of a jump.
