Empra
I don't know if TFP have more plans for items that break down into scrap brass but to me it just seems tedious breaking down these items that have no other use, except inventory clutter, might aswell just have scrap brass instead. My reasons being, it doesn't add any depth to the gameplay and it's annoying opening inventory every 20 seconds when looting to break it down, when inventory is starting to get full. It breaks the flow imo. With other items like hubcaps, they have other uses, but breaking those down is enough inventory opening for me, without having to do it for useless items as well. Sorry if I am missing a use for these items, or a toggle breakdown key to make it faster or snap to centre etc. This is just how I feel about the current way the game deals with scrap brass. The picture of scrap brass even has a trophy in it, so what is your character doing exactly? Just piling it up? Anyone else agree? P.S Thx for the awesome work TFP, so far so good. Got two of my mates playing this now and since they have it, and Random Gen patch, I have put 91.5 hours into this game in the past 2 weeks! Zvex
Agree ... but finding scraps of brass would be weird. We are talking about routine actions here. To correctly fix it we need some automation, if we could manage some checkboxes for automating some actions that would be useful ... we need a simple macro system ... something like "add action"->"automatic"->"IF get item "Brass candle" CRAFT brass". Sure there are many actions that are absolutely pointless, and automating it would be marvelous ... overclickin the same patterns are absolutely pointless and makes game borring. Get rid of that and you will make the game better by one big step. Or maybe even better just organize some buttons, for example, on the right of the screen, when you put some user made and named actions like "craft all brass". Community would creatively offer many useful macroses and put it on a forum, so everybody could use it.
Xtrakicking
I think they should add more uses for brass, lead and tungsten because right now if you have enough bullets these minerals are just useless. I think they should and they probably will add more uses for all these minerals so that in the future I actually care about gathering them. Also, copper is coming too, I don't know why but it better have multiple uses too.
CongoBongo
really?? You are going to complain about that? Then why not make trees just drop planks, screw turning the logs into planks, takes too much time. Lets also make deer drop venison stew, and corn stalks drop cornbread, cause cooking takes too much time. So lazy, its part of the game.
gcomerfo
In a related note, do we need brass ingots for anything? I made a brass ingot mold thinking I needed it, and smelted some up and then realized I can just make bullet casings directly from scrap brass, so why even have ingots? Brass Trophy, Brass Doorknob, Brass Candlestick, and Brass Radiator only turn into scrap brass (at least as far as I know). I think he is simply saying just have those items should drop as scrap brass instead of having to crack open your inventory every time you get a brass object. Time is just as an important element in this game as anything else. If you take the time break down all the brass objects, or your inventory is full, you have to take time to process or make decisions. Now the zeds are closing in on you, they are almost though that door, one is standing right behind you, etc... Time makes the game play even more dynamic. Otherwise, we get ever closer to walking into a room and vacuuming all the supplies into our inventory to save time.
Wyrmholez
So you'd be ok with 8 different types of items that only break down into scrap iron or scrap lead? Although, if when the leveling and perk system gets implemented there was a perk to automatically converted all that misc. brass/iron/lead stuff to it's scrap component I'd be ok with all the clutter. But barring that it's simply an unneccesary procedure. As an additional point, before I got the game I watched some let's play on Youtube and I watched a guy lug a brass candle stick around thinking it was a weapon and was quickly mauled to death by a dog while he was back peddling trying to figure out how to swing his candle stick. Had he looted brass scrap I doubt he would've thought it was a weapon.

So there is use for them, maybe the pimps have not implemented yet. Some server admins have incorporated this material into recipes. So there are uses for it, just not as many on a vanilla server vs a custom one. They add things into the game often that dont have uses until later on. Just be patient, they will come :)

Said person could of thought anything was a weapon and had the same experience, I came back from earlier alpha and though sticks were still weapons. I think any item of this superfluous nature could be treat the same, across all the metals, just brass is the one that stuck out for me. [QUOTE=Walrus-I-Am;126569]I agree. I don't want it because it's easier but because it's pointless, unless they do make more important recipes with these items I feel they can be removed very easily without anyone missing them that much. If they went I really doubt there would be threads calling for "hey I want every scrap metal item to be specific so I can break it down manually" and removing them would make the loot tables easier probs, allowing more items to be put in the game quicker, just less items to manage. I can't imagine recipes that would impact gameplay, that specifically require those items, rather than some other forms of brass. also not complaining just a suggestion to be rid of superfluous items, I'm not upset they are there I am just suggesting this because of recent playthroughs where I thought this feature could cut.
