B177 - Making the inventory management mods useless?

Just now logging on after a long day, and did know there was an update until I went into the first container... I thought I was seeing things. New inventory management system? Finally in game!!! Unfortunately, it makes all backpack button mods now useless until the modders get new versions out. Can I get some support from the community in asking the Pimps to now add a "leave alone"/"Ignore" option like all the mods have? For both the container and personal inventory?

Honestly, the Pimps really p***ed me off on this one. The sheer level of ineptitude in what they finally made public is baffling. It shows a level of detachment that I am struggling to get to grips with.

The inventory MOD basically enabled a hidden game feature. OKay, cool. SO in enabling that we get three options for quickly moving content into a box and - the beautiful part of this - a way to hold back x-amount of gear slots. This made the "move everything into box" function totally usable and user-friendly. And, by reports, this was a fun pimp innovation, the mod just enabled it.

So then the pimps finally launch it officially ... and it's f**king GARBAGE.

Add an inventory sort button that IS TRASH. I don't know WTF it is sorting by: name, cost, amount, phase of the f**king sun? It literally just takes your clobber and ... rearranges it according to no plan by no one ever. Like: it's useless.

The inventory movement component? Two buttons ... with NO BLOODY "hold in reserve" option.

Which completely undermines the usefulness of the feature. It takes something that they developed, that worked nicely, that was a great feature, and shoots itself in the foot. This is the Pimps taking the Pimps own work and going "let's make it worse". For no gadamn good reason at all.

Honestly, it has be facepalming hardcore.

Thank god the the mod getting updated to fix this stupid s**t.

why so angry? They added the basics of a feature, it can be improved upon. Instead of throwing a fit like a small child you can give suggestions for improvement.

I dont think I've played a game with a default hold in reserve type option, with mods yes but not by default(unless it was a special bag like guild wars 2). The inventory isnt that big, do you really need the game to hold stuff for you so you can find it?

The sort button was in the game for years, not added now. And it sorts reasonably well, mods to mods, weapons to weapons, mats to mats...

The movement buttons I had no opportunity to try out yet. Without the reserved slots I first thought it would be nearly useless. But then I went through the stuff I always have with me and basically I can make it work relatively easy:

I already have food resources and food end products in a separate chest, so there is no danger to loose my stack of drink and food. And I need to have a separate chest for repair kits, first aid kit, all ammo I need and whatever else I always have with me, maybe even combine that with the food end product chest. Done. Should work.

But I don't want to keep you from hyperventilating. Please continue. 😉

PS: For co-op play special chests to collect incoming stuff are probably better as each player has his own selection of what to keep. From time to time the stuff can then be distributed to storage chests.

PPS: This is all theory though. Not yet sure this works as I envision it.

Classic TFP bonehead move. I'd laugh if it weren't so sad and predictable. The hold back portion was already IN the TFP written code but when they finally let us have it w/o a mod they remove it? I'd absolutely LOVE to hear their reasoning for that move. Thank goodness Khaine updated his mod so it's usable again.

disappointed.

remember - they had this feature in there and built. (just hidden)

when they revealed it, they removed features and fundamentally broke it.

they broke their own feature and removed functionality form their own feature.

Disappointed.

I like how it doesnt make sense, its like watching the DE the Warframe devs releasing that update what removed item labels in a game what has literal thousands of the exact same icon for different items.

Like im actually laughing at this nonsense at the screen because what else should i do? Cry?

Personally, I only posted this to see if others were as confused as I was when a "hidden feature" is activated, and it was tweaked to the point of being more of an annoyance than a convenience. Yeah you can sort everything out yourself, and it only takes a few more clicks of the mouse, this is simply a convenience feature. That's it. It isn't necessary to any other game play mechanic, its simply a form of convenience for the player from the devs. No need to get worked up into a lather unless you are on the dev team and you thought you had it working, and its not working the way you intended. I wouldn't be surprised if once A19 goes stable, these mods will all be obsolete. Because face it, there are a lot of "hidden" features in this game because TFP are still working on them and they aren't ready for launch yet. The junk drones are in the code somewhere, just deactivated, and the tac rifle has been in the code for a while, and even with its launch in A19 experimental, it wasn't fully ready. This game is a work in progress, and I for one hope it never truly ends, even though we all know that day is approaching faster than we would like.

This is a nice feature but...

The sort button is in 2 different spots between inventory and storage box, needs fix.

Plus, it would be nice to add a tag to not move certain things from your inventory so you can move all but "These things". :)

I miss the Inventory bag icon on the left to auto sort... didn't need to disable that.

Oh BTW people who have OCD that played with me;  yeaaa I was the one that auto sorted your crates.  >:)
