Holly Storm
Hello, I've recently gone through the different biome background sounds and gave them a makeover. I have them as separate .oggs compressed and ready to be loaded into the resources.assets file. I highly recommend using Grim's UAE Beta3. http://www.mediafire.com/download/vehqvdhpcc5qve6/Biome_Ambient_Sounds_Overhaul.zip These are quick and dirty. I did them in a day. I will probably do more tweaking to these later. I also have the resources.assets file if anyone would want that. It's a big file (1.11 GB), so a little bit to download but you wouldn't need the UAE.
Ankin
Hello, I've recently gone through the different biome background sounds and gave them a makeover.. It's a bit crap how those are handled huh? Lots of sounds for actions and items, but the music and ambient sound is pretty much jammed together in a single ogg. I did a project before and have a lot of sounds to use in this game, but wasn't pleased by how its implemented. Hopefully it was just cobbled together and like other modding areas we get more control or a more in-depth sound system later on down the road. You should make a video though to show differences. Holly Storm
Well, I can tell you some of the things I did. I took out the unnatural noises from the background. They should be mostly just natural sounds now. Toned down the cicadas in the pine forest. Widened the stereo on the files to give them a little more immersive sound when wearing headphones. Made the snow biome into an actual stereo file (it was mono). Other little tweaks as they struck my fancy. Some of them are still a little "loopy" sounding, like I want to work a little more on the forest sounds. But like I said, quick and dirty. Razzoriel
Holly, do you mind telling how were these assets handled? I'm trying to add sound files to the game, but UAE shows .ogg as an invalid audio type.

I'm trying to add sound files to the game, but UAE shows .ogg as an invalid audio type. Hi Raz - It has to be .ogg with a Vorbis compression. Firefogg will compress to Vorbis. Just take a .wav or .mp3 there and load it up. It will spit out the right compression, although you may need to hand change it from an .ogv. (Just go to the file name and rename it to .ogg.) Holly Storm
Okay, I just upload a new zip file with changes to the forest biome sound. http://www.mediafire.com/download/vehqvdhpcc5qve6/Biome_Ambient_Sounds_Overhaul.zip I think I will make a video showing the sound changes at some point. First I want to get the sounds where I like them. Then I have to figure out which parts of the loop to use as samples for the video. The background sound is almost 3 min each. I doubt anyone wants to sit through the full loop of each...

Razzoriel
I used this. http://audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-ogg Both .ogg and .ogv didn't work. Is it really required to use Firefogg?

Is it really required to use Firefogg? Nope, not necessary to use Firefogg, just need the Vorbis compression. It looks like that converter is converting to Vorbis though, so not entirely sure what's up. Which file(s) are you trying to replace? Oh, and are you using UAE Beta 3? Xamllew
Thanks so much for this. I was trying to do this myself a while ago but UAE was not cooperating whenever I tried to import sound assets.
voxelgeek
Is there a way to add different music for different situations? (sneaking, hunted, night, day, different biomes) I want to create something too.
LCPL_Punishment
Thanks Holly, You took away my excuse for not to mod the noisy refrigerators. Mine are now muted by 50%, so my house no longer sounds like a factory a_frig1_lp INDEX 3446 in resources.assets
