Jegethy
I was playing with a friend this evening and she received an error while I was mining elsewhere. She relogged and upon logging in, the following error appeared in the server console and the chunk where our base was had completely reset resulting in all of our progress and items vanishing. 2020-03-08T05:18:35 19041.716 ERR EXCEPTION: In load chunk (chunkX=-87 chunkZ=-5) EndOfStreamException: Attempted to read past the end of the stream. 2020-03-08T05:18:35 19041.729 ERR Stream position: 50287, length: 50287, compressed length: 5950 We're now going to restart, but does anyone know the possible cause of this so we can avoid it in future? Robeloto
Had it happen to me on my previous dedicated server. I always do backups so I just reverted it back before it happened. I do not know the cause of it and it happened atleast 3 times on that same place before it stopped. All I can say is always do backups, atleast once a day. meganoth
Where ist the server? I.e. does one of you host or do you have a headless server where you both connect to? And if you go back to the base do you see the base still there or not?

Some of it is still there, but one chunk completely reset and everything inside it is gone.
meganoth
Well, if you see it too, we can forget about the slim chance that it was only a corrupt file in the cache of your friend. I also missed that you said "server console" so this wasn't a possibility anyway. I don't know of any cause. Except when the game or the computer crashes, but then a corrupt data file isn't suprising. Regular backup of the savegame is the best counter-measure
schwanz9000
Please upload your client and server output logs to pastbin. Instructions here. Also, could you describe the base layout like number of forges, campfires, workbenchs. What was cooking or crafting at the time? Did you have a land claim and bedrolls down? Schwanz9000 Our base was essentially a 9x9 concrete box with a central platform that contained the land claim, bedrolls, and crafting stations. We had two forges smelting iron, clay, and stone. My friend was there alone working on the base while I was mining approximately 300m away. The chunk that reset contained the forges, workstation, and everything else that was on the central platform. Here is the server log. The error occurs on line 6261: https://justpaste.it/23nyn Here is my log: https://pastebin.com/H0frz7u6 And my friend's log: https://pastebin.com/9fSz63nA
Beelzybub
There was a bug in earlier versions of A18 where an overloaded forge could cause a chunk reset, and this looks like that bug as your forge area was reset. Is this an older game? Or maybe one of those mods brought back the bug? Also, From your friend's log. He or she is trying to load a different Harmony Mod than the server and your game. 2020-03-08T23:11:15 6.972 INF [MODS] Trying to load from folder: Harmony 2020-03-08T23:11:15 6.975 INF [MODS] Loaded Mod: Jegethy's Harmony Mod (0.8.3) 2020-03-08T23:11:15 6.975 INF [MODS] Trying to load from folder: Harmony HM 2020-03-08T23:11:15 6.980 INF [MODS] Loaded Mod: Harmony Hard Mode (0.1.0) dunno if that caused the problem but it is a possible source of issues. That is from my log. It's a mod I'm working on that hasn't been added to the server, so I doubt that had anything to do with it.
