PC: World Editor fails to load: Freezes at build environment

Recommended Posts

https://pastebin.com/2Dz0FCJe

When I open world editor and try to create a RWG, I receive the generic "NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error.

If i use the Random Gen Previewer, I can create a map and view it in the low res modeler. After which, I can open that world in single player with or without mods installed. When i attempt to open the same world in the world editor, it stops at "building environment". I can hear game sounds, and enter console commands, but I cannot load into an interactable game. I have attempted to teleport to random coordinates, but that fails telling me I have set an invalid X axis.

To be clear, this only occurs with world editor. POI editor works fine. I can join any single player game and join the RWG world in single player without issue

I have done a full uninstall, deleted the entire 7 days directory from Steamapps.

This occurs even when I remove all mods and custom POIs

I can join servers on 18.3 and 18.4. I attempted to roll back my install to earlier versions of 18.3 and the issue still occurs.

I have validated the files as well without success.

I haven't found any threads about building environment that deal with world editor and that are newer than 2018.

I'm just trying to add some custom POIs to a RWG and eventually upload that to a server for my friends and I, but this issue has defeated my troubleshooting so far :(

I tried to reproduce this and couldn't. Here are the steps I followed.

Create a map using Random Gen Previewer.

Play the new map in SP.

Open the new map in World Editor.

Didn't have any issues.

Can you provide more details? World size? Gen seed?

Specific steps to reproduce?

Try this:

Validate your files in Steam and make sure there is no mods folder at all. No POIs, GUI mods, etc.

Use A18p4b4RWG01 as your Game Name AND World Generation Seed in a single player game. It should give you East Roboda County as the Generated World Name.

Once it has generated and you are in game, exit the game to the main menu and go to the world editor.

Let us know your results. If it fails to load again, please submit that output log.
