Do you Turret cheat? or use any other exploits? Eg cheese ai base strats etc.

Hence why I have them above me shooting at those damn stupid birds.

I always enclose the roof. Haven't noticed a vulture on horde night once in my 90 day game. Just have to clean a few up after. To busy to kill them mid horde.

You will notice them in A19 when they break through your roof. Maybe everyone will have turrets on their roof in A19. :)

I'm just glad I watched a particular MP stream where everyone had a very "colorful" way of indicating the presence of buzzards. Whenever I encounter any I think of that and I can't help but grin.

Avoiding to exploit the game mechanics seems to be the new meta. -.-

I admit to taking advantage of the "Stealth Cheat". That's the one where if you sneak into a building with a bow or crossbow you can kill sleepers by shooting them in the head without them waking up. It's completely OP.

I also use the "Ranged Weapon Cheat". Did you know that there are a whole bunch of weapons (I'm not gonna enable you by telling you which ones - you'll have to find that out for yourselves) that let you kill zombies while they're not even close enough to hit you back? That's completely broken and needs to be nerfed.

Ok, that's it, reporting you to the FBI as we speak.

I stopped using them during horde night. They trigger the demolishers way too often. Other than that, wow you are cool OP. You avoid things that are considerded cheesy. A round of applause for the cool guy. It´s early access still in alpha things like that happen. All the time. No need to brag and cry here.

They are pretty OP, but i wouldn´t worry to much, pretty sure the nerf is already done for A19. So drama here for nothing imo.

Why is no one bothered about the frame trick? Like pretty much every youtube vid where people play on survivalist or insane uses it. It´s cheesy af but i never see someone complain about it? Meh.

Also the sleepers getting back to sleep once you die, is the cheesiest thing. Makes retrieving your backpack so easy you can basically turn on drop nothing. Doesn´t make a difference in difficulty, cause sleepers can be avoided easily when getting it back. No one crying about that one tough...

A portable unpowered turret that can shoot straight thru my body and hit the Z is a cheat. Period.

I'll raise a counterpoint here that hasn't been mentioned.

Turrets are really only good in a few situations. That said, they might seem overpowered because, due to the current game design direction, the situations they're weak don't happen often enough. Turrets are exceptionally good against extremely small numbers of enemies approaching from a predictable direction. It's what they're designed to do, have your back. But because we play in a game where there are generally very few zombies active at once, and when clearing POIs they always come from predictable directions, this makes turrets seem extremely powerful because they're almost always in their best-use situation.

Turrets are weak to two things - Enemies approaching from a direction the turret isn't facing, and large swarms of enemies. Both of these things require there to be a lot of zombies active at once. So we can summarize a turret's weakness as 'lots of zombies.' However, the game's design has severely cut back on the number of zombies that are active at once, favoring sleepers and smaller hordes to save resources. This benefits any build or weapon that focuses on killing small numbers of enemies, such as rifles, melee, and yes, turrets. The only time the weak point of turrets can be seen in the current iteration is on horde nights, where they're borderline useless because they can't keep pace with the number of enemies coming at them.

If the game allowed for more enemies to be active at once, turrets wouldn't seem as strong.

There is that aspect too that makes them OP along with the other things, if anything if you get in the line of fire it should hit you.

It´s powered with compressed air. Needing to reload that would fit tough. Also i don´t think you kow what the word cheat means. Google it. :/

If there really was a zombie apocalypse, you bet your ninny I'd exploit every weakness I could find, pathing or otherwise.

That said, it doesn't make for a very fun game to exploit game bugs or the ai.

honestly, I just mod my game - head shot mod: 200% headshot damage, body damage reduced to 25%, zombie damage mod: zombies deal 200% more damage, set to always run, Ruinious wounds mod*, and I activate nightly hordes...this makes ANY weapon useful, and personally, its a fun scramble to find ANYTHING that allows me to survive after a few weeks in...junk turrets are great but can't really save you when its hordes nightly

*when under 75% health, damage to me has a 50% chance to causes stagger (that annoying thing where you move like 50% as fast and everything goes quiet), when under 50% beer debuff activates to simulate blood loss and I get infected if i'm struck (personal mod i'm working on, not fit for release yet, waaaaay to many kinks ) {I'm working on adding more negatives, and maybe a few built in positives so it'll become a balance at every stage}

I try not to cheat but it's hard not to. The moment you build a base and notice the predictable way the "clever" AI heads at it in a certain way, which you then react to in building your defences, well you're kinda cheating.

However, what I never, ever do is build an infinite ramp, or stilt base as those specifically exploit the "clever" AI. So I consider those 100% cheating. And I never use Junk Turrets because I agree with OP they are stupidly OP. Not cheating just boringly OP.

I like using a junk turret for POI exploration. If that makes me a cheater so be it.

No I don't consider that cheating but I wouldn't do it because I like some danger and challenge in POI exploration, such as it is. Speccing into Turrets trivialised POIs, which is not not a play style I enjoy. I prefer a visceral battle with my Shotgun (on Insane, GS 400 right now).

Also, if we're talking about overpowered things, the M60 is a far worse culprit than Junk Turrets.

No because you can have a M60 AND 2 Junk Turrets. Which is like having 3 M60s.

Have you tried full Turret spec, with 2 tier 6 turrets fully modded? You don't need the frickin M60.

Neither is true in fact. Because you can just lay TWO turrets facing each other, at your feet. You have infinite coverage and you can then stand anywhere.

The key problems with Junk Turrets is they do not shoot you, they shoot through you. And they stagger enemies they hit. That's why they are OP. AT full spec, Junk Turrets fire like an M60 minigun, not the clunk clunk clunk you saw if you didnt bother to spec and just dropped one to see what it did. They shred zombies even on Insane.

I'm not sure about the stagger, it does seem OP as hell, but if they at least added friendly fire to them they'd probably be balanced.

It does allow that, but you have to mod settings. Which I do. I have TONS of zombies now. And Junk Turrets are OP, imo.

Vultures are quite welcome to TRY and get through the bars that are the roof.

The shotgun turrets are waiting for them. (and so am I)

Oh hell your giving those little bastards the ability to target blocks? I already hate the hell out of vultures as it is. Then again I sort of seen this coming as a roof was all you needed horde night to completly negate any aerial threat since they cannot hit the blocks from what I can tell.

Yeah I just took the SG Messiah factory (the huge one) and took barely any damage with my 2 junk turrets, played it ballsy too.

Might challenge myself in the next playthrough and go without, but I sure do love em

Its a pretty different game when your not relying on them thats for sure. Even having 1 out makes the game so much easier I noticed, to the point it ruins it for me, they are just too exploitable.

Defying the laws of physics and having the turret ammo go right thru my body is a cheat, by definition.

He says, while discussing a game about zombies, where you can learn to cook by mining coal and become a master rifleman without picking up a gun, where you can build concrete buildings with stone tools and assemble a fully-functional aircraft with a hammer, wrench, and wooden table. Where the same tools will repair a stick with nails in it or a rocket launcher. Where assault rifles and submachine guns use entirely different skills despite being functionally identical. Where one man with a stone pickaxe can dig out an entire underground bunker in two days, then hide in it subsisting on water alone. Where you can't simply shoot the trader and take his stuff because he's invulnerable to gunfire.

It's a video game, friend. The definition of 'cheating' is set by the designers, not the laws of reality. And using an item for its intended purpose, as it was programmed by the designers, is not cheating any more than using any other weapon is.

I respect your opinion that you think turrets are unfair, but please don't use such stupid arguments to defend it. Instead discuss turrets and their OP nature as you should - Compare them to other primary weapon skills (pistols, rifles, melee weapons, archery, etc) and tell us what makes them so overpowered compared to all the other primary weapons.

Are you sure it was really intended for the turrets to shoot through players? Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but it seems more likely it's just a problem with a new feature they haven't solved yet.
