Guest Karlore
Hello, Thanks for the great game! Single player game, crashes to desktop while attempting to load a saved game. All other saves work fine. Here is a link to the logs. https://pastebin.com/0V3HRTCB https://pastebin.com/vx9GruWY
SylenThunder
All specs seem fine, and I don't see any mods loaded. Since all other saves work fine, it's going to be most likely that something in that particular save is corrupted. I don't see anything very significant in the log file to point at a specific issue in the save. It's just like something suddenly loads the wrong way, and that knocks everything over. Thanks for looking into this! Although it seems random as to the problem, maybe I should return to the game when some of the trivial problems such as serializing save data is worked out before trying to enjoy the game fully. unholyjoe
i realize server wasnt mentioned but adding this any ways. try using launcher and disabling eac and of course the server must be one that has eac off as well and even test on different servers.. process of illumination. what i am shooting for is create a game without eac involved and to see if issue still happens. also best not to use a bad save once one is found. QA Tester-unholyjoe Hello, I tried launching the game with EAC disabled but to no avail. Have about 150 hours of playtime before the save become corrupted so my only conclusion is that the game is just not ready for general consumption yet. I will seek a refund from steam and come back when the game can reliably load a save game. Thanks!

Why is the save data serialization not deterministic? And why does save data not cause a graceful failure when loading completely? This is unacceptable IMO for a game that costs money (yeah, I know, Alpha). I've noticed quite a bit of complaints about save data and the recommendation is probably going to be "backup your saves". Ok, stupid me, lesson learned, how about instead a message when you load the game saying "we have not adequately programmed a method to save your data, you might want to consider doing this yourself"? SylenThunder
It's the nature of a voxel game where files are being constantly accessed. This isn't like most of your other games where it's just occasionally saving tidbits of data on location, quests, and inventory. Your save files are massively larger than any other game because it's all of the active world regions, timers, player data, vehicle data, and more. There isn't a way to configure saves the way you are expecting in a game of this nature. That's a known fact that a little bit of research on the game before your purchase would have shown you. Guest Karlore
Thank you for the explanation. However, your last sentence is absurd. You can't possibly mean that I should research how a game is programmed before I purchase it. /rant That's a known fact that a little bit of research on the game before your purchase would have shown you. SylenThunder
No, you should research the game as a whole before you opt into any title. Especially one that is still in development. It's not like 6 years worth of data doesn't exist.
schwanz9000
The issue is related to electrical fence posts that will be fixed in the next patch. The following steps will help you remove them from a SP game. WARNING!!! If you don't do this correctly, you could completely lose everything. Go to your save game here: C:\Users\<YOUR PC>\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Saves\<YOUR WORLD NAME>\<YOUR GAME NAME>\Player In the player folder, save all 3 files with your SteamID .map, .ttp, and .ttp.bak to a different temp location. Once you have them secure, delete them from the player folder. This will allow you to spawn into the game and remove the fences. Once they are removed, exit the game and go back to the player folder. Delete the new files that were just created. Put your OLD files back in and you "should" be good to go. On MP games, have someone go to the affected area and remove them.
