Rickaavv
Watched a video from jawodell yesterday, the burger base vs day 7000 or something like that and he mentioned they upped the damage zombies do to poles this alpha so he changed his design. My go to design is back to back steel poles and it works very good. Did some searching on Google and this board and did not find anything. So did I just miss it or did I misunderstand him in his video? Any info would be appreciated.
RipClaw
He's got that all right. Zombies do 6 times more damage to poles than to other blocks. I reported it as a bug: https://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?135857-A18-2-b5-EXP-bug-reporting-thread&p=1071398&viewfull=1#post1071398 (Minute 1:08:50) The centered poles do not have the problem. However, you can circumvent the problem by placing 1/2 blocks on the ground so that the zombies are 1/2 block elevated. Then they just do the normal block damage. I guess it has something to do with the new glancing blows system in A18.
ginc
6 is a weirdly specific number, maybe the pole blocks are taking damage on every single face (ie. 6 sides) for some reason
Rickaavv
Well, that sounds good, as long as it is not a desired change to somehow nerf base designs using poles. And thanks for the tip on the 1/2 block, that will be a easy fix until they patch it.
Laz Man
If it's a nerf, it doesnt seem to unreasonable to me as long as it also gets reduced in cost to craft. Seems like it grants the player a tremendous amount of flexibility similar to how wood/iron bars allow players to shoot through them. MM, has mentioned that was one reason they currently dont allow iron to upgrade any higher.
