Anyhow its a lot of work, not just reskin a zombie and call it done.

Why not? Empyrion did it. Their npcs are awful. Morrowind level awful.

On topic:

While books are a big undertaking, you guys did pull quite a few of them in just 3 weeks. I remember the easy ones being done in under a month. There were others that were waiting for new systems and weapons to be in place so those took longer (believe it or not you tell us A LOT of stuff haha).

I would love if you could show us some screenshots. Maybe a vehicle mod? Maybe another sweet thing?

You used to love us like your children and give us treats every couple of days.

Ugh.... from my understanding of being self employed for almost 30 years is that low quality products and services fail. Why would we jeaprodize our good review and all the hard work to add a half assed feature? Life is like bodybuilding, you get out of it what you put into it, there are no short cuts and they don't ever pay off when you try them.

I get a little optimistic about stuff or misinterpret the status sometimes. Gazz says its nearly done but then a month later 40 books were marked as unfinished. There are a lot more than 3 book sets, I only announced the ones I know are easy, there are some others that are super cool, but also very ambitious so I am not even talking about them until we can get the required missing books done.

Treats have to be earned :) You guys have literally been ♥♥♥♥heads lately since the new wore off of A18, making selfish demands, rude remarks, and poor critique. Regardless I'll release stuff when I get around to it, there is a lot piling up so I can release more soon.

I agree with all that stuff.

At the end of the day, we love your product .

Thanks, for the heads up. Even though the info was a little cryptic, I can imagine that next year is gonna be awesome for us fanatics and noobies alike.

Well, we're addicts and A18 was an amazing high. :)

A19 wishlist

For a19 and or future can the Texture array inspecter be added with an interface

to the tools section. The option i read about is the "Graphics.CopyTexture".

Using a folder pointer in the class, with 3 folders added to 7 days to die root.

directory /Terrains, /Blocks, /Shaders.

There is also a github script that if incorporated can export the texture layers

in an editable format. This way even with the limit of 16 or 32 texture overlay,

an external script can be added to randomize custom added textures at runtime.

Second can the same class for naming the seeds be used for the signs on the buildings.

The idea is it would leave the base texture of the buildings, but would randomize the

color, degree of decomposition, "grunge effect on building blocks" and the names on the

building tags. You build a base framework for POI and the game can make one building

look like multiple variants. using a root folder /Block_FX. EX. Bobs outpost, can become

Billybob's outpost, RickyTam outpost etc. Set by the game because of seed.

I ask because I use a custom painted terrain, using Photoshop and Terrgen, that renders,

7k+ pois, and 25 1k to 2k cities.

Last on the wishlist, If you remove the dtm_processed raw file, it will regenerate,

can an option be added for the prefabs. xml also to have it regenerate, if you adjust

the terrain stamp.

Any news on pvp updates? Such as creating the ability to make it so certain hours of the day are safe from raiding and certain hours are not safe.(like in many other pvp survival games). I'm not really sure how complicated this would be to add but it would be really great in helping making pvp more appealing to players.

Ahh, don't let them get to your head. I strongly believe that they are just a very loud, vocal minority. I am really impressed with what you all did with A18, and I greatly anticipate future updates. :) But I can wait. There's so much of A18 I've yet to explore! (Such as the Perception build that I am just starting.) Just know that for every one person complaining, there's probably a thousand new players that are in awe... or that are soiling their pants as they cower away in an attic in Diersville in the middle of the night, just like the good old days. ;)

People, honestly, stop requesting stuff/spamming please? Unless you want TFP to retreat for good, I kindly, humbly suggest, as a fellow player, that, idk, you count your blessings, maybe? Is that too much to ask? Just saying. Besides, if new players are reading these forums, it would be nice for them to be reading relevant info. Besides, there is a separate forum for feature requests.

At least just turn it down a notch. As in, a big notch.

Occasionally I'm sure, but frankly every idea has already been thought of and discussed and suggested 50+ times before over the last 6 years. If we didn't have ideas we wouldn't be in business. I'm like Adam the Waster and have to refrain from derailing the team with ideas constantly lol.

The purpose for it is more to be a sounding board so other forum members can say its a good or bad idea and if it gets enough traction someone will get our attention or someone internally will see it etc and then its like, yeah we talked about that, or its already planned.

Okay, but the real question is, is anyone from the pimps actually a pimp irl?

Hah! I don't think I literally said that because I'm really cagey with remarks like that. =P

The last 10% of The List always take 90% of the work. It's one of the basic laws of the universe.

Humans are just terrible at fully understanding that particular one.

That this one player above thinks that 20+ new book perks are a quick copy/paste is normal. Players do not need to know what's behind the curtain.

Just putting in the skeleton for the new books, all the perks, book items, unlocks, recipes, new crafted items, recipes, unlock links back and forth, crude localisation for all that... took more than a solid day's work and at this point nothing even does anything.

It's an important step, though.

Now others who work on icons or localisation have something to work with and I'm closer to a point where I can start writing tasks for new code that I'll need to make some of those work.

I'd like to see moderators move those out of the blue wishlists into a dump topic in Pimp Dreams.

Some posters just can't be arsed to search for or improve an existing topic there so it's only fair if moderators can't be arsed to treat it as a special snowflake. /shrug

I don't think you know what goes into making a quality product. Just a few things with bandits:

Art and design, armor, how they scale in visual threat level a player can identify with. Model texture and rig, then make a prefab with ragdoll and other requirements.

AI code and behavior: Patrol, play animations at key points to look realistic when not in combat, make idle conversation, make combat barks, take cover, retreat, heal, use a variety of weapons, animate realistically, path intelligently.

Write VO lines, order VO, process vocals, tune in volumes distances, etc.

Loot drops, XP, harvest data, dead body hit points.

Leveled list integration. Getting all these elements working together and all of it feeling polished and not glitchy is a huge undertaking.

Retune stealth (these are humans not zombies)

Implement use of items, ranged weapon aiming, look up and down controllers, crouch, a whole different mechanim controller with logic for every transition.

Anyhow its a lot of work, not just reskin a zombie and call it done.

Believe me bro - im doing just fine over here

And yes i do know how it all works - modding is my game - not just XML

but i understand trust me

my point still stands

you do have decent start

In the end i would like to see the server push any mod put on it - that would be really sweet

Medieval engineer's pushed from the steam workshop - maybe that's something to look into

Sounds easy when said like that but you can't just push XML when it's tied into DLL mods.

And if you push THOSE you have a server pushing code that is run on a client which is a major security issue.

"The electricity update" pls. Minibike mod, even a 4x4 with batteries only, working electric forge, electric oven, working heaters and ACs. CCTV with cameras and alternate switches. If it happens, than my life is going to end, I'm about to restore full towns with working solar power including streetlights and households :D

Also pls add parallel battery charging in battery banks and more efficient charges for higher quality batteries. More inputs and outputs for electric devices pls. Let my dream come true :)

As I said in the A18 dev thread, A18.2 has a terrain quality option, which can be used to lower the terrain object count and the terrain shader complexity, which makes it run faster.

Yeah, thats nice and all, but it'd be nice if the underlying problem with the microsplat map would be fixed as well in a19. This is more of a bandage for now instead of an actual solution imo. Its not the objects on the terrain that causes it, its the terrain itself, if it is too bumpy, it just kills fps for some reason, you mainly can see this in the snow/desert biome, and around bodies of water in rwg for some reason. Lets just say that since a16 I been always able to run 7dtd at a stable 60 fps, but since this microsplat map thing came around, this is no longer possible in certan biomes with tall mountains/bumpy ground. Flat land in those biomes don't cause me any problems, its the second it starts to get really hilly/mountainous, there is a crapload of tiny bumps in the terrain, like if you drive a motorocycle around it'll constantly make the sound effect like it bumped into something or you landed from a jump even on flat land, that shouldn't really be there, and its those that cause the fps issue. Once I look away from the problem ground my fps jumps right back up to 60 again instantly. I can even be standing on it, its just looking at it that causes the fps drop its really weird.

That is funny they aren't even on the list. As I said A19 might be a 2 month mini build, it might be a 2 year mega build, in which case you could probably count on bandits. It might be a multiple point release build with 19.1 having books, 19.2 having vehicle updates, .3 legendary, .7 graphics, .9 bandits. I don't know yet but bandits are so far out I wouldn't expect them in 19.

I'll be honest I find the graphics in 7dtd to be more than enough, the game looks better than ever in a18, I'd rather see some more optimization and the microsplat map issue I mentioned fixed, then more focus on content than making it prettier. Thats just me though. I was pretty happy with how the game looked in a17 too. I'm not big on graphics myself. Seen too many games with great graphics that were garbage gameplay wise due to it.

Yeah, a lot of people don't really know how much work goes into some of the even simple things in a videogame. I mean sure it LOOKS simple from the players eyes, but the player often does not see all the stuff behind the scenes that has to be done to make that feature work. After you do all the stuff you mentioned there is then bug testing, and with programming even a 1 character typo can cause some nasty bugs at times.
