To the tune of "Oh Christmas Tree" (oder "Oh Tannenbaum")

"Oh flattened barb

Oh flattened barb

You lay neat fore our defenses

You slowed them up

You tore them up

We swore you ripped us just as much

Oh bring back barb

Oh bring back barb

Barb Fence is not aesthetic!

A simple barb wire fore the fort,

A hit or two as good as new

We saw thru you,

We shot thru you

Oh bring back barb wire for our defenses"

Dear Father Christmas (aka Madmole)

For this Christmas I would like a bit of Barb wire to play with my zombie playmates again.

I've not been a naughty boy, and I love ur game

;-)

Ps Barb Wire pleeeeeeeese

IIRC from the A18 Dev Diary: It was OP.

You know, they could have either raised the crafting cost or lowered the hp. I liked the barbed wire sheets, i think everyone did. I was not a big fan of logged spikes, they looked stupid and how do you hurt yourself on those? but the barbed wire was pretty useful. I was hoping they would let it get updated to razor wire, and really hurt everything that touched it.

lowering the Hp wouldn't have helped if you placed it under poles

(2 wide hallway with walls on each side with poles on the lower half of the second block)

X is wall, p is pole and w is wire

this setup protected the wire from being run into, but since it affected the whole block even if the "wire" itself wasn't hit, it was considered OP

Many thanks, this looks good. I don't understand the OP reason for removing it, on Warrior I found it balanced, they could generally-after a bit of Michael Jackson dance style moves-eventually walk over two rows of it, and after a 7 day event I often had to replace sections were they went across en masse. Indestructible it definitely wasn't, and I found it had to be a weak type zombie before it killed.

Thanks again for all the replies and help. :rapture:

I know... I KNOW this might sound a bit crazy to TFPs... and their followers...

but... and this is just a crazy idea... what if you'd just fix them to remove the exploit?

*insert shocked face here*

oh, no doubt, but I think the thought process was the fact they had 2 types of the exact same item, just that 1 worked as THEY intended, and the other was OP, so they tossed the one that was OP and kept the other

While more involved, it works as before and unless a cop explodes, it does not get damaged.
I had for day 14 horde so not to hard to get early.

An interesting concept, I would just need to see if I could incorporate it into my normal base design, or rethink the approaches.

Thanks ;-)

Runners hordes during normal nights and concatenated screamers are very frequent, especially if you have a very hot base (many working tables and furnaces processing material at the same time.

Digging a shaft 30m down for your industrial core is night 2 now that forge is a 1pp spend. pete, trex, 69er, cardio, chef, forge. So by day 3 you're in full padded armor with a load of red tea and an iron club and iron arrowheads, plus whatever you scrounged on the way. Wolves and vultures will keep you careful but they're more meat-and-feathers than fear-and-loathing.

The flat barbed wire was OP because you could pop it in a doorway and then basically just stand there, anything short of a bm horde was just grind.

So they remove Barbed Wire but give us a lawnmower size laser sighted auto turret we can poop out of our pocket, lol

Yeah. Great idea.....

Wow, interesting

Kind of another example of them not fixing something, just removing it altogether
