Hip fire huh? That's news to me. *Shrugs*

It's just way too invaluable for how it changes the player's approach to Bloodmoon hordes. Running around, wrangling zombies into a group by running in circles, throwing molotovs into the density of them, then feeling confident that you can empty your clip into the rest and sprint away while reloading... Run and Gun is invaluable because of that. And Madmole stated he'd consider trying some sort of an integration of Run and Gun into every other attribute, so I'm good. I was heard.

Alright, I admit that in that situation Run & Gun could prove to be very useful, yes. But since I only "run & gun" in POI's, I have not felt the pressure to invest into it. To each their own.

You are wrong that no one likes stealth, but it is pretty well agreed upon that stealth, especially early to mid game, needs some fine tuning. (The triggers that zombies have to awaken are too sensitive, for example.)

Do I feel horrible? Like a complete dirt bag? Yes. I feel guilty, remorseful, I owe you an apology madmole. Also you, mechanical lens. I just felt like my primary point was overlooked. Understandably, how many replies do the devs have to respond to in a day? It's easy to get caught up in the monotony of it all and pass over the point someone is trying to make, and only devote an empty reply to it. I feel guilty for blowing up, I am sorry, I'm grateful you guys entertained me and heard me. Now I need to try to calm down. Once again, I'm sorry.

Not trying to sound rude here, but no, I do not forgive you, and after the rant you just went on, I will never see you in the same way again. Nonetheless I will not treat you any differently. An apology is not needed imo, just act better next time and going forward.

Well takes a man to admit when he was wrong.

He said "If run and gun is such a must have..." which isn't really determined yet. Before you crashed the party the discussion was going for hours about miner69er or sexrex being the essential perk. We will see if your impersonation of an internet mob routine has a consequence, I assume they will wait for telemetry data to tell them the real situation.

Had to start a new savegame as Navezgane simply felt too boring for me. Not too bad though, starting a new game is pretty exciting and renders putting new ideas into practice possible.

Two things:

1) Have tried putting brightness on 15 % as advertised by some guys here due to too much light at night. As I have said this makes the game in general much much darker and to be honest, it looks stupid. With A19 the lighting at daytime looks really awesome on standard brightness, setting that to 15 % takes away a lot of the beauty. Won't do that. Guess I have to live with too bright nights for the moment.

2) With my new savegame on a custom random world I wanted to try an underground base from day 1. However, digging holes is pretty weird on that map. The alignment for holes is always angular to anything else above ground. See my attached image where the wooden block can be placed as a square but the holes appear as a rhombus. Digging that underground base like that is really bad as I end up hitting wrong blocks all the time due to that weird alignment of holes. I could not even place a ladder in that shaft as I wanted; had to put the ladders diagonally in a corner. Why is that?

I have never needed to run and reload so i never saw a use in run n gun, sneaking with a bow has new appeal to me, though my aim sucks with my mouse hahaha, but all this arguing isn't truly productive. I'm trying to think of new perks that can be added into the game which would make sense, like metallurgy and when taken it could help reduce the amount of metal used to create ingots and metal related items and maybe increase crafting speed of metal related items, lol, im odd that way.

To be fair, I knew getting into it that forgiveness would be off the table. My point got across, and like I said, I was willing to accept being the public enemy if it meant getting my point across. Maybe you will eventually all familiarize yourselves with the male Karen named Trunks that pops by here sometimes, usually has a few good points to discern in his rantings, and maybe you'll accept him as a part of the community regardless of the rantings. That's all I can hope for, but I knew getting into this: That's all I'd be capable of afterward, that would be the stain on my name. I accept it, and I accept your stance Mech Lens. No offense taken, complete understanding on my end.

My advice for you would be to just take a few days off the forums, let things settle down, alright? I was once a toxic piece of %$#& back in my youth, and I learned that even after making amends, it's best to just take some time off afterwards.

Also, some regrettable posts aside, we made it to 500 pages bois! 😄

You are falsely assuming that agility should be about stealth.

Nobody likes stealth, literally nobody, and you're desperate to pretend it belongs. Stealth means nothing, when you have scripted zombies falling through ceilings, immediately detecting you regardless of your "stealth".

Umm, I like stealth.  You sound like you like to play like you're always in a hurry.  Is there a rule on how many POI's you have to get through in one day?  So what if I only do 1 or 2 a day because I'm going slow through them.  It's fun to challenge yourself and see if you can get through the whole POI without waking up any zombies.

1) Did you try to adjust your monitor as well? Maybe you changed it for some other game or your monitor has too much contrast for its own good.

I made a few pictures of night time yesterday but forgot to post them. On my screen most of the night is very dark, inside is so dark I wouldn't be able to fight. There are times of night that are very bright, but that is mostly at the onset of night, a much more natural transition into real darkness.

In essence, I personally like it that way, finally I can go outside at night even if I don't have a helmet light. And get killed by a horde of 6 zombie dogs (actually happened) or a dire wolf (didn't happen, I was holed up in a house and could kill it)

2) That is AFAIK a compromise so that the area between different types of blocks look smooth instead of having a gap. A one-block shaft still works, better is to make more room or even make a scaffold out of wood frames to put the ladders on.

What I was attempting to bring up was about Balance, or Openness for more character builds.

I'm specifically -not- whining or complaining about how many perk points it costs to be X effective at Mining.

It's about opening up Weapon Specialization so that they are their own choice.

Look at it this way;

The most logical real world choice for the ranged weapon in Strength is the Bow. The next would be the M60.

If Strengths ranged weapon changed to Bows, or _anything_ else I would be making the same posts.

Of course all the various options posted are doable. That isn't the point, at all. Nor do any of them address the simple issue of equality of choice.

Consider two players who do everything almost exactly the same. Same % looting/exploring/mining/building/etc. The _only_ difference is that one uses the Shotgun as their main ranged weapon while the other uses Pistols.

All that I'm trying to bring up is that by choosing to use Pistols rather than Shotguns, the two players will not have equivelent Skills/Perks until late game.

Similar thing could be said if both wanted to spec into Junk Turrets, but one went with Clubs while the other used Stun Batons.

I'm 100% fine with Mining really benefiting from several perks, however much those perks wind up costing.

Peace.

Now, I will say that the current perk system is flawed in at least one objective way: Let's say you want to invest into the perks under an attribute, so you dump some points into said attribute to unlock those perks. Unless you are using the weapons in that tree, those skills points that go into the attribute trees themselves are literal wastes of points that don't immediately benefit the player in any way. In my opinion, each attribute tree should have a small bonus accompanied with it, one per rank, that benefits everybody. For example, -1% crafting time per rank of Intellect, or +1% melee damage to enemies (or stunned/knocked down enemies) per rank of Strength.

Whiners are going to whine. It isn't too fast, they are just eating one can of miso that doesn't do much and then complaining. Try telling me you have to eat too often eating gumbo stew. Like fill up and you don't need to eat for a very long time.

These are paying customers, your player base. No need to call them whiners just because they don't share your exact game preference. It was a simple question and all I wanted was a simple answer.

There is no situation where you are forced to break 15k blocks in the game. Shotguns breaching rounds can break blocks. C4 and dynamite are optoins.

Why? Because it is the top end of the whole power upgrade tree. Why bother with solar stuff? Gas is easy to mine, I rarely have to refill my generator in any game.

The same way I'm not forced to live in a existing POI. But it's fun to rework them into bases and hord bases.

I really don't get the attitude - we have a voxel-breakable world, but you don't have to break blocks to play the game... Of corse I don't have to but literally every character wants to do that at some point.

IMO tools and tool related stamina should not be connected to any specific build. I wouldn't mind if STR got power tools to make them superior but forcing all players to STR tree seems like a suboptimal solution.

And having to carry c4 or shotgun, which yet again belong to different tree, isn't a good solution either. It's upside down at the moment - c4, special shotgun and power tools are advanced gear that should require specialisation. Everybody should have should have the ability to use primitive tools like pickaxe without forcing you to a speciffic tree.

I'm totally for giving STR tree perks that give bigger harvest, and more tool damage, but stamina to mine/break blocks should be assessible to all. (because of the nature of the game)

Solar - I don't mind if I have to wait and paciently loot and buy the stuff. But generators are noisy and as an end content, solar is nice to work towards.

Again, I don't get your logic. "We put this cool tech in the game, but why bother with it? So we gate it out of your reach"... Why put it in the game then?

If you're concerned about the stamina system (I didn't read your past comment), here is an answer for you. :)

Also, I'm sure he meant it in good taste. If you're mining like a Dwarf in LotR and you are not adequately suited for the job, and you're complaining about a lack of stamina, then yes, you are whining about it. But there are ways to combat stamina loss. :) Sex Rex, coffee/blackstrap, yucca juice smoothies, an ergonomic grip, etc. If I was taking too much damage from zombies and I was whining about it, perhaps instead I could consider what is weighing me down and fix that problem. :) Not enough points into Pain Tolerance and indecent armor would probably be the answer to my woes.

Then everyone is gonna have the same cookie cutter build picking the best perks.. I'm assuming your not playing with friends? The guys i play with thoroughly enjoy that we all specialize into different areas. One guy is the cook/hunter, another the melee/miner/meat shield, the intellect and crafting guy, the commando with lots of weapon skills and then me where I'm like a jack of all trades for when someone isn't playing in our group.

Hmmm this is a pretty terrible argument tbf. If the game needs to lock people out of stacking certain skills to make 'the ultimate build', that's a balance problem and a poor solution to it.

That being said the dude saying 'I had to be disrespectful or unheard' needs to put the pipe down, I've never once perked run&gun and have done just fine, calling it the most OP skill in the game is one hell of a stretch lmao
