Dishong Tower Challenge Modlet

This is the modlet I use when playing the Dishong Tower Challenge on Twitch and YouTube. I made it with Sphereii and Pitchsilent.

The modlet makes the following changes to the vanilla game:

  • Coal recipe = 1 coal from 5 wood in campfire
  • Farming plot recipe = 4 wood, 5 flesh, 5 nitrate, 100 clay
  • Food seed can be crafted from one food item, not gated by skill
  • Honey has been added to items available through vending machines
  • Paper money can be converted into coins by crafting
  • Stone arrows can be converted back to feathers by crafting
  • Glue recipe = 4 bones with campfire, 2 bones with chemistry station
  • Headlights wrenched from spotlights
  • 25% chance of battery from spotlights
  • 6 Plant fibers and clay from digging potted plants
  • 10% chance of getting tree seed from digging potted plants
  • 8 clay from harvesting destroyed stone
  • 30 Plant fibers from trees
  • Engine from wrenching AC unit
  • 25% chance of headlight from Work Light
  • 10% chance of battery from Work Light
  • Increased chance for nitrate in garbage loot containers
  • Fat Hawaiian, Moe, and Female Fat zombies can be harvested for rotten flesh and bones
  • Hazmat Zombies, Lab Zombies, and Nurses can be harvested for bones and nitrate
  • Nurse Zombies have a 10% chance to drop antibiotics when harvested
  • Lab Zombies have a 10% chance to drop a beaker
  • Frozen Zombie can be harvested for two snow balls (obviously)
  • Biker Zombie can be harvested for 1-4 oil
  • Bodies that can be harvested remain for 60 seconds before despawning

 

The modlet also creates a game world called "Dishong Tower Challenge" which spawns you directly in front of the tower with a stone axe, mining helmet, and helmet light. The tower is the only building in the world, which is otherwise surrounded by wasteland.

 

The rules of the Dishong Tower Challenge as we observe them:

  • You must enter the Dishong Tower immediately (being on the front porch counts as being in) and cannot leave thereafter.
  • You may build bridges off the side of the building to reach things, but those bridges must support themselves and cannot touch the ground.
  • You may not mine or dig under the building.
  • All default game settings, unless you want to turn up the size of the hordes and want to turn the loot respawn time down to 15 days.
  • If you die, the game is over.
  • You must survive until you are able to build a gyrocopter and fly off the roof.

This is AWESOME! It will be really nice to have this challenge again, but with each of the issues in the A18 version being addressed! It makes it really great that folks can all be using the same basic set of rules and changes. So, folks can get out their measuring tapes without one person using cm and the other using inches! Mine is bigger! :-o

I am not sure if the air drop targeting is coded in a way that it can be modded by us. For now, you have to just hope your pilot is a good shot. Besides... there's only one building! How hard could it be for him? lol

Aaah, yep :D

 

Yeah, you encounter vultures pretty much right away on the second floor. So you can still knock out the start quests pretty early on day one.

Does this mean no looting the cars and toilet and garbage on the outside of the POI?

 

The way I play it, if you want those things you have to be able to bridge out from the building with blocks unsupported by the ground to get anything. But, like I said in my tutorial video, I think people should play however they enjoy it most. It's about having fun.

I looted and harvested everything around the building before I finally entered it. :D

JK. Yeah, like I said in the tutorial, the rules are totally made up while being somewhat based on what others have done. In older versions, some people would allow themselves to leave after every horde night to go to a trader, some allowed themselves a day every 30 days to go outside and loot. Neither of those are really an option with this mod if you play on the game world we created. I think everyone should figure out the way the enjoy playing it and play it.

Some adjustments

 

Hey all! Made a couple of tweaks based on the input I have received from players. Thank you SO much for helping out, and I am glad so many of you are enjoying the challenge.

 

  • 8 clay from harvesting destroyed stone
  • Hazmat Zombies and Nurses can be harvested for bones and nitrate
  • Frozen Zombie can be harvested for two snow balls (obviously)
  • Biker Zombie can be harvested for 1-4 oil

Since alpha 18.2 b5 I can't load Dishong Tower challenge mod any more.

While loading the game it gives a localization error. The log says:
