zootal
I have my server updated to A18.2, but the client won't update. Has this not been released for Linux clients?
zootal
Yes, I have validated files via Steam. I have two Linux computer here with separate steam accounts. Neither will update to A18.2, and are effectively locked out of all of the servers that updated.
DEADFACE
did you remember to reenroll in the latest_experimental? After 18.1 went stable I had to change back to go to 18.2.
zootal
did you remember to reenroll in the latest_experimental? After 18.1 went stable I had to change back to go to 18.2. Oh bloody hell they changed my opt-in status...omg....really???? I had no idea that happened....I set it to latest_ experimental, why would I think to change it? Grrrrrr..... OK that worked. On behalf of all of us that, like me, are too stupid to check this, THANK YOU!!!
zootal
Two of my regulars are telling me the same thing - out of the blue their client did not update, and they, too, had to re-select latest_experimental. This has not happened before that I know of, when the varoius A17x builds went stable, we still had latest _experimental selected in steam. <shrug>
meganoth
I'm not sure it never happened before. What happened was that there was no experimental version available anymore. If you looked in the relevant steam tab when A18.1 was declared stable, the dropdown menue just had lots of older versions and "opt out of all beta..." but no "latest_experimental" anymore. If the steam client were a bit more intelligent, it could interpret the setting "latest_experimental" to mean "stable" when no experimental is available. Another possibility would be to leave the setting alone and never again update in case this was the last experimental ever. Instead it used option 3 and set a sane value among available options. zootal
I'm surprised we aren't hearing more about this here on the forums. I had 3 of my regulars complain they could not join my server after updating, and all of them had to re-select latest_experimental. We've been playing 7D for years, and I don't remember ever having to do this before.
