Vihtic
I like to progress as quick as possible when I play this game. So of course my first goal is getting a workbench and forge. I found those schematics quickly, after only a couple days. After that I of course had my eyes on the crucible. To unlock it through skills you need level 10 intelligence and 4 or 5 levels in the right perk. That was gonna take way too long so I spent my time clearing dozens and dozens of POIs. What I noticed is I was getting a crazy amount of duplicate schematics. Around 5 of each of the important ones like steel tools, armor, etc. And for smaller schematics, often around 10-20 duplicates. I had done so much looting but still never got the crucible schematic. I figured it was just extremely rare and kept going. On exactly the 21st day, I started getting tons of new schematics. I looted a few houses, and came out with like 8 new recipes. INCLUDING 2 CRUCIBLE SCHEMATICS. Are some schematics locked until certain game days are reached? Of course 21 days is the 3rd blood moon so it sort of makes sense. Since I reached 21 days, almost every schematic I get is new (including the perk books). I looked around online but couldn't find anything about this.
Whorhay
Loot quality is tied to player level, I believe. Around day 21 you probably crossed a threshold where higher level schematics became more common. You can of course use the Lucky Looter perk and the looting goggles to get better stuff earlier. SylenThunder
Here's a list from the xml. <!-- List of book / schematics groups: <item group="perkBooks"/> 100 <item group="schematicsModsCommon"/> 40 <item group="schematicsModsRare"/> 20 <item group="schematicsToolsCommon"/> 5 <item group="schematicsToolsRare"/> 12 <item group="schematicsWeaponsCommon"/> 14 <item group="schematicsWeaponsRare"/> 19 <item group="schematicsArmorCommon"/> 2 <item group="schematicsArmorRare"/> 2 <item group="schematicsVehiclesCommon"/> 4 <item group="schematicsVehiclesRare"/> 6 <item group="farmingCookingRecipes"/> 34 <item group="groupQuestChallenge"/> 20 --> That's basically the RNG used for deciding which group is pulled when you're looting. You can also find this interesting information at the top of the xml file... <!-- Generating quality and probability templates https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15TQ_P13gKYMb75eKlzzOxoEKCMINosQJIBBPpz2MONE Old: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MHeXohG2uKJEUKI82fPMjZN2PYBgsJJzO_-L6t-ddQw -->
Scyris
Trader had a crucible schematic for sale for me on day 2 in my game, its all rng. I've even found it on day 1 at times in loot, sometimes even a already made cruicble so I can make steel on day 1. Not that you can do much with it on day 1 though. Huggy
What I noticed is I was getting a crazy amount of duplicate schematics. Around 5 of each of the important ones like steel tools, armor, etc. In my first A18 game I played up to about lvl 65 and never found any steel tool schematics. Not one. I started a new game after I put the steel tools I had found in loot or bought from the trader into a "secure" storage chest during a horde night, and when the night was over found out the box had been destroyed - along with everything in it - due to the bug that allows crawlers to hit through blocks. Sigh. C'est la vie!
Orclover
I once picked up a 4x4 Jeep Accessories before the first 7 day horde, schematics for the chassis were in the same building. This was before I figured out how to get forged steel in the wild or I woulda rode out the first horde in style.
