manOyore
Has anyone had any luck throwing molotov's or hand grenades downward through an open hatch without setting oneself on fire or or worse, blowing oneself up? The day 28 horde destroyed the reinforced concrete blocks all the way around my base effectively turning it into a giant mushroom. I just can't kill them fast enough when they group up and they kept coming until dawn. I was hoping to replace some of the bars with hatches so I could drop molotovs or grenades on them to thin the horde a little. Otherwise I'm going to have to come up with something else for the next horde night which is rapidly approaching...
HungryZombie
I've seen videos people have made illustrating what you describe. The bottle rotates as you throw it and at some point the edge of the bottle/bomb intersects with the edge of the hatch. Makes it rare to get a good throw out. Something would need to be changed in order to throw reliably I think.
Orclover
Through a hatch? No, anything in the way other than cleared blocks seem to trigger the molotov, you can drop unprimed grenades but thats about it. The damage to POI"s was too great from the grenades and we about gave up on them. I was going to test them against LCB player blocks to see if the damage is mitigated, or they will be useless for horde night. I know you can "herde" the zeds away from certain blocks with spikes if you leave some blocks/paths uncovered and I think the old trick still works. Basically if you give the zeds a way to "get to you", even if it is a long hopping staircase, they will happily take it rather than mess with anything else. Jeraal
Really should be able to just drop a bottle through a hole, or hatch, in the floor.
Synvastian
every 3rd or so bottle seems to rotate a bit faster than others (might just be me, but the edge catches on those faster tosses)
AtomicUs5000
For grenades, they'll go down, but you can't wind up your throw. Maybe you can, but you if it hits something it's probably going to bounce back at you. A weakly dropped grenade is very likely to still fall in. Molotovs... forget it. Not going to happen. You need a 2 by 2 in order to be safe.
Kattla
Has anyone had any luck throwing molotov's or hand grenades downward through an open hatch without setting oneself on fire or or worse, blowing oneself up? Yes. But i've also had bad luck by doing it, so i learned to avoid it , and take that into account when i design builds.
Synvastian
I tend to leave a 2X2 "window" in the floor near bottlenecks for the purpose of mollys and haven't used my grenades yet (saving for hordebase 3 which has a reinforced corridor just for explosives use)
bigstep70
Really should be able to just drop a bottle through a hole, or hatch, in the floor. Its gotta be the way the mesh works. The hatch/door is OPEN or it is CLOSED The mesh/animation, on the other hand, does not "know" that it is supposed to be either, so it registers as closed. A bug... ?
