Doors

What is this? A wooden secure door doesn't stop the zombies because they tear that down quick. I crafted an iron door thinking that will stop them. No. They break my iron door down even faster. The whole point in having a safe house is to be safe. My safe house doesn't keep me safe. How can zombies break through an iron door with their bare hands? What is the point in this game? This game seriously needs fixing.

I guess you're new? Doors are just Zombie magnets. You should never expect them to keep anything out.

You have to get a little creative with your ingress/egress and build so that you have many strong blocks in any area zombies can reach. To start out, you should take over and fortify existing POIs until you get a better idea of how defense works.

This can be very simple and effective if you remove the stairs or any access to the 2nd floor, then build a ramp outside that you can use to jump across a gap to get in.

Welcome.

I came-up with this. At a balcony, I axed a hole in it and placed blocks under the stairs on the balcony and I put a ladder there. I took two pieces of ladder away that stop them. Now another problem. Even though the zombies can't get in for sure, now they won't go away and more and more of them arrive until I have about ten of them. I can't fight them all off with an axe and my stamina is too low to out run them and I have no food and no water. If seems every time I come across an idea something else crops-up where I still have another problem where it's one thing after another.

Just as an example our converted junk yard.

How do I craft that door? I've only seen two listed under crafting.

a club is better than an axe for fighting (better stamina economy per hit) axes are mostly for cutting down wood and breaking wooden structures, its why none of the attack styles boost axe damage/usage

place a ladder on the 3rd block up and jump to it, using the Primitive bow and arrows is the most effective way to deal with zombies at first, that and the wooden club

We got it with a schematic, but I'm sure there is one of the skills that will unlock it. Drawbridge is what you were asking about I think.

and something else I tell everyone who enters our base, crouch, crouch, crouch! Even just standing still you are more noisy standing up then crouching. It won't eliminate the Z's hearing you, but it might help reduce them some.

Oh man... to have the first experiences of 7 Days again would be great.

I remember after playing for a couple of days, I searched "7 Days to Die is too hard" to see what other people were saying about it.

Then, after a few more days I started searching "7 Days to Die is too easy".

I don't think it's too easy now... at least not for the first few in game days. It's the best part of the game in my opinion.

Yeah...an axe is not a weapon, just a tool.

Craft a spear. It's a great starter weapon because its long reach lets you stay out of range. If you build an overhang out of horizontal wood supports you can run around your base stabbing the zeds that gather up in relative safety.

You can also surround your walls with wood spike traps, though they will need to replaced pretty frequently.

All beginnings are tough, but onec you've gotten the hang of it you'll crave the days of constant problem solving.

In this game you can build fortresses. If a single door would stop zombies, why would you need to build fortresses?

They wont just tear down doors, they will tear down concrete walls. So you need to build stronger and better fortresses. Most fun part of the game IMO

The list only shows the items you can craft without a workstation.

The only way to see all the possible craftable items is through the search field : type "door" and all the possible doors will appear.

It's often a good thing when you discover the game to select an item in your inventory and click on 'recipes' : all the crafts that include that item will show up.

To be honest, this kind of story is what actually makes this game awesome.
