Sjustus548
Here lately on my map we have been searching for a desert so we can get some yucca, aloe, and oil shale. We've driven every road but one now and we are starting to lose hope. We haven't ventured off the road much so we are maybe thinking that the desert is very small and might be tucked in a corner somewhere. Has anyone else struggled to find a desert? Also, I've heard that oil shale can be found in other biomes and it is just more common in the desert. Is this true or is it solely found in the desert? skullpoker
For Yucca and Aloe you can build farm plots and plant any seeds you have found. It's not going to be a huge supply, especially if you don't have Living off the Land at rank 4+. As for the shale, I can't say that it is or isn't in other regions. If it is, it will have nice surface nodes with an oily sheen, kinda rainbow-like.
myrkana
I've not seen oil shale outside the desert at all. Might wanna look up your seed in the previewer (or go into DM and click hte switch on the map to biomes and look for the desert) and see if your desert is just really small

I loaded up my seed to preview it and discovered that the desert is a tiny part in the northwest corner of the map. The wastelands and burnt areas take up like 2/3s of the map. Now we are trying to decide if we want to deal with it or start a new map in hopes that we can find one that is better suited to our needs.
