Clay soil is still in the game. Barbed wire fences are still craftable, and barbed wire sheets are still available from the creative menu. I don't know why barbed wire sheets aren't craftable now, but Synvastian's explanation sounds plausible. I don't know what "forest burst" and "stell block" are. Just like the log spikes were removed for the same reason. Same for underground bases due to now digging zombies. Then in one Alpha the water physics got changed due to asshats on pve servers using the water to troll people by flooding their entire bases.
