I have made several new games, usd Navezgaine, pregen01/02/03 and generated new maps, and ALWAYS every single time I spawn in the middle of a massive desert. Please change this. It really takes the fun out of starting a new game if you now you going to have to dredge through a endless desert once again.

I guess it's bad luck, I spawned to a nice green area when I tried pregen03 but now I started another game on pregen01 and spawned into a burnt biome with nothing but desert in sight.

 

You're right that it's not so friendly for a level 1 character, especially when you have no vehicles yet.

I've read somewhere that they were working on limiting where you spawn (you won't in the wasteland for example), but don't know if it's implemented or how it's gonna work exactly.

I honestly wish there was an option to choose what biome to start in. Especially with random generated worlds, it sucks to spend the 15 minutes to generate the world and getting a terrible start. Last night I started in desert (meh), traveled and ended up in burnt biome (yuck), tried to go through burnt and ended up in wasteland (dammit).

I also spawned in the snow. I would take desert over snow, what with the constant encumbrance and hunger due to freezing and the lumberjack centuplets. But yeah, both are pretty bad.

As of A18 I'm pretty sure your initial spawn is determined by the name of your game. Change it from MyGame and you'll get a new start point and some rearranged POIs in the towns.

I've started 5 games in a18 and haven't been in desert yet. Like @quyxkh says try using a completely different world name. But tbh I embrace survival, everything the game throws at me even if it feels unfair = survival challenge.
