Also, it appears that the new client tasks the GPU for part of the map creation, which may cause a delay in creating maps on a headless server with no GPU. I thought something was wrong with the server because with A17 it would only take 5-10 to generate an 8k map. Even sent in a support ticket about it and was told server was still generating. SylenThunder Posted October 8, 2019 Share Posted October 8, 2019 Just did an 8k map in 30 minutes on an average PC with 12 cores, 32gb ram, and two GTX1060's. ShockValue Posted October 8, 2019 Share Posted October 8, 2019 I couldn't get a 16384 world to finish on a t2.2xlarge (8cpu 32G ram). Would get to the "Generating Detail Data" part as described above.. Sit there maxing out CPUs for about 4-5 hours and then silently die. Tried twice with the same result. A 4096 world finished generating with exactly the same serverconfig.xml (except world size) in about 20 minutes. With the number of people I play with A 4 and 8K map is really just fine.. But I kinda wanted to experience the expanse of a 16K world. Changes to RWG have been positive so far, other than the 16K silent crash. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I can't get anything bigger than 8K to complete without errors, and was told that "we don't currently support 16K maps". My rig has 32GB ram, Ryzen 1700 with 8 real (16 virtual cores), RTX2600. Ti2xGr Posted October 12, 2019 Share Posted October 12, 2019 If you run the Nitrogen 16K start file, it will put out a 16K map (assuming you have the memory to handle the creation as well). Timestamp begins Today at 15:42:48 and is still going at 19:55:45 and is utilizing 100% CPU usage and 21617MB of Memory. its pushing my cores to 153F in temps. who knew hosting 7D2D was so resource hungry lol. You can see from the log that I'm using dual X56806 Core 12 thread CPU's at 3.3Ghz and 64GB ECC DDR3 1333Mhz (However, it's Quad-channel so actual RAM speed is closer to 2666MHz) It's because Map generation has been optimized for the GPU, and the dedicated servers don't have GPU's. As a result it pegs all the cores. In my test, all 24 threads were at 70-80% load with occasional peaks into the 90's. This thread kinda died last year, so we'll shut it down now.
