RWG Dishong Tower/Vanilla RWG and Nitrogen map generator question

Does Dishong Tower prefab not show up in vanilla RWG worlds? I've previewed 5 seeds, mixed between 4096 and 8192 sizes, not one of them had even one single Dishong Tower. The worlds I generate with Nitrogen map generator usually have one or two Dishong Towers, but even with the hills and mountains turned to a minimum, I still end up with HUGE mountains that take 5 minutes to drive around to get to quests etc.. Should I just hand place a Dishong tower into a Vanilla world, or is there a way to turn Mountains in Nitrogen Map generator down to be similar to vanilla RWG mountains..

Dishong is my favorite POI, and I don't like to play a map that doesn't have atleast one of them and a few factories, so I have some decent options for top tier trader quests.

What should I do guys?

I have a Dishong Tower on my 8K nitrogen map with the "Lots of Cities" checked in the options, I may have more as I only traveled on one side of the map and only a small section of that but I did see one Dishong Tower for sure and it is in the forest biome. There is only one massive mountain that have seen but luckily there does not seem to be anything of interest on the top. I turned on the smooth option so 80% of what I have traveled has been all very small hills with a few larger hills here and there.

I circled all of the traders and areas with the barrels of gas just sitting around outside in the small desert town clusters and I mixed the biome map and the Preview Map together in Photoshop. It really is a cool map and I really like It. I left out the burning forest because I hate that biome and unfortunately I had to also remove the wasteland which I actually like, I wish there was an option to just remove the burnt forest.

I can upload the map if you would like to preview it. There are massive cities and on a mid range PC I get some FPS spikes here and there. I could turn down some settings to get better FPS but I have yet to even scratch the surface of just the small towns let alone cities. With the map being as massive it is I could be level 1000 before I explore even half of the map.

On FPS, my GPU is a GTX 1080 but my CPU which is an i7 860 @ 3.3GHZ is being completely taxed and the bottleneck is probably huge. RAM is not and issue, luckily I have 16Gb DDR3.

Yea my nitrogen maps usually have a Dishong tower, but the Nitrogen maps have WAY to many hills. The minibikes and 4x4 are hard to use on nitrogen maps because the mountains are way too steep and they are everywere, so the vehicles wont go up the mountains and going around them can take 5-10 minutes, and if you going around doing quests, that adds up exponentially.

Vanilla RWG has less hills and is easier to traverse across the map, but out of the 5 seeds I tried on Vanilla RWG, there wasn't a single dishing tower.

that's my dilemma :(

I want less mountains, but I still want dishing towers in my map. On the lowest hill/mountain setting, nitrogen still fills the entire map with mountains. If I use Vanilla RWG, I don't get any Dishong Towers.

Well my map has access to all cities and areas of interest that do not require going over any mountain, sure I have massive mountains but they are not necessary to climb unless I have a quest somewhere up one. I have had one quest which did require going up a hill I could barley go 1 KPH or less on a minibike I think I would have been better walking up but that was the only one. If you look at my map, there is a lost of paths you can take to any city without going near a large mountain.

If you do decide to do a Nitrogen map, do yourself a favor and do not add "vicious cracks" (they are massive and when you get stuck in them you HAVE to walk out there is no way any vehicle can get out of them) and chose "many roads" and "smoothest" for smoothing, I chose smooth and got a lot of terrain that is just bumps and small hills but the roads are damn near level everywhere.

Compared to Navegane the mountains are ridiculously high but there are few of them with the "smooth" option and I am sure smoothest" would have been even better. I am just happy with my map and maybe you have had bad luck, but I will never go back to Navezgane as it would be just too boring.

I suggest to keep at Nitrogen with the options I have mentioned and you will get a good map eventually. Do you have a PC that is taking too long for a 8K map? I get one in less than ten minutes on a medium PC with 16GB Ram and a 3.3Ghz i7. Also If you have a good image editor you can smooth out the height map by using a simple blur filter or just blurring the edges. I could do that for you if you would like, just save 8K maps in the options and you should have an image that is large enough to edit. The smaller the image the less editable they can be, an 8K map is 8,192‬ x 8,192‬ and is easy to edit with an image editor, that is if you have more than 4GB system ram otherwise you might be using your page file when editing. I am not that sure about it but for an image that size you should have well over 4GB on a 64 bit PC.

Not too sure how this will impact the map and it would be a bit boring to just have rolling hills but if that is what you wanted this would probably be the way to do it. It took about 5 minutes to edit with a Gaussian Blur and some basic filters.

The POI HM image has to be the same, just save as genHM and poiHM. The preview map would not be any different as it only shows the traders and city details. Like I said if you upload your genHM.png I could smooth it out for you and re-upload it too you and then you can get in the map and see if it works this way. To be honest I have no idea if this would work or not but it is worth a try.

I just tried out a heightmap that was practically all a blur and I got results from doing it.

Here is the heightmap: https://i.imgur.com/iBSy6zC.png

It is a bit ridiculous as seen in screenshot 2 but it does work. This would be great if you wanted a very flat plateau to build on without having to flatten the terrain with a bunch of shovel work.

Screenshot 2 is 70% to 80% of the entire map I think.

sorry didn't realize you actually replied to the thread! I've downloaded your blurry height map and it works perfectly, thank you! I really feel like this 95% flat height map should have been an option in Nitrogen to begin with.

It would be really cool if there was a thread that had some edited resource files to diversify some of the features, like craters that aren't perfectly circular, the fact that almost every river and lake is exactly the same, burnt biomes that aren't just simple purple squiggles but bigger like the forest and desert biomes,

etc …Just adding a few more resource images for each of these things would make a HUGE difference in the diversity of the maps, making them way more interesting.

At present the only way to get a map with an even amount of every biome is to edit the biome file yourself, I find it very odd that simple option isn't included in the generator. Someone with a basic knowledge of photo shop could create a zip file with some extra images to throw in the resource folder that fixes pretty much every one of these issues, and make 10 or so biome pngs … Its really weird the only way you can get snow with the generator is to have the North Snow South Desert option ticked... Its just little things like this that bug me about Nitrogen.
