7 days to die won't start missing executable

So I wanted to play Alpha 8.8 version of the game just to remind of the good old times(not that current the 7 days version isn't good)...and when launching the game from steam it gives me this message that "7 Days to Die won't start (missing executable)".

 

I tried to launch it from the folder and it works pretty well but I can't change mouse sensitivity setting. No matter how much I move the slider, it's an "x" instead of the sensitivity level number. Any ideas as to how to fix this? Tried this on Alpha 8.8 and it doesn't work, but when I tried on Alpha 10.4 it works to set the sensitivity (even tho the game can be launched only from the folder).

No idea. But you might try to install a different version (7 or 9), change the setting, look for the settings file (by searching for files changed in the last minutes on your computer for example).Save it and put it into the same location after installing version 8.8 again
