y_soap_74
1. Do you have any hope for the console version? 2. Are you allowed to team up with another publisher for console? 3. Are you talking to the Stranded Deep developers of how they got their rights back? 4. What did the update contain before TTG unexpectedly went out of business? 5. Why is the آ“legal issuesآ” not allowed to be talked about? 6. What are the legal issues? 7. In all honesty, how can we (the gamers) help with issues. Is it money? Persuasion? Etc. -I know 5 and 6 seem آ“personalآ” but please understand the players have been waiting over a year for answers. We are getting tired and Iآ’m sure you are too. Everyday I check the forums for any news and such. Iآ’m losing hope overtime. I really love 7D2D. Once I start a new world, my friends and I put lots of time and effort into it. On each world, we have at least 80+ hours spent on it. Weآ’ve had about 5 or 6 worlds. And devs, please no BS answers or this and that. Iآ’ve read enough forums to see that. crazywildfire
Not a developer but...... You not going to get answers. When they was live on twitch people tried to ask questions and they simply said they can't talk about it. That is as close to an answer you going to get. So maybe one will answer them but they goin to be short and sweet like this pretty much give or take. 1: they always have Hope. 2: if they have the rights back then yes the could if they choose. 3: not goin to pretend to even know this answer... I assume probably not because I'm sure they know what it takes just fighting the legal stuff. 4: think this one can go both ways. But really at this point I don't think it matters to be honest. So much more has changed on PC for the better to handle and work better. So the things that was added then on console was goin to help but it has improved since so they probably would start from scratch to see what they can do and not do and add and not add. 5: you answered your own question they are not able to talk about it 😆😆😆 6: again not able to talk about it. 7: I would assume they answer something like this. Just be patient it isn't about they money right now it is getting the legal mess straightened out.

You are assuming that their goal is to put out a console version on the level of the PC version. Even TTG was not targetting such a goal. So if they first want to put out a free update with lots of bugfixes in a reasonable time frame and at rather low cost they would have to finish the already built code and maybe add a few small features that are easy to include. A DLC or "7d2d reboot" on the other hand is 0) much more expensive (we are talking about renting a developor for at least a year) and probably only financially viable as a paid update or release 1) still possible after they have done the free update 2) would still benefit from some of the code IG already produced 3) would realistically be at least 2.5 years away as the PC version would have to be released plus x months, compared to maybe 9 months from now for a free update 4) A17 puts more strain on the hardware than A15/A16, I'm not convinced they will ever get down to A15's level again. There is the question if the newer versions will still fit on the old consoles, maybe they would have to go down with the resolution to accomodate?? It might make sense to target the new consoles only with a version based on the PC release version All IMHO, I'm just guessing that the free update is by far easier, cheaper (if we look at the upfront money investment) and faster to achieve, IF they can remove all legal obstacles. I never said that. If you look at any of my post you will see I already know console version was never promised to be like the PC version. But having the PC version and keeping up with it. The only reason console was getting more content because they updated unity that helps improve performance on a lot of things. Granted some things cost more but those are getting work for A18 so it will help once again performance. By now console version can get another unity update and therefore it is possible even more from PC can be put on it..... of course this is if they do another update, want to put that much more into the console and such. It has always been said they would try their best to match PC the best they can. This was TT but still I'm sure now that console version has been out TFP feel the same about wanting to do what they can and able. So guessing you assuming a little much thinking that I feel console will be up to date to the PC version. I will cut some slack and say you looked to much into my post or not hard enough 😉

What I was replying to was specifically this "...so they probably would start from scratch...". of course this is if they do another update, want to put that much more into the console and such. It has always been said they would try their best to match PC the best they can. This was TT but still I'm sure now that console version has been out TFP feel the same about wanting to do what they can and able. That was the plan from years ago of a now defunct company. What TFP ideally would want to do and what is realistically achievable at the moment are two shoes. You are surely correct (and I think even madmole said this) that once PC has a release out their goal is to eventually have a similar version on the then current aka next-gen console platform (again, if there is no legal road block). That makes sense. But that is the plan for lets say 2023 or 2024 and probably only for the next-gen consoles. The interesting thing NOW is if they can get an update for current console owners and this is IMHO only achievable in a reasonable time frame with the already produced code that will be very similar to A16 on the PC side. Mr8liner
Nothing is coming to console games. They made their money put in a little effort and are now done with it. It going bankrupt was a very convenient excuse for them. Too bad TFP didn't go bankrupt. Dont need companies.like that out there

Where are the facts they said theyare done with console? Where are the facts that they have lied to us or still doing so? I mean so far TFP have held up to what they agreed to hold up to. They have not given up on the PC side. They keep goin at it. Has it been in alpha for several years sure but so has other games plus some that recently left alpha that was in for 6 plus years. I mean usually the smaller team developers tend to be in alpha longer time vs bigger companies. Anyway point is they haven't stopped working on the game.... as far as console they sold of rights to another company to do console. Did they know TT would go bankrupt at the time? Nope. So console hasn't been touched in forever tell me what exactly are TFP supposed to do??? They are in legal matters so they can't touch the game right now...... oh excuse me let me put this update out now to hush these people up but pay this big fine that will cost me money to do so just to please everyone.... if you really believe they should you are truly crazy. Now I'm not saying at all that console isn't finished. But until they actually say one way or another we can only go by the last thing they have said.
