Dimpy
So what if there was a zombie that's like the cop, but instead of disolving blocks with acid, its bile hardened and turned into solid blocks? I could see something like that adding a lot to the tower defense aspect of the game now that gore blocks are gone.
RipClaw
According to what I've heard, the gore blocks have been removed from the game for performance reasons. So I doubt that any substitute would be implemented.

I would assume that the corpse model lootable blocks would cause performance problems, but when I said "gore block" I was talking about the early-alpha gore blocks that were basically just gravel/dirt with a bloody texture. AtomicUs5000
I would assume that the corpse model lootable blocks would cause performance problems, but when I said "gore block" I was talking about the early-alpha gore blocks that were basically just gravel/dirt with a bloody texture. That was a good idea, and I wish I would have played then. I think those types of gore blocks were removed for a couple reasons. One was that single gore blocks would look like diamonds because of how the terrain block density worked. I know that they've done some things to improve this part of the game recently, so something like this might look better now. Another reason I think I read once... and please take this with a grain of salt because I don't know the facts... is that when these blocks were created or destroyed the chunk had to be saved and reloaded as well as zed paths recalculated, and the two together during a horde night was too much. This also might not be an issue anymore with the newer AI, but I have no clue. Back then zombies would especially target doors, so the gore blocks would almost always block doors right away. Even if this is improved now, it only makes sense that these blocks have gravity... so there would be performance loss with that no matter what. I like this idea, and I think it would be fun to have in the game. However, the more I think about it, the lesser I think it would actually impact the gameplay. The way the zombie AI is now, most of these blocks are likely to get destroyed the moment they are created. They would block paths to the player and the zeds would go into their area attack mode and wipe them out. The only thing I could think of to make that better would be to make them more climbable by the zombies... but doing this would result in even taller, less ramp-like, gore piles, so the benefit would not last long. Then we have the issue of what to do with these blocks when they are in traps. Are they destroyed as well? Do they cover up spikes and barbed wire? Do they end up doing more damage to blade traps? Do they block electric wire fencing and turrets? Do they add weight to pressure plates? On top of all of these problems to deal with in the code, the player also has problems to deal with. All these blocks would have to be cleaned up by the player. Those who disliked cleaning up bodies are likely to dislike this for the same reason. This doesn't bother me though. I think in order for TFP to put back something like this into the game, someone is going to have to make a mod for it, and present this in a way that makes sense, doesn't impact performance, and proves to add something special to the game. Well, that's why I suggested block spitters instead. Anyway, there are already blocks(like doors) that zombies prioritze differently in the new pathing system, so it would be really easy to make zombies try to avoid breaking the zombie-placed blocks. Then we have the issue of what to do with these blocks when they are in traps. Are they destroyed as well? Do they cover up spikes and barbed wire? Do they end up doing more damage to blade traps? Do they block electric wire fencing and turrets? Do they add weight to pressure plates? That can't happen unless the game gets support for superimposing two blocks in the same space (like what minecraft recently added for water.), and I'm guessing that's never going to be worth it.
