Zombie Pathing and Base Design

So I jumped back into A17 recently and its almost time for me to get started on my own base build. However, as I do like to plan things out early before starting, I've been trying to read up on the way the pathing works for Zombies now in A17. One thing I do get is that currently, if there is no viable way for the zombies to get to you, they'd start randomly thrashing everything around them.

So the way I envisioned is to have a double layered wall. The inner wall is going to be something like a 9 x 10 Inner base with two doors on the Odd number walls. I will then have an outer layer wall with a space of 2 blocks from the Inner base surrounding it. The outer wall will have 2 block wide entrances on the Even side of the Inner base. Something like this.

W________________W

W_____WWWW_____W

W_____D____D_____W

W_____WWWW_____W

W________________W

Now the thing is this. I've read that they need a path to you to ensure that they just don't go about wrecking everything. But if I were to put doors, do those doors count as an obstruction and they'd just start wrecking the place? Also, If I were to maybe stick to 1 door only, would that increase that likelihood?

E.g.

W_____D___WW

W_____WWWWW

W__________WW

The idea i have is that I'm trying to funnel them into something of a kill-box and engage them from them. It would also allow me to plan where to put my base defences in the future so that I can maximise their usage.

W = Wall, D = Door, _ = empty space for Z's to path

Doors definitely count as accessible path. Two doors on different sides have the advantage that you can try to close and open doors to lead them to the right or to the left.

Even walls count as accessible as far as I know, doors are usually just much less hit points in the path calculation, especially when they are open. What doesn't count as accessible is anything on a higher elevation without access route, i.e. if you are standing on a big bloxk of granite and no ladder from the ground or stairs are going up to it.

If you make your kill box walls 2 blocks thick, they work really well (I know, I had one in my last game, pictures in this post ).
