Gavb12345
I'm trying to figure out if I have a generator followed by a switch then lights that if I turn the switch off with the generators still running does it drain the fuel or stop it's use till the demand by the switch is turned back on. Thanks in advance and any links on using it would be useful if there's anything you pit can recommend? Thanks in advance Gav. - - - Updated - - - And for instance in survival which one wins? Solar, generator or battery bank? Or do they all have there set purposes? And does it make a difference to the output between the three of them as I see the generator can produce a max on 300w per each one
Gavb12345
Are there only two option for lights at present?
meganoth
You can simply check this yourself in the game. Either when you access the generator bank or hover over it with a wire tool it will tell you the actual drain (I don't remember which one does it but I remember it gets shown) And yes, turning on lights, dart throwers or blade traps adds a lot of drain, turning them off removes it again. Gavb12345
Thanks Mega and yeah I notice when the switch is off it stays with no power which is useful and saves me ever switching the generator off - - - Updated - - - And I've got about 40 dart traps and 30 to 40 blade traps I need to hook up lol

Gavb12345
I can do indeed although I need to rig it up with trigger plates but I'm having difficulty getting my head around it... just like my farm lol... Like I swear for each trap I need a trigger plate but how do I rig it? Dart trap, trigger plate, relay, generator? Really new to this but I just wanted to make a absolute beast of a base lol.. should of saw how long it took me to dig the trenches for it! Easily day 21 plus on 120 min days and I have a whole floor of iron bars to attack from above - - - Updated - - - All on solo survival apart from my swimming pool which I had no choice but to use water blocks to fill my swimming pool to 4 blocks deep and that was a mission in itself

Wiring gets complicated as soon as you put it into a horde base. Wiring is limited, i.e. there is always only one input connection on any electrical device and therefore you can only implement "and" logic with this wiring. So it is possible to make something turn on if a switch AND a trigger plate is activated (by connecting those in series like you listed in your dart trap example), but it is not possible to make something turn on if a switch OR trigger plate is activated. Since you can put multiple output wires on any electrical device, one switch or trigger plate can turn on multiple items though.

Gavb12345
So I couldn't upload all the screenshots on here due to upload limit but to give a detailed image of what I've done I've uploaded them all to steam so you can check it on there and feel free to send us a friend request but anyhow my steam name is: butler_121 and also bare in mind its still very unfinished, however the trap system design is pretty much done other than me adding electric fences, iron spikes and maybe barbed wire and maybe addind more blade traps but yeah just trying to finish of the farm above before I start building a fully fledged house lol... all on survival and 120 min days its been a mad grind
meganoth
Thanks for posting the pictures, I could access the pictures in steam too. Impressive megalomaniac building , I especially liked the dart throwers behind slits. I'm thinking of copying that design for the front yard of my next home base. I'm thinking of copying that design for the front yard of my next home base. not just 1 slit two slits the thinnest parts of each slit meets together and I may do a video regarding this Mega but I thought 1 wall of slits wasn't good enough so I did two and now I'm considering whether two will suffice but I've designed it in such a way that if that fails I have the iron bars above and a internal room inside the dart trap system with iron bars so I could fight right where the dart traps are if they are destroyed or go up higher and fight on iron bars inside the area or outside of it but without showing the full base via vid its difficult to explain the complete concept but I'm hoping by day 100 it should be complete with the house build on top of the whole trap system but solo survival takes a damn lifetime to do it! Titdiscus
Hello, A small question about the solar panel please I connect the panel equipped ramp to a Battery Bank and then to a projector. It marks me 5w (the conso of the projector) but nothing is charged in the Battery Bank to allow to continue worked at night. Or have I done wrong? Thank you
meganoth
Hello, A small question about the solar panel please I connect the panel equipped ramp to a Battery Bank and then to a projector. It marks me 5w (the conso of the projector) but nothing is charged in the Battery Bank to allow to continue worked at night. Or have I done wrong? Thank you I tried out the solar panels and they really work, but always seem to show only 5w drain. I made a connection solar panel --> battery bank --> switch --> 3 blade traps. I let the blade traps drain the batteries in the night. Then turned off the switch in the morning and saw the panel slowly "repair" the batteries in the battery bank. Beelzybub
I have the same setup Titdiscus and it works. I wire from solar panel to battery bank to lights, and the batteries stay charged up. Maybe you need more output from the solar panel?
Epicurius
Hey all. Good thread OP. Thanks for the pics too. I have played 7dtd for a while now and just now am delving into the electricity part of the game. One poster above made a point that I have not been able to get to work. If anyone would offer a suggestion, I would greatly appreciate it. My wiring job looked like this: Generator1 -> Relay1 -> Blade Trap1 Relay1 -> Blade Trap2 Relay1 -> Blade Trap3 Relay1 -> Blade Trap4 Relay1 -> Blade Trap5 Relay1 -> Blade Trap6 Please note that I was running multiple wires from Relay1 to each of the blade traps. With this setup, only Blade Trap1 worked. I rewired it to look like this: Generator1 -> Relay1 -> Blade Trap1 -> Blade Trap2 -> Blade Trap3 -> Blade Trap4 -> Blade Trap5 -> Blade Trap6 Make note that all are in a daisy chain. The issue with this is when any of the traps get destroyed, the rest down the chain stops working. I am wanting to build in better survivability in the traps for sure. Just not sure the best way to do it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

See pictures, all the blade traps and spotlights are working.
Data
@ Epicurius what was your total output wattage of the gen?
Epicurius
At the time I think about 150? I'm not sure though. If the wattage is too low, will that stop all the items drawing power to not work or just the ones that go over the wattage limit of the generator. From what I have read, each blade trap is 20w. and each relay is 1w. So I was thinking I was at about 101w draw. I will test this again next time we get on and play. BTW - Thanks all for the reply. Gavb12345
Damn I still haven't run my traps and I'm thinking extra blade traps but really unsure how many I should link to each relay and I would like to implement single trigger plates to each dart trap it's going to be interesting and @ Epicurius I believe it will stop them but it seems odd it'll make one work and 5 not and I'm sure you have the right wattage needed it could be a bug... I've had my wires dissappearing and moving position and my simple lights also become invisible/disappear but will come back when I'm right next to them
