Inmyh3ad
After some leveling and spending perk points into mining, it's finally time to make some bullets. Is the best option to mine potassium nitrate still the snow biome? I don't like farming boulders so that's just a temporary option right now. Now with the gravel spots removed, I have no idea where to start digging and mining. Who wants to share their experience?
Ezed
After some leveling and spending perk points into mining, it's finally time to make some bullets. Now with the gravel spots removed, I have no idea where to start digging and mining. Who wants to share their experience? Winter biome yes, (or wasteland iirc but check the mining entry in your journal...it breaks them all down). Gravel sampling hasn't been removed (or changed or whatever they're going to do) yet so that still works. Actually, all ores can be found in any biome, but each biome has a predominate type...again, check that journal page. You could get lucky and find a nitrate node right close to your base). canadianbluebeer
I have a huge nitrate node under a hill in the forest biome. They can be found everywhere, but snow is where they are predominant yes.
Inmyh3ad
Hmm okay thanks for both replies. Our base is currently in the desert biome far south so it would take a whole day to find and mine some in the winter biome up north. I'll try some gravel patches in the forest biome then. mgreg68
The journal does list the snow biome as the predominant place to find nitrite; however, that was not my experience in 17.2 rwg. I searched a couple large snow biomes for several in-game days with my trusty gyrocopter and shovel, littering the landscape with enough holes to pass for a WW1 battlefield, and only managed to find iron ore and lead. Moved to a forest biome and almost immediately found nitrite. This is, of course, quite anecdotal, and ymmv.
Beelzybub
Also ancdotal, but I've only found nitrate in a desert biome so far in 17.4. That was just small pockets of it intermixed with a bunch of shale.
Inmyh3ad
We are digging our base inside a mountain in the desert and so far, we found iron and a lot of lead (mined more then 1k and still counting) so it seems that the veins are mostly random generated in line with the predominant ores.
