The notion that there has to be a story in order for NPCs to be valuable, is IMHO ridiculous.

And none of them require any sort of storyline to be introduced into 7D2D.

 

 

Nothing more has to be in the game. Its playable now "as is".

 

But, being able to conditionally add content that potentially expands a players experience would be universally accepted by all who understand they are optional.

 

I'm not interested in one storyline, more of a story generator or an interactive story based on what the player does and even how they build their character! That would be fun for me with a lot of unexpected interactions. :)

I've been invited to join the inner circle and ask my questions. Seems just a little too easy. I've been resisting but I think it's too late for me. Tonight I'm going to make the leap to discord and I just hope I don't wake up to find myself in a spontaneously arranged international marriage or finding all my assets signed over to Tony Robbins...

Right, as another pointed out they boiled the shotguns down to a generic shotgun weapon that can be modded to be double barrel. Which, and I am no means knowledgeable about gun construction, is a bit "extreme" to be called a mod. Attachments, duck bills, etc sure. But adding an entire additional barrel to a weapon would be a complete reconstruction. That would be like saying "Yeah, I modded my Prius and now its a 4x4 truck".

 

Game system wise, yeah I get why they made shotguns generic. I hope they make both types of shotguns viable though, so you can decide accuracy/range and outright stopping power and it actually be a reasonable tactical choice.

I thought dismemberment was working but locked behind perks. ?

 

Which was a shame as I loved seeing zombies get blown apart and legs and arms flying off, then the torso still coming at you haha.

 

Try the blade weapons and aim for the limbs.

Have a look for yourself and then look at a16 options,a17 removed some basic textures like asphalt and the metal pipe texture. Plus a17's are not very uniform as in the black metal texture is light grey if you have reflections on and the green rust looks like wallpaper now instead of cool radioactive rust with peeling paint. It definitely needs another look and our fingers miss the hold down to paint haha

Re Textures

Got to admit as a player I would like a few more container textures - one for clothes - one for books (the book texture isn't on the paint tool now) , one for car parts , and perhaps something for raw materials.

But the real pain comes when I've been doing prefabs , finding enough different texture combos. We could do with more floor tiles/carpet , different coloured concrete/metals , plus a few more different concrete trim or wood trim finishes.

No more bullet sponges, but if the player has no armor, a LBD zombie will one-shot kill the player.

 

I believe that's what it means.

That or Learn By Doing.

Any thoughts about Mod quality for A18? example Wood Splitter could have the default level but with advanced Engineering and Hammer and Forge (2 perks needed?) you could combine the mod with an other item like a blade mod to make it peerless and do XX more damage.

 

it would be cool to be a valuable crafter that has no hunting skills but still make XP and Money by making high level items.

and Please give us a SIDECAR mod for the motorbike and extra seat mod(s) for the Helicopter and 4x4 (think desert Rat TV series gunner position with M60 on Jeep for horde night.

Sphereii took the initiative to document Xpath, because he's just that awesome. He and xyth were *already* documenting sdx, so it made sense to him to document xpath as well.

 

It was not insider information, it was initiative.

 

There is no inner circle, but cream does rise to the top.

 

He's humble, but Sphereii is probably the best programmer out of ALL of the modders, except maybe Hal and Morte, so it makes total sense they would speak to one another... Because they can speak on levels the rest of us plebes just simply wouldn't understand.

 

I've no clue where you got your tin foil hat from, but there is no conspiracy, and no inner circle; just like minded people getting together doing like minded things.

 

Nothing more.

 

Xpath isn't some mysterious knowledge, it's a real thing, that exists in the real world. Sphereii happens to know it (and many other things), so he volunteered to write a tutorial.

 

And look how much modding has taken off as a result. He's fracking Oz.

 

It's only "official" because it's correct, and because it has the name in the title. No pimp said "hey, write this".

 

Hal is listed in the credits, but is he tfp? No. He's a guy who took the initiative to do something no one else did, that helped the community and the game (block converter from a14 to a15 I think?).

 

No conspiracy. No "inside knowledge". Just modders, being proactive.

 

Alloc was a modder once. Did the dedicated server tools.

 

Gazz was a modder once. Did a huge amount of tutorials on block si.

 

You want insider info? Do something awesome.

 

Like they did.

Pretty much this. I modded Doom II, Quake, Oblivion, Skyrim. You just have to tinker and try stuff. Me and another modder prototyped the first custom animation in Oblivion which led to animation in Skyrim etc. Basically some other game that used gamebryo released some tools that created animation files but they didn't work out of the box. I fiddled with export settings and a programmer wrote a file conversion utility and we made it happen. It changed history for the modding community. Pretty soon 3dsmax plugins were developed and all kinds of other tools.

 

You just have to get your hands dirty and start a project that people are interested in, and the rest will come. I always just did stuff and people would like to talk about it and share info. I'd post questions and usually someone would answer half the time with code I could practically copy paste. That is what is cool about the modding community everyone does it for the passion of it.

Right.. I think "sawed-off shotgun" is where the confusion was.. not a double barreled shotgun. Heck, I got caught up in that too. Looks like time for coffee #2.

We're still cooking up ways to decouple crafting quality from INT.

Isn't the entire library of what we paint with available to users? That is a crap load of textures.

 

Sadly its not, I even found at least one paint (on the Navezgane road bridges, the asphalt) that you can copy with the (dev)paint tool but not select from the paint selections.

 

At least we have a lot of paints at our disposal and its great, but it could be better if indeed all of them where on the list.

No worries. To each of us, there are things we would love to see but unfortunately we can't keep adding/changing things forever. Thats how we ended up in alpha almost 6 years now.

sawed-off shotgun look like double barrel to me but im not an weapon expert so i dont know. very similar but one is just shorter
