I recently read in this thread that the shotgun was a mediocre weapon. On my current game I am specialized in strength and I just found a purple shotgun. So I put 4 points in the skill 'boomstik', installed the mods that stick to my style and, as we are the day 35, I climbed onto my roof to greet the weekly band of morons.

 

Conclusion: the shotgun is perfectly balanced, ultra powerful and is an excellent end-game weapon (I kill irradiated in 2 headshots).

 

I play survivalist with hordes in speed "nightmare".

Of course, the frequency of reloading may be a problem for players familiar with the M60, but in the end I spent 3 times less ammunition than with the AK (and they are much cheaper).

 

And concerning the double-barrel, I use it frequently in the beginning : it's the assurance to kill quickly and surely in close quarters without being hit.

 

I thought the game is balanced for all levels, it's not. So my feedback on shotguns not doing it's job on insane is irrelevant. I think devs also buffed it recently but yer as beHype said pump does ok but is a late game drop usually, the other two albeit fun (max reload blunderbuss is kewl), don't do anything on Insane so compared to other trees shotty's felt off.

 

Haven't tested shotty's after the buff, although might drink some elixir soon, current stealth build is not so fun without the nvg, day 35.

You eventually reach a point where you cant increase your damage anymore with a given attribute and a maxed out weapon. And yet the game stage keeps increasing.

 

Should there not be a cap on the main attributes so our damage can keep up with the rising gamestage?

I recall MM saying you could go past 10 in the future by wearing +attribute items.

Not quite there, yet. It's going to get a buff... but not in DPS which is what many consider the only useful stat of a weapon. =P

 

It was designed with a heavy crowd control component and due to animation shenanigans and a too generic approach to stuns it didn't really do that.

I'm worried it will take out a lot of the old feeling of being left alone in a indifferent world. With all the leveled loot and if this system gonna sit and judge what enemies it deems I could find, or if I play badly it will make it easier for me, not putting me in charge of my destiny in the world so to speak. The only rule over a player should be random roll in a sandbox game, I think there is a danger to have a system watch over and make active decision regarding what enemies to encounter (except on bloodmoon, since there's no way to avoid that as a player)

 

7Days has been one of my most time played game on steam since I started playing in A14, but I'm just terrified it will evolve into something I don't want to play (without options to mod it right) Since it has no real equal to swap to.

I hope it will be used to populate the world again, but used wrongly, I think it can hurt the experience and fullfillment as a player. If I'm doing great, is that because I'm good, or the game thinks I'm bad so I get easy obstacles? Or turned around, I'm being skilled so the game punishes with extreme dangers until it's over? It's a hard balance which I don't feel the game should make in a sandbox type.

 

All this is of course just speculation from that text Madmole wrote so I'm taking it with a grain of salt understanding we don't have the full picture, but best to atleast point it out! :)

 

Personally, after the first week it almost becomes a set routine quest, loot, mine, build. So any random events to mix things up sounds great to me. Addition of wandering horde was good but still isn't enough for me.

 

I'm also someone who likes harsh conditions to make the game feel more survival, I have blood moon every night with a range of 4, it makes it very random. If the game isn't challenging me I get really bored. So if I'm doing well, getting good xp and not dying I certainly look forward to more challenge. I mean you can complete a T5 clear quest with Q3 or 4 weapons, what's the point of finding all that great higher tier loot if there's nothing challenging to use it on.

Thing is I'm not saying that we should become all powerful, the shotty's perk bonus is cripple and stun, it's almost a necessity on higher difficulties and nightmare speed. But it wasn't coming into effect. So with the slow reload and small mag size the Strength ranged weapons becomes a real problem and falling behind other attributes.

 

* Brawler is king for me atm, machine guns, fists, great survival perks

* Intellect stun baton + turret combo is wickedly awesome and who doesn't want a discount at the traders?

* Agility, archery starts off slow but is a powerhouse later on, blades are my fav weapons (looking at u machete u sweet sweet curvaceous beauty), Gunslinger bonus crit damage perks are awesome even on pistols.

* Perception, haven't played much

 

But as Gazz stated it's balanced for default settings which makes sense tbh. Maybe when all is finished other difficulties will get looked at.

The next thing you remove from the game are brass items?

Well, after all, the truth is, why are they needed if you can just find ready-made brass scrap, extract brass scrap from doors, cars, batteries and other objects?

Why do these intermediate objects if we scrap them or melt them in the forge anyway?

This has been bugging me as I can no longer get NVIDIA Freestyle filters to work, NVIDIA Experience simply doesn't pick up the app when I scan it (active directories point to install location) even though it's been supported for a while. Worked with a few exp branches and stable but on B5+B6 exp no go. All my other games with support work just fine.

 

Wondering if experimental branch stops it working now, how is Freestyle working for others here?

Yes, I use it all the time. It's hard to climb hills with a makeshift bike IRL. I think it's a really good reason for wanting to get that minibike or motorcycle

these are for creative menu only and not planned for player create, hence no recipes.

 

sorry, i love them too but was told ... (not every dev block is to be available for crafting) :)

 

 

good luck tho, maybe we can have them later, never know.

 

That's annoying i don't understand why that block set would only ever be "dev blocks" its perfect for vehicles not to mention it adds more customization to the game which is great. the more verity the better. I hope that they put it into the helper block selection soon. seems like an easy thing to do.

There was an update that added steel tool parts to traders but they still seem far too rare, even with the barter skill increase. Solar banks and panels are also far too rare seeing as we can't make those at all. I've only seen a trader sell one solar panel once.

 

There seems to be a couple of dupe bug regarding the 4x4 in coop. We haven't been able to replicate any of them yet but I think one has to do with the trader jobs resetting a POI and the 4x4 being within that reset radius.

 

We logged out for the night outside the POI ready to reset it hit it the next day. Instead, I came back in earlier in the day, reset the POI and cleared it out myself. I took the 4x4 back home, everything seemed fine. We both logged in much later, I drove past the POI and there was another 4x4 in the same place as the last one, I wasn't there when I logged in earlier. The contents were identical to the original. We took it as a backup 4x4 and carried on.

 

The next day we logged in and a third appeared in the same place with the same contents as before. Destroying it seems to have stopped it appearing.

 

This second bug is likely due to the first bug. We logged in with the two 4x4s parked outside the base, the other player went to take his 4x4 but it remained in place by the looks of things (did a little bounce as it was taken) and he ended up with one in his inventory. It did the same for me with both 4x4s. It seemed like it placed multiple copies of the 4x4 in the same place because we ended up with a dozen of them in the end.

The same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. :p I picked up my minibike, put it away in a chest, went back outside, and it was back out there. Picked it back up, and now I have two. :p

We ended up with 16 actually, I'll keep the others hidden away though just in case.
