A rocky start to the weekend

I’m tired of all these rock jokes. One more rock reference and my temper will burst. Let me ask a you a serious question. Who is your favorite fictional boxer portrayed by Silvester Stallone?

Only if it's the only option for getting a farm flush with the ground. We'll see. =)

Why go to all that work just to bend over? The farm boxes 1 meter high are perfect height to harvest and easier to hit, especially for like mushrooms that have a tiny hit box.

"all that work just to bend over"

The irony of that statement when referring to a game like this. 'OMG, I had to move my mouse a quarter of a inch! I am so exhausted.'

Personally I would like both options but have the farming boxes give a benefit like faster growth time or higher yields.

Oh - thought that I just edited in. If plants were biome specific in that they normally only grow in a certain biome, then the boxes would allow you to grow those plants anywhere. Like yucca and aloe could only be grown in a desert unless you planted them in a box.

Madmole, what's your favorite part of your current Agi/Int build? Thoughts on what could use adjusting?

He's nearly a strict perception build so far. Kill streak is pretty cool and the penetrator is starting to be cool. I'm looking forward to one shotting most zeds in the body and certainly everything in the head. Contact grenades are a tier 5 perk, but I got lucky and found the schematic, they are so much better than bouncing ones. Non horde night combat with them is really good. It gives me crowd control.

I haven't fired one rocket yet or used a timed charge, but I found a RL so I will try it soon.

Actually, I think you are confused between Features and bug. I often see project with no none bugs, but 100s of known small feature been missing. But yes, as soon as you release something none bugs get involved again and start rising. So it is continous cycle. But I think you guys have good hold. some of those "bug" that sit for years are actually just feature that are not important.

Bugs are bugs. Ones we don't want to fix end up becoming features lol.

how about molotovs?? can we throw them now without getting on fire so often? (earlier today i got on fire while at 4 block high from its point of impact)

They have been improved but I don't use them except early gs since this guy is specializing in explosives. That's like having an m60 and using a smg.

well i am not quite sure thats a good thing, specially since is one of the most common feature in the videogame industry when a developer tries to suplement lack of content with grind, ofc i am not saying thats the reason in this case but consider:

A) It makes the gameplay experience grindier (wich is not always a good thing)

B) Takes away value from the ability to craft better items by adding points to intellect (why bother with crafting if i can get better stuff looting)

C) Adding a ton of stuff to the loot pool kinda makes the items feel ... less special? in the current A17 you decide what you want and then you work for it, easy simple and rewarding. randomizing stats and adding a big loot pool could probably give the same feeling of frustration Diablo/Anthem/"Any other shooter in existence" players get when they invest time to chase after a specific item and dont get it.

on a side note i would like to mention the fact that even tho i have lots of fun in hordes, opening up a yellow loot bag to get: "can of food" "bottle of water" or suff like that feels a bit insulting, feels like the developers made zombies drop loot just to be able to say "hey guys zombies drop loot again, hurray".

And lastly for now, have you consider the possibility of adding "segments" of loot, like:

End game/Special items: Only droped in hordes (hazma suit for example)

Mods: Only found in houses

Armors: only drope by ferals

Weapons: Only droped by radiated, etc

the above is just an example i made up just now, the idea would be to give a special meaning to every aspect of the game, as of right now clearing and looting a house once you have the level at wich radiated are a common occurence is not worth it when you know the best you gonna get is either: weapons/mods that sell for stuply low ammount of dukes, Armors to melt/Scrap, food or drinks. there is simply no motivation to do it, i can gear up much faster crafting and selling to trader and buying what i need from them wich oversimplifies the experience a lot, this would motivate people to play different aspects of the game without feeling forced to "grind" until RNG decides to reward you.

As the author of minibikes for dumb♥♥♥♥s and forge ahead, I will tell you that I like it. If you hated those kinds of things then you might not like A18. It feels like Fallout now in the way that there is a million cool things to find, and like diablo in that you might find a version of the same item that has better stats, or one better, one worse so there is a choice to make.

To me, this combined with the slower leveling and ungated attributes has taken the game from a 25 hour game to a hundred+ hour game with just one build. IF I can just sit back and craft the best guns/armor where is my incentive to loot? I don't have it. So once you get so far, it turns into building a big base you don't need.

If you call looting grinding, then this might not be your cup of tea. I find it extremely enjoying and so does the team.

Or just an additional block with the same function as a planter box, but with appearance like a dirt block. Not the same as tilled dirt, but at least looks better when put in the ground.

If I blink twice I need help fast!

You actually might find some fools on the forum to help you. Because they are still single and don't know what they are getting in to.

Not me though. I may be single but I heard ... stories.

Trench? No. I'll be burying around 100 boxes. :-)

Clearing that much soil probably isn't going to take much longer than tilling it would have. Worst case scenario I can kludge the trench traps with some form of plate.

100? Are you role playing a farmer?

My little rooftop garden is overkill with no perks. I don't buy living off the land. I cook whatever recipes I find. I was on boiled meat until level 40 with this character and I finally found a recipe for meat stew.

Also If it's raised I am afraid zombies would get blocked by it and destroy it.

Someone finally figured out my diabolical plan :)

Gazz & Madmole, it is really not just a farming issue. It happens anytime you place a block flush with the ground. Now I agree it is not a must fix bug for 18 or even 19 for that matter, but I do not think it is appropriate either for the developers to react the way you have. It should be as simple as adding a function call when placing a block to check the adjacent tiles and adjust density where necessary. Aesthetically this should be fixed prior to shipping. Perhaps everyone is overworked this close to dropping 18 which is understandable, but please believe we all just want to help improve the game and not harass you.

One tiniest of change to density can hose 1000's of hours of man sculpted terrain work, so we're not looking at it right now. It would be very easy to restore a hoeless version of farming voxels, just make dirt upgrade to farm class soil terrain block with nitrate and rotten flesh in your inventory. Then players could have 17 farming back, but we're in content lock so it can wait until after the ♥♥♥♥storm.

A 4x4 square of each type of plant. Enough to never have to worry about food or meds ever again.

Rooftop gardens feel too cheesy. There's limited space above my keep, 12 blocks, 11 including a ladder.
