Dimpy
Right now, in order to make certain things like guns and modifications, you need to not only have a lot of points put into intelligence, but also have a schematic. It kind of feels stupid that my character can build a stone axe from scratch, but somehow isn't smart enough to understand how to pound metal spikes into a club EVEN WITH step-by-step instructions on how to do so right in front of him. You should only need one or the other, the proper perks, or the schematics, not both to be able to craft things.
PixelLife
I dont really mind the Schematics, but once youve built it once with the schematic, you shouldnt have to find another one again to make it another one.
Forien
Learning from schematics was way better IMHO. Because, if I made 2 exact same items for me and a friend i should be able to remember how to build another 3 for the rest of the party. Alternatively, make schematics "not consumable". Like if you drink tea, you get jar, then when you craft something from schematic, you get the thing and schematic back.
Khulkhuum
I agree that it was better to have schematics for learning how to do things, not simply "one-time craft". I also liked in one of the mods i played in A16 where almost everything was behind a book to learn and you started with choosing your class - this gave you the knowledge how to make basic things. Later on you could start another class and learn more. Would love to have 90% of recipies locked and you'd have to learn them by reading books, but at the same time these books would be quite common (at least for the easiest things) which would push incentive towards traders and exploration. Dimpy
Are you supportive of the idea that both perks AND schematics could unlock recipes on their own, though?
Khulkhuum
I like the idea some games have when you can have quite a big of items on a crafting list in a craftstation, but when you put in schematics more craftables appear or they get unlocked. One could think in a manner of a schematic folder on the crafting table which you add more schematics and build things from there. I'd say it's a more immersive way to look at reading schematics to know how to craft some things. I personally would love to get at least some things crafted to be locked behind schematics that you have to find.
Arysto
Actually it's not the same, when you don't have skills you can't use schematics, but you can use modifications either you have that skills or not Sorry, wrong topic, how to delete reply?
