14 Day Horde Base, 500 Block Damage received, near full XP gain

Just thought I would show off a super easy base design that worked ridiculously well for me for my 14 day horde. Had 3 cops and about 8 vultures on the first wave. Logged out and back in for another wave and had no vultures and 4 cops.

Here is the base. Standard birdcage on solid 5x5x5 reinforced concrete. I built 2 ramps that lead up to a single "kill lane" where I can stand in the cage and shoot at heads or step up to the gap and sledge each Zed to death (which is what I opted for)

The only block damage sustained aside from some very minor cop spray damage.

As the Zeds come at me, they fall down through the gap in between the half blocks, rarely getting a hit in on one of them. It is nothing to bring a little concrete to repair it, but I didn't even though it through 2 horde waves and it only sustained 500 damage. For increased efficiency, I always keep a handful of barb wire on me to lay down on the last couple of blocks on the "kill lane" so they pile up just before falling and I can smash their heads in easily. Only shots fired were at cops and birds.

I did lay some spike traps down but all they did is rob me of a little XP, then they were gone in about 30 seconds. For 21 day I will probably just remove all traps. I am sure this will be patched so enjoy it while it lasts!!

Yea, no thanks. I refuse to build a base that makes the z's go thru a path over and over again.

If you shoot fast enough they will not reach the end ^^

Do they fall at the half blocks or why do you used them ?

I mean the ones at the upper end of the ramp

Yeah they fall through the half blocks. I have another base that is 2 towers identical to the one in this base with a bridge between. That's my base I use if I don't feel like cheesin' it too much as it requires constant movement and work to keep the horde under control.

Like if you put the barbed wire on the sides so that it slows them down but not damage the wire? Just make sure you leave the heads exposed so that you can shoot them.

Nothing wrong with a Cobblestone base and a Minibike on Day 14.

Powerruns need a not immersive gameplay combined with a good startpoint.

Better dont try to compete with a complete different gameplay style.

Besides that my last longer game

Day 21 (when i left my startbase)

Day 28 / 45

For day 28 forget the Cage, The upper tower, the Garden and the second stairs and imagine that the 9X9 Concrete socket until bedrock was not massive and only 1 block thick

Ahh and dont forget that many people play on 120 min days.

ahh and never forget that its still pure luck.

Get a decent auger early and you rule.

Get no decent auger and suffer

I am doing something seriously wrong. You have reinforced concrete and motorcycles on day 15, I have cobblestone. I need to step up my game!

I play 90 minute days and I have been playing this game for MANY releases. For me, the trick is to build a boatload of rebar frames early on, the it's only 10 concrete mix per frame to upgrade to reinforced. But yeah as someone else pointed out, flag/cobble and a minibike on day 15 is not bad at all. Also, the faster you progress the sooner the tough Zeds start spawning.

Like if you put the barbed wire on the sides so that it slows them down but not damage the wire? Just make sure you leave the heads exposed so that you can shoot them.

I do that further back, but up near the "fall point" i lay the barbed wire down on the ground otherwise I will just catch it with the sledge hammer and buh bye! I just replace it as needed a few times through the night, works like a charm and saves loads of bullets. THen if you have ammo to spare, it's all about the headshots while they are slowed.

We went from zombies circling on thier own to players making them circle... AI sure has improved a lot.

Gotta say this kind of building takes all the fun out of the game for me too.

My base had both

Ramps that allowed me to go afk during a hordenight

Defenses i could fight the zombies if i would want to do so.

So or so, iam no real fan of the Hordenight.

Costs only ammo.

The real danger you have during loot tours or during Farming, Mining, Harvesting

Its all about looting poi's as they generally have the largest concentrations of zombies in them for you to kill. Some of the bigger a17 poi's can have 50-100+ zombies in it by the time you finish it.

Yeah I've never been a fan of horde night either, just costs ammo, and you get even less loot now than in a16, exp IS nice though since they come to you like a x-mas present.

No matter how you swing it, the game becomes boring if you let it. I find that tweaking bases to take advantage of exploits is not only a fun process, but helps expose the things that the Dev team should be working on. Besides, most of the fun of A17 is in the POIs and trader quest system if you ask me.

One of my fav horde base designs was the Grand Spartan arena with just ramps & barbed wire. Forces you to stay on the move and kill the zombies before they get to you. However, with new pathing, as soon as a few barbed wires go down, they all take the same path.
