  1. With the bow, you only have to aim above your intended target if you're like +15m away. Try aiming directly at your intended target, maybe for the crown (top) of the zombie/animal's head when it stops moving, from stealth. Killing wolves is extremely dangerous early-game, unless you have a blunderbuss, OR a regular primitive bow and good aim. After that sneak head shot you can typically hit it twice in the head with a club or knife power attack and it'll die, even on Warrior difficulty. Bears and Direwolves and Mountain Lions are a different story lol... Basically if you encounter one, head to a POI or your base and put a wood frame in front of the door so they can't enter, then safespot them.
  2. Thanks mate ^_^ Well you know how it is, find out what your triggers are and avoid them. I think gaming is a trigger for me, the highs and lows drive me to smoke once the momentum stops and the enjoyment becomes disappointment or anger. I might have to detox from gaming as a prerequisite to quit smoking is my point, and after enough time has passed I can come back to gaming with a fresh mind, ready to enjoy it all the more. Sorry about your parents man, I'll take your advice to heart because I know it comes from a place of real concern and life experience. I used to smoke for years but I only just recently got back into it because my mom did, so since it's only been a week and a half, I'll have an easier time quitting than I would if I'd been smoking longer than this. I remember when I used to smoke tobacco with weed through a bong... Jesus, that was hard to quit all those years ago. It's my opinion that cigarettes should exist, but nicotine shouldn't. It's chemical warfare and everyday good working people are the victims of it.
  3. I'm honestly really sorry I blew up like that. Truth is, today I was trying to quit smoking. I hadn't had a smoke all day, 10 hours. My mom smokes so they're always in the house, and I was having a lot of fun succeeding, and after I died to this bug, it drove me to have a smoke. It's my own fault that I broke and had one, and I have to try to quit again tomorrow. But I don't think I can play 7dtd while I'm quitting... It's too unpredictable. Even if alpha 19 is stable when I'm not in experimental branch, I just don't trust it during this transition to non-smoking. TFP, I love your game. It is extremely fun and I'm proud of you guys for making it and trying so hard to provide a truly fun and engaging experience for us all to enjoy. I love you guys for your devotion and creativity and I know it's not easy to transform your game from what it was to what it is now. And I know these things happen when you change a game. I know it's fickle and unpredictable, that bugs occur when you change a game's coding, and it's not your fault at all. Sorry guys. Keep doing what you do and I know I'll appreciate it greatly when the time comes that I'm no longer in this transitional period.
  4. So I was doing horde night and there's a new pipe bomb glitch happening. I lit the pipe bomb, threw it, then the next one in my hand was ALREADY ignited, and blew up simultaneously with the one I had thrown. I survived it the first time this happened, went "wow... What the hell was that?" Healed, then tried to use a pipe bomb again. It happened again, only this time I died. I play permadeath, lost 7 hours of my life to this bull@%$#. I can handle perfectly fine dying to my own mistake, but pipe bombs were working just fine before this little tweak update. What the HELL happened? Somebody else try to use pipe bombs, see if this bug happens for you too. Thanks TFP, once again your game has let me down. Basic function is too much to expect a whole 7 years later, thumbs up guys. Anyway, my sour attitude aside... This happened in Pregen1, with the world name Cthulhu County. I was on a dirt road near the strip club approximately 500-800 meters from trader Jen. Not pleased. I understand that I'm playing experimental, and that bugs will happen. But you did not configure explosive weapons at ALL in this update, am I mistaken in that? How the hell can you add ambulances and work trucks and BREAK pipe bombs in the process?
  5. Hey guys, fireman's almanac Vol 3 increases attack speed with axes by 5%. My question is, what constitutes an axe? Are Pickaxes included in this? What about Stone Axes? Steel and Iron Fireaxes? I guess the main question and my main priority is, are pickaxes included? That would make me read it I am going to do that, thanks in advance for when the time comes that this change saves my life
  6. This is what I came up with. It's just Wood Frames, Wood Frame Wedge Full Corner Tops, and Wood Frame Wedges, with four centered Poles. It's extremely cheap to make, upgradeable to cobblestone then to cement, and the hatches can be upgraded to Iron. Should keep out bears and direwolves giving you the chance to kill them, just repair hatches as needed. Close 'em all up at night time, you can attack the zeds and beasts through the gap. Lastly, use wood bars as the ceiling, just in case any zeds manage to jump up there by jumping on top of one another, you can shoot them. But since the roof expands over the hatches, that is extremely unlikely. You'll probably never see it happen. Or just cover the roof with wooden spikes, that'll show 'em.
  7. Thank you. I'm gonna work on a new base design to share here, where it's designed to keep bears and direwolves out at night but where you can "Safespot" them so to speak. I was in a trailer and I fought off both on separate occasions by placing a wood frame in front of the door to keep them out while I dealt the damage required to kill them, repairing the frame as needed. So I'm thinking a square-shaped hunter's blind type thing where I have hatch frames as the outermost blocks on ground level, open the hatch frames at night, keeps enemies out while I dispatch them with a club or blunderbuss, or a spear in the event that I'm fighting a bear, since it has the longer reach required. Then maybe digging a ladder down into a cave where I'll have all my necessary workstations and storage. Gonna see if I can create something cool and easy to use and share it with you guys.
  8. I'm going to do my best to remember for next time. I have a question about archery. My bow says 25 damage, stone arrows say 20 damage; Is the total damage of the shot 45 in that case? So with the multiplier of 3.5x from sneak, it would be 45 x 3.5 for approximately 150 damage?
  9. Points are spread too thin bro that's a late-game investment too many necessary perks to get first. I changed it to paragraph format. I just never remember to because I view paragraphs as a superficial thing; We're all taught that paragraph format is necessary to read, that's why people demand it, when really, I have no problem reading and following walls of text with full comprehension. But I was a 90 student in academic/university level english, it was my only strong subject, so maybe that's just a reflection of me and not everybody else. I just view it the same way I view SJW crap where people - through social conditioning - demand something trivial of you that's only significant to their perspective, and isn't necessarily necessary or even important to yours. Maybe some people need paragraphs to read, but I don't, so I can never comprehend why some people see it as required and as a result can never remember to format my submissions that way. Wracks my brain. But I'm happy to change it afterward if someone else needs it.
  10. I found a leveling system that I kind of like. I'm on Warrior, 60 minute days. First 4 points go into strength and sex rex level 2, that covers my melee with the club and makes me able to fight effectively. Then for the first in-game week I invest only in intellect; 3 points into intellect, then 2 points into advanced engineering, 1 point into physician, and 2 points into grease monkey. All workstations and the minibike available. Then I just use whatever pipe bombs and molotovs I got from quests to do horde night while running around, typically after popping a skull crusher for bonus melee damage for my power attacks. This run I got the minibike by dawn of day 7, but I got bounded on by a pack of dogs while digging up a buried treasure, tried to drive away, got away, then thought "I need their rotten meat for farm plots". Long story short I died and now have to start over because I do permadeath, damn shame, but I enjoyed my experience and 10/10 will do it again on a different seed. After that first week of investing in intellect I don't know what to do next, any suggestions? I was thinking continuing in strength investment, getting level 4 pummel pete for extra melee proficiency, then investing in Miner 69er and Motherlode. I tried fists and spears but I find that they, like the knife, don't have enough staggering power to chain headshots without fear of being bounded on by a rage mode activation. I can control the fight better with the club than any other weapon, I find, even against multiple zombies in an enclosed space. Btw, can you buy steel tools and drum magazine mods from the Trader? Wondering if I should read those books, or just sell them and wait until I see them at the trader. Finding the parts for steel tools is kind of a drag, buying them is expensive too. Magazine drums are obviously awesome especially when paired with Magazine Extender, just wondering if I can get drum mods from traders instead of having to craft them myself to see them.
  11. Damn it you guys are right. Horses wouldn't be viable nor would dogs =( It was a passing thought when I saw my girlfriend playing Last of Us Remastered, they had a horse and I was like "Hey, horse" lol
  12. Yeah true enough. I suppose sexuality being as repressed as it is in cultures around the world, it really is what most people in most places think about. But my girlfriend is from Czech Republic, and she said that the culture is way different down there, that the hypersexualization of North American youths far outweighs anything she's ever seen back home. It's not uncommon to see little girls taught to wear dresses and skirts that end at the knees, I think Cuties is trying to imply that the way things are in North America, things are also that way in Europe abroad, an attempt to "americanize europe" in a sense, but I don't think it's true. The sexual proclivities of our culture are likely exclusive to our culture, it's the fluoride and the fake food lol messes with our brains. There are American movies and clothing choices to be found in europe to be certain, but there's also a higher standard of self-respect among the people, a higher standard of parental discipline toward modesty in their children. By the way, I'd LOVE to see a dog companion in 7 days to die. Or something like that. Or a horse with a saddle and saddlebags on it! Imagine your horse gets mucked by a direwolf and you have to secure whatever items were in its saddlebag, then breed/buy a new one.
  13. And don't nobody mention Fallon Fox because that right there is just an example of yet another strong man lol
  14. That's a relief concerning the wheels. I have to admit, most of the workbenches I find are always destroyed, and I have maybe a 5% chance of finding a workbench schematic within them. In the past 3 days of playing, restarting over and over, I've only found 2 functioning workbenches, but I located maybe 25 workbenches total.
  15. TFP, I was wondering if you guys have any plans for vehicle and workstation accessibility in the upcoming alpha. Right now it seems like a player has to spec Int just to have access to workstations and vehicles, because even if you find schematics for a vehicle (Which is already next to impossible given how many books there are to find), you won't have the schematic for a wheel ANYWAY, you'll be forced to find wheels or buy them. Workstation schematics have clearly evidently been nerfed to be extremely rare, which shot pretty much all single players in the foot who now have to spec Int whether they like it or not. So I just feel like I need to ask, what are you guys going to do about it? The schematics for vehicles and workstations are WAAAAY too diluted in the massive list of books available, between all the schematics AND the vol 1-7 series books, it just doesn't work in its current form. My suggestion is to make every vehicle require only one book; A motorcycle book, a bicycle book, 4x4 book, gyro book, and make wheels craftable by default. That way, players could get the huge dopamine rush like they used to when they got "Minibikes for Dummies" back in the day. Find the book, earn the right to make the vehicle. For workstations, I have a couple of suggestions. Suggestion One: Make an "essentials" perk list that doesn't require any specific specialization to invest in. Insert whatever you will; Master Chef, Cardio, Run & Gun, etc, those are my suggestions. But mainly, include workstations too. Suggestion Two: Make workstation schematics the most common schematics in any crack-a-book store. Perhaps for the first 30 game stages, make each book shelf have a 10% chance of yielding a workstation schematic. Anyway I'd appreciate a reply, perhaps bounce off of me any ideas you guys at TFP have had concerning vehicle and workstation accessibility, just for my peace of mind. It'd be comforting to know you guys are on it and recognize it as something that could use light tweaking. I know that the current system kind of works for multiplayer because assuming the Int role is actually a privilege when playing with friends, but it doesn't work for single player, and that balance needs to be there. Please let me know.
  16. Yeah they did, they also added the ability for zombies to damage trees because back in alpha 16 it was basically an indestructible base barring things like cop vomit
  17. How would I go about using Nitrogen without compopack POIs? What settings would I choose when generating the world to have Nitrogen's dazzling terrain generation, without incorporating any non-vanilla POIs?
  18. Yeah compopack has serious drawbacks, like illusory blocks in doorways or windows that don't belong, are intangible, and obstruct your view. If I could use Nitrogen just for the terrain generation, but using only the vanilla POI list, I totally would... But I can't figure out how to do that. I gotta admit, I just watched a video of alpha 1 - 15 that someone sent me in a private message, and I guess I understand now why it's still in Alpha. It's grown so damn much, and it gets better every year. I would have kept some "level a skill by performing the action", specifically for weapon proficiencies, I miss that a lot, I also miss finding one book to craft all the components required for an entire vehicle, like "Minibikes for Dummies". Remember that dopamine hit when you found that godsend of a book? Imagine if you had a separate hit every playthrough for the bicycle, minibike, motorcycle, 4x4 and gyro. I still have a little resentment for losing those things, and if they made Wheels a non-recipe item, and made every vehicle parts book a single book, IE bicycle chassis and handlebars contained to one book, I have to admit, I'd be a lot happier. It always feels like you have to invest in intellect now, but you also have to invest a little into strength, those two trees have too many required things in them like Sex Rex, Miner 69er, Motherlode, Advanced Engineering, etc, which means you have a long delay in single player concerning investing in the perks you actually personally want. If there was another way to make vehicles and workstation recipes more accessible I'd be a lot happier. It seems too difficult to acquire the recipes now, where it was too easy before; They definitely nerfed the chance of finding workstation recipes in their destroyed counterparts. I'm retracting my statement from before, it's clear that every new alpha isn't wasted, and taking their time with it is the right call. But I definitely feel the approach taken by TFP concerning vehicle and workstation accessibility to all players should be revised.
  19. I kinda get his point... I mean this game was supposed to be finished way back in 2014, there's only so long a game can remain in alpha before you start to believe they're intentionally drawing it out to keep receiving grants and secure their employment. Kickstarter or some other funding coming in all the time for TFP, that probably all stops when they leave alpha stages, so they've gotten comfortable. That's like me telling my girlfriend "I know I've been abusive for 10 years but I'm still in alpha stages so you can't expect me to be a functional good man". Sooner or later you gotta just get your crap together and settle on something lol. Quite frankly, after nearly 10 years of development, basic function isn't a stretch to expect from 7dtd, but the framerate got worse lately. Add that to the fact that a zombie can detect you in a windowless room when you're crouched and staying still, just because you're standing in a light... Well, the game's got more basic problems than one. This game, to me, is like a kid with autism with really genius qualities that make you scratch your head and say "that kid is going to be the future of the tech industry, a pioneer of originality and innovation", but you also observe that child crapping his pants because he's afraid to go to the bathroom; Equal parts awe and awww. Anyway if you have FPS problems, reduce your resolution from 1900x1000 down to 1200x700. That's an easy 5-8 more points of FPS right there, just reduce the resolution from maximum downward for 11 clicks. Also, set texture quality to half. Full textures is just asking for lag problems, even on relatively high-end systems. If you don't have a gigazorb high powered computer that you sunk 2000 bucks into, then you can't go all out on this game's graphics.
  20. Naah I totally agree with you, it's very often that you only see farms in real life after leaving the city and traveling into the more rural areas
  21. Yeah you got it. I'm glad that the devs are open to modding and don't discourage it because it keeps their game flexible, like with Darkness Falls and such, how you can implement the now-outdated level up a skill by performing the action thing. I just meant that regardless of which version you play, more POI's is never a bad thing. Barring bizarre things like egyptian pyramids lol, but a few more fire departments, police stations, gas stations, parking lots, airports, etc, gives the vanilla game a more realistic feel and possibly the impression that no two cities are the same. But right now they're hammering out mechanics and progression, it's possible POI tune-ups could come in the distant future and I'm optimistic about it
  22. *sighs and rolls eyes* another person who thinks tits jiggling is offensive to women. Lol just kidding for fun ^_^ I hate the sigh and rolls eyes thing. You're free to say it, this is North America after all, but expect contempt to be met with contempt.
  23. Why don't the devs use Nitrogen or Compopack in the base game? The general consensus is that they blow the vanilla game out of the water. The vanilla game could measure up if they incorporated certain fan-made POI's and Nitrogen's world generation into the main game. Then every second building wouldn't be "burned buildings 1-10", or "crumbling building 1-10".
