  1. What is the latest DF version and where is the download link to that? Can't find it in the first post but maybe I'm blind. Moreover, is it a good time to start a new DF playthrough or is there a newer version about to be released soon? Have not played DF on A21 yet.
  2. Something else: I have mining tools, automatic weapons, athletics all on level 100 / 100. When I find those books, however, they still show the "closed book" symbol, indicating that I should read it. They should show the "open book" symbol instead.
  3. Thank you, that solved it. I cleared all Zs at the fake trader compound - is that necessary in order to solve the quest? Or would it be enough to visit the fake compound and get back to original trader?
  4. DF 21.1 b16, new huge city map that comes with DF: Opening trader routes quest sends me to a fake trader ("Trader Rekt?"). As there is no trader behind the counter, this quest can't be solved.
  5. Some questions: 1) If you use a crowbar or pickaxe to open a locked chest some of the loot inside will be destroyed, whereas if you lockpick the chest you get more loot. This is what a big 7D2D Youtuber says. Is that correct? 2) If you use a power attack, do tools degrade more compared to a normal attack? Do you get more block damage out of a tool before you have to repair it by using power attacks only? 3) I chopped down an orange tree, it fell on my head and severely hurt me. Is that kind of damage new? And still, orange trees need an extra chop compared to apple trees which is weird and probably a bug. Edit: Forgot to add version: B24
  6. Latest DevB24, brand new gamesave: - When HP of orange trees reach zero they fall over. When HP of apple trees reach zero, however, they keep standing and I have to hit them one more time to chop them down. Not consistent. - Some perks say "no laborer class" and I have selected laborer class. I can still pick those perks and spend skill points on them which doesn't make any sense to me. - I get the attached error message when pressing hotkey "r" (take all) in camp fire.
  7. Thanks a lot for the new update Khaine! - (IDC) Added patch to disable zombie crawling because it's janky, broken and causing players to get hit when they really shouldn't. What does "IDC" stand for? Does that change mean, zombies can't crawl at all anymore? Does that mean they won't crawl in front of hatches and beat through them anymore? That would be awesome. - Added -50% damage to all zombie hand items (not animals, not bosses) when twatting the player in the head, as getting one shot by an attack you can't really dodge due to colliders is no fun. Can you explain the meaning of this change more, please? I don't understand what it does. What are "zombie hand items"? - Removed sewing kits from T5 end loot chests and added workstation tools (like calipers and welding torch) instead. Not sure if we need more workstation tools in the world. In DF A20 I was swimming in welding torches and calipers and even now in A21 I have found three of each around day 16 which feels alright.
  8. I don't know, doesn't look like a good solution to me. Basically I can repair whatever level (> 40) I want as long as I don't fully repair it to 100 %. As soon as I hit 100 % accidentally my item will degrade to level 40. Doesn't make sense. An elegant solution would be workstations not accepting items above level 40 at all OR just don't do anything with any item level above 40.
  9. I know it caps at 40. That used to mean that you could not generate an item higher than lvl 40. But that also used to mean that whenever you put an item higher than lvl 40 in there to repair with an item of the same class, it worked. You could always repair above lvl 40 but not upgrade to a higher level. It has never been like now that an item level can decrease. Never before ever.
  10. Workbench B21: Just put a lvl 41 (full hp) and lvl 48 (damaged) fire axe in the workbench as I wanted to repair my lvl 48 one. Instead of a lvl 48 full hp one I got a lvl 40 full hp fire axe. This has never happened before, therefore I consider this a bug.

  12. Vaeliorin is right though. Forge behaves completely different than any other workstation as material ratio is not 1:1 anymore. You could even argue that once iron is smelted it is not "iron" anymore but rather "smelted iron" which doesn't exist as an item in the game. So why should all the smelted iron magically get converted back in no time to regular iron when picking up the forge? As for the forge, it makes perfect sense that you have to craft materials back from their smelted state to regular state if you want them back. And this takes some time. Either that or you'd lose all materials when picking up a forge but getting everything back that has already been smelted, for no reason, doesn't make any sense. Generator and gas comparison is unfit.
  13. Start new random world, teleport to Wasteland, establish your base there, set feral sense ON both night and day, increase difficulty, max out zombies and animals alive --> there you go, you certainly won't wish for even more zombies. And if so, there are mods.
  14. Glad to hear I'm not the only one getting this bug. Also happens if you jump through a 1 meter hole (crouch while in air), after that you are extremely slowed down and unable to sprint.

  16. Can't wait to play DF on A21 so I have immediately downloaded the latest experimental, thanks a lot for that. However, there are only DF maps saying "noPEP" - does that mean DF with additional POIs isn't out on A21 yet?
  17. - Magazines were way too abundant. b317 improved that situation a lot. - I don't know why but I am constantly out of stamina. Maybe sexy t-rex is missing, maybe I don't get enough water, maybe my melee weapons consume more stamina than usual, no idea. But early game feels really stressful, sometimes annoying. - Something is wrong with lighting. I'm in the middle of a big city at 14 o'clock when suddenly a total solar eclipse happens and there is absolute darkness, can't see a zombie standing right in front of me anymore (no headlight yet). 10 seconds later sunlight comes back. A few seconds later total darkness again. This also happens inside of POIs where lighting often does not make sense. Generally A21 is darker than A20 was, which is a good thing in my opinion, but those absurd changes from total darkness to normal lighting at noon needs fixing. Playing 7D2D in a room that can't be darkened completely absolutely sucks now. - Magazines are a nice idea but so far I constantly find better loot than I'd be able to craft. Talking about basic loot from zombie bags and POIs, no trader quests. - Transition from level 5 stone tools / weapons to level 1 iron tools / weapons doesn't feel right. Most of the times I prefer the higher quality stone tools over the lower quality iron tools which does not make sense to me. - Has primitive bow been changed somehow? My aim with that bow used to be extremely good but now I sometimes need like 8 arrows to kill a single rabbit or chicken from a distance. - Cooking is annoyingly slow without skill points invested. - Feels like chance of getting a critical hit has been increased a lot. First hit in the savegame --> concussion. First vulture attack a few minutes later --> infection. Playing on second highest difficulty (survivalist?), personally I like that extra challenge. Even though some very cool stuff has been added to A21 something constantly does not feel right. Lighting, progression, food/water consumption, stamina management... can't tell where those feelings exactly come from.

  19. Which items, apart from the emtpy jars, have been removed from the game with A21?
  20. Just play A21 and see how it turns out 😃 Maybe your group has to tweak things a little bit but that should be expected when participating in an Alpha. If you can't find more people being happy with looting and exploring the map you guys could do burried supply quests to get the magazines as quest rewards from time to time. Or buy more magazines. Or just be happy with slower progression because who cares? If A21 is not for your group (which I doubt) you could always go back to A20 and play another 1000 hours there. So what? Who says players that stay at a single spot all the time on a huge open world map should keep up with levels of players that explore the map, loot and kill thousands of zombies? If I was a builder I'd be happy to craft and build and certainly wouldn't be bothered with my team mates' levels.
  21. In my opinion you are overthinking the whole magazines topic. If you have 10 people looting the whole time simultaneously they will bring back hundreds of magazines to your base per day. You, as the crafter / builder / whatever, that never leaves the base, will read magazines much more frequently than a solo mode player could ever dream of simply because the amount of found magazines is multiplied by the amount of people looting. If your looters don't read the magazines themselves but bring them back to you there won't be any problems, I am sure just from what I have seen in the A21 streams yesterday.
  22. Will that annoying auto turret sound problem be fixed with A21? (As reported here for example) Placing auto turrets for base defense is absolutely impossible if you stay within hearing range as it completely @%$#s up all sounds.
  23. Class quest - Hunter 6/6: Kill any animal (and zombie) with handcrafted rifle. ANY animal. However, snakes and vultures don't count. Doesn't sound correct to me!?
  24. Something else I have always wondered: The quest "The Silence of the Lambs", given by the Scout, only spawns in two screamer zombies. Even if they scream, they don't spawn a horde. If I remember correctly this is the same in vanilla 7D2D. However, this quest is way too easy compared to any other quests. So, if possible, I suggest to either spawn much more screamer zombies than only two or, the better option, make them spawn a horde maybe right with the first scream and then once for every minute they are alive. Dependent on your screamer horde size settings this would be a fantastic quest then. But right now, this quest is silly. Two headshots - done.
  25. My steam does not offer me A20.7 b.1 Stable version as an automatic download. Is that intended?
