I must admit I had 1000s of hours in this game before the AI got changed. Horde night used to be great when you got surprised by a couple of zombies that had 'got in round the back'.

Now they just tend to line up and wait to be smacked on the head, I rarely play anymore.

I miss the random AI so much. I also miss the zombies ability to smell. Night time is now way too easy. I used to spent the first few nights in a dark corner hidden (with my meat stashed away) terrified. Now I just treat the nights the same as days.

This isnt really a problem from the game, its just that you now know how it works and you exploit the game design at your advantage. Its just a normal process and assurance that we acquire over time, in any game of the genre.

They still come from all sides, it just depends on the type of base you have. Case in point, you can watch the Lockdown series from Glock9. He made his horde base in the vanilla prison and although he has an open entry point on the front, the Zs came from various sides and angles and he had to adapt.

I also was afraid of going out at night during my early 7DTD sessions and i couldnt deal with Zs coming from all sides because my horde base setup was deficient. Nowadays, just like you, im comfortable whatever the situation is and my adaptation capacity is much sharper than before. But Darkness Falls can flip that up quite intensily, trust me on that. Its almost like you have to learn how to play, all over again.

I was just looking at some mods, and I found out that Ravenhearst mod has exactly what I'm talking about.

    Cool. :cool2:

    Vehicle Pickup Disable

Realistic weights on vehicles. You can no longer pick up and store your heavy vehicles. Bicycles can be picked up. Be careful while driving and prepare to dig a vehicle out if it is stuck.

That's great! Can this mod be installed as stand alone?

  3. Can we just stick to Navezgane, on Earth? Its hard enough to program and stabilize an entirely destructible map, yet people still aren't happy and now ask to go for the entire solar system and beyond 😆

Please folks, inform yourself better about video game production and understand how complex it is. Or else, you could create your own extra-planetary mod?

As a small tidbit of a suggestion, one could also add more challenging types to nighttime spawns for the forest biome. :) I personally add in feral wights, cops, feral cops, soldiers, and feral soldiers, but one could easily add in radiated zombies for the extra scare factor (cops, soldiers, bikers, etc.). Heck, you could gut the entire list and replace it with nothing but rad zombies if you're a masochist.

That's pretty much what happens in Darkness Falls. You at least get radiated zombies, and some ferals, during the very first night of a game.

  5. First World problems... 😆

Skills and Perks all have a description. Just... read. But then you complain there's too much words. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sorting our loot is part of the game. Given the situation you're in a survival mode, you'd have to gather all sorts of items and resources and you'd have to sort it all. They already added a button to send to chest all similar items that are already in them. So it actually pretty much does what you want.

Wanna have all 9mm and Pipe Bombs together? Put just one of each in the storage and next time you bring some more, just click that magic button and it'll send it all and stack stuff for you. You have a tooltip that appears when you go over the icon with your mouse. But yeah, its too much words again i guess.

If the simplistic 7DTD skill tree bothers you that much, dont ever play Cyberpunk 2077. You'll probably get nosebleed-inducing seizures 🤣

Hey I can sympathize for the OP and these petitioners. I think it's pretty noble & cool their motivations in an attempt, as feeble as it may be, to help this game on console.

I too started on console, PS4, and loved every minute I put into the game. Sure, I was bummed when telltale went belly up & the console version died. I do not blame the Fun Pimps, no one should.

The fact is, the current console version is what it is, still a great game (not quite for Xbox owners).

I bought this game for PC, love it, & will again buy it if & when a new console version is released.

    Unfortunately, that's all we got.

Keep up the good fight OP. Keep spreading the word. No harm in being passionate about this game!!

Being passionate about the game isnt a problem.

The problem is accusing the devs of something they didnt do and blaming them for something they have no control anymore. The problem is criticizing their work and creative process without knowing jack@%$# about how its conducted. The problem is ignorance and failure to acknowledge that, being stubborn and persisting into pushing your wrongful claims, even after being shown plain and clear evidence that you dont know what you're talking about.

The gesture is pointless and will not change anything about the situation.

  7. ***DISCLAIMER : we're discussing things that are referred to real-life situations here. For those who lose their @%$# everytime something like this is mentioned, just keep moving and pretend you didnt see this thread. And yes, we know zombies dont exist. Thanks.***

I did thought about this once. Personally, the only vehicle we should be able to pick is the Bicycle, because that can be done in a realistic way, just like in real life. Without a proper game design adjustment, we could just self-impose the challenge of never pick up any motorized vehicle.

But im wondering here : you argue that picking up the 4x4 and putting it in your pocket doesnt make sense but setting up a station where it would be automatically refueled and repaired kinda contradict your idea, no? Such station is a cool idea in itself but i think those tasks should still be done manually by the survivor.

But then again, developers at major studios have to deal with bull@%$# of another sort from marketing executives and corporate deadlines and work policies... The Fun Pimps much prefer the interaction with the fans even it isn't always pretty. :)

At least here, the most demanding fans only act like they are the task masters whereas the devs at large studios actually have to deal with real task masters.

I understand what you're saying, but that's not my point.

My point is, as naive as it can sound, is that the Pimps achieved something that few big major developers could ever do, with far more means and tools than the Pimps have. The 7DTD community still plays a game that's 8 years old and after every Alpha, the community grows and the game get much more appeal. The game isnt even finished yet and its considered a cornerstone in the genre.

Im saying that its a shame that the Pimps are being given that much @%$# by people, because those haters can't see the achievement i mentioned above, or they do see but choose to be dicks, when they should be humble and stop being dicks. They should stop giving that much @%$#.

The video game industry is brutal, the competition is unforgiving. Studios shut down the following day without notice. CD Projekt Red got it in the nuts really hard btw. Great game concepts are developed over months and get canned for X reasons and the staff is laid off like they're leftovers. And gamers hate that when this happen. We get attached to some games and franchises and devs, and get @%$#ed off when it just vanishes, like we are given the finger. Yet, the Pimps are still rolling well and sound, with, again, much less power than bigger players in the business and to see that they're given so much crap is a shame and quite frustrating. People should just stop that imbecile attitude.

I admire smaller, underdogs who are still going strong in such barbaric business. Sure, there will always people complaining and @%$#ing, i realize that im too idealistic. Yet, this is still the truth. I've been playing video games since about 35 years now, this always have been my main hobby and i did see the evolution of it all, particularly watching capitalism running it like we see today. And i cant accept that devs like the Pimps, or any other indie developers for that matter, get to suffer from such insane criticism. Its ok, it doesnt keep me from sleeping at night and neither does it keep the Pimps from living their dream as well, hahaha! But the reality is that too many people are ignorant and entitled, its affecting the business negatively and this has to cool the @%$# off a bit.

Im rambling way too much now lol. But im saying, if we wanna keep our hobby healthy enough, we have to stick our heads off our asses and come to sense that some people, read artists, just wanna make our lives nicer. The hate is currently going way overboard right now. I guess its the aspect of interactivity that video games bring that give the hater the impression that they have a legitimate right to give @%$#, that something is due to them?

  9. You know what, i changed my mind.

Moderators, dont lock or delete this topic. Its way too satisfying to see the OP being demolished and dismantled like this. Pure joy. Thank you guys 👌

I think im going to print this and get it @%$#ing laminated for posterity.

I will if the OP asks me to but who can tell what @Kyonshi thinks. Maybe they're just thrilled their conversation starter took off and they aren't so concerned about sticking strictly to player entitlement. No need to feel sorry for them if they are perfectly happy with how the thread is going.

I dont mind this. A topic like that is a complex one and sooner or later, there can be people who drift a bit from the main thread, since there's so many points discussed and involved.

My intention was to survey what do people think about the issue i mentioned, more on a moral standpoint than the legal side of it, although i do appreciate the input of some people about that legal aspect.

I enjoy reading the replies and i believe everyone's take about the subject is important. Even the one from those who are going the other way from the majority, like Viktoriusiii, who's demonstrating the kind of mentality i think is fundamentaly flawed and that i was talking about initially. He/She delivers his/her point way less aggressively and with more respect than what i observe on Facebook though.

Its important to know that there's people who think this way because its a golden opportunity to rectify that mentality, which is rooted in ignorance for the most part, with verifiable and documented data, facts and info. Just like you did Roland, with your replies on Saturday during the night. This embodies everything that there's to know about the creative and PR approach of the Pimps. It couldnt be clearer and is the most constructive answer to my initial question so far and beyond.

As an overview of the whole thing, i think its a shame that indie developers have to deal with this bull@%$# when they bust their asses with far more limited resources than major studios. We see the laters launch AAA titles that are plagued with bugs, for 90$, and some of those flaws are easily a result of an amateur, rushed and careless job (hello Bethesda, Ubisoft and CD Projekt Red).

People today are used to have lots of games being released in rapid sequence, on multi-platform. Seeing an indie dev like TFP, who takes its time to build a good game, over years, raise suspicion because it creates a loud contrast with many big titles that come out every 2 years, with sequels. This, i guess, gives the impression, mostly for the haters, that TFP are taking their sweet time, do the minimum required to give the impression they're "working" on something and call it a day, racking up the money. Which of course is monumentaly far from what those haters imagine. And when the Pimps dare to talk about that damn Twitch integration, then the entitled folks burst with anger and stupidity. For them, its a confirmation that the devs dont work on important stuff...

Its not because you can directly talk to a lead designer, through social medias, that they have to submit to your input or worse, to your entitlement and insults.

Video games are an art. Like any other of the seven previous forms of art. You dont ask a singer or a film maker to do like you want, you dont lecture them about their craft when you dont know the reality of it. So its the same for video games.

I love the game. So much  I own 2 copys. PC and console.  My fiancee wont even play with me on console anymore because every time we start a game it's the same BS build a base get set up and basically game over. Once you have the ak console is basically done that's end game at level 15 tops.

Not to mention the constant blood moon every night and the dam witch zombies that respawning constantly so you can never get a moment's peice.  We have waited through all the crap and honestly we have all waited long enough. Its 2021 btw. Last update was 2017 for console well *reasonable* update anyways.

I dont let them block points of views that are legitimate. Sensoring the facts isnt good on them either.

    Time for answers.

Over 11k people have signed. And feel the same way. Why did we pay for half a game?

    Petition link
    http://chng.it/sVxnrT2N

Lol just sign the petition. Over 11k people already have so your like 1%.

you're all outnumbered by satisfied players who are still enjoying the game.

"Time for answers"? I just told you you have all the answers here, Einstein.

@Roland, @meganoth, any other moderators, can you lock this polluting topic up? Thank you very much 🙏

  12.

You're on the official discussion board of the game where ALL the info about what happened to the console version because of Telltale, why it happened and what the Pimps want to do for console version once the PC version is done is available. And yet, you come up here to insult the devs and think you'll get away with it? Real genius move.

Im so happy to tell you that this will never work in your favor, you can solidly count on it. Go away, never come back.

  13. A common fallacy from a lot of entitled people is that they believe they own a game because they paid for it and therefore, the devs of such game become the mere servants of those who "own" it and must abide to each of their ordres.

From what i know, you dont own a game, nor the intellectual property, when you give money for it. You pay for a right to play that game, if i can put it roughly. Correct me if im wrong.

The @%$# storm that happened these last weeks, and also today, when the 7DTD Facebook page posts about the Twitch integration, and the upcoming livestream about it, tends to unleash a horde (lol) of ignorant and entitled people who give an awful amount of crap to the Pimps. Its pathetic to a level that science didnt discovered yet. I know im not the only one to see this. Its either that or the damn console/Telltale debacle that i think i wont see the end of it while im alive.

"The Pimps only work on this @%$#ing Twitch thing and they should focus their resources on REAL content"

"They didnt deliver anything promised. Case in point, the game is still in Alpha and we'll never see a full release"

"The Pimps screwed us all on console and let us down. Its their fault, they shouldnt have cut a deal with Telltale blah blah blah"

The minute i reply to one of them (yes, i know, i shouldnt waste my stamina with this) that the Pimps dont owe anything to anyone, i get served the same insanities, ranging from they dont know how to work and of course, as mentioned, "they owe us a complete game!".

I know i'll be told that the devs indeed dont owe @%$# to anyone and i do know that. Still, im curious to know what's your opinion about the responsibilities a game developer has toward the community, good or bad, that support their titles and what's the extent of such responsibilities, where are the limits, where does it stop.

  14. As far as i know, no biome spawn occurs during a Blood Moon, except of course Blood Moon zombies. You can soak off an entire horde and once you're done, if it isnt 4am yet, you have a biome free of any regular zombies. And since biome spawning is off, id assume Screamers are also off.

  15. I played Apex Legends and this isnt a comparison to be made with 7DTD in all fairness.

Remember, this is a game in developement and character movement is made for a tower defense, survival game. Not instant battle royale action where you have to be in constant movement 99% of the time. Those two games are literaly not the same, in execution, design and purpose.

The movement was way clunkier in long past Alphas and they improved it over time to a decent state. But this isnt the main focus, most resources are steered toward level design, animation, Unity programming, random world generation and general content. The movement is fine for now, for the type of game it is.

This current map I'm on, I'm getting 4 to 6 wide spires that stretch up to 50 + blocks high, I just followed one after picking up a supply drop because it looked like a silo, instead I found this:

    20210810210123_1.jpg

    20210810210127_1.jpg

I also got the same exact glitch in a custom map i made in KingGen. First time i ever saw this.

Funny thing is, it appeared in a game i started in the Sorcery mod. I thought Oh cool, the creator made an evil wizard hideout or magic tower! I thought it was part of a story mission for the mod but nope, its just a lame terrain bug lol.
