  1. Depends what generator you use. The Nitro generator thread is closed, so its probably not the best time to learn that method, but it does give some control. Your best bet now is to look in to King Gen. I would talk to @KingSlayerGM
  2. Andy_Red, This is an interesting prefab. I can probably recreate some of TWD in a map if youd like. Ive got this and TWD prison in a few maps now, but I havent seen the show or any maps for TWD in a few years. If you can provide any sort of map or set up for this, I can probably take the entire area and possibly design it in a way that could be placed into any map. Message me if this interests you.   3. Hi xTamyrAx, glad you are enjoying the map. Most of my maps are usually pretty update proof, but this last update was a little different in that the Pimps did some work on the distance mesh, which is a great thing, but unfortunately has caused some problems with the save games. My recommendation for you be to do a Complete reinstall of Vanilla 19.5, then Darkness Falls 3.5, then run the map. I know its not the best news, but like i said, this was a unique update, and I have a feeling the next few updates for 19 and 20 may be the same with the stuff the Pimps are addressing.   4. Of course I prep my map! Well excuuuuse me mate. You've got 20 posts. Almost no one knows to do prep. What in anything that you said would lead me to have any idea what you know or dont know? If you already knew to do any of that, I would imagine you would have been doing it with Nitrogen like the rest of us for the last 3 years. Good luck with your map.
  5. Nitro isnt abandoned quite yet, but at the rate King is updating, its quickly being surpassed.
  6. Would that just add the radiation to the coordinates of the prefab? I guess maybe radiation could be written to the processed dtm or splat
  7. Easiest way to deal with this in the short term, is to create a vanilla RWG map the same size as the map youve made in KingGen. The file is called 'Radiation.png' Throw that file into your custom map folder and you are done.
  8. There are different types of radiation, or levels of radiation, depends what you are trying to achieve. This used to be easier to do. The problem is getting the other files the biomes etc to line up. In general its no longer worth attempting. I know there is a modlet out there somewhere that allow for non standard sizes, but the same rules still apply. For stability if for no other reason, its usually not worth doing.

Got to spend some time with these guys during and after the creation of this map and had some good laughs.   10. Master Pille, can you look at adding a King Gen list creator? Im not sure Damo is coming back, and Kings tags are a little more accurate on top of it. Ive got a version of Nitro that will work with A20 already, but I probably will only be sharing it with friends. I think King Gen is going to be the defacto city maker from 20 forward.
  11. Do you really feel the need to follow up every single message I write that mentions Compo Pack? Your mixer is not the only mixer used. And the way Nitro spawns things, they do show up close to modern buildings and look awful. Also, did you even try to make these look realistic? Jeepers dude, looks like a 5th grader painted half of this. Also, you can totally use a flat world, you just need to set the map level higher.
  12. Its not always entirely possible. There are a few things to consider. 1 - Overpopulating maps over a certain point bleaches out the terrain and turns the map into a jumbled parking lot full of prefabs. 2 - Compo Pack, which is the default 'community' set has steadily grown, and is set to grow even larger from what Wolf tells me, is reaching a point where you have so much to choose from, that you wont be able to use the entire set in a coherent fashion. More choice is never ever a bad thing, I think it just underlines the fact that its in everyone's interest to learn how to make prefab lists that suit their individual needs. King has some epic plans for customization, and I think once it gets to into the hands of the overhaul admins and more map makers hands, youll start to see really interesting combinations. The latest medieval style set released to CP by VitaminE is a great example. Ive made some EPIC medieval areas, but that said, i dont necessarily want to see those mixed into my modern towns and cities, so i set up accordingly. Compared to where we all used to be, this much variety is really a wonderful thing. *Also, the best way to ensure you get everything, (if thats what you really want) is to use a flat map and just add lakes and rivers. I love making varied terrain maps, but its still possible to make decent flat maps if your mixer quality is good.
  13. Im in the same place really. King has been helping a lot to port a few needed features over. I use a mix of Gaia for Unity and Nitro to create my height maps, but Im hopeful to have all my generation over into King Gen by A20. I agree about RWG having to be something out of this world to compete with what we are all working on. King and I and a few others are talking now about a community repository of height maps, so you guys will have more than enough to play with to probably never want or need anything else. Its taken me a while, but I also think Ive found the right combination of map makers to start doing collaborative hand made maps, which Im hoping will cut down all of our map release times and make ultra unique worlds...

  15. 5k is not a standard size, either make a 4 or 6k. Odd sized maps will always cause issues, I would not bother doing odd sizes at all.

  18. The loss of biomes to make rooms for better textures or other things is starting to hurt. Im a modder, and i just feel more and more restricted as new versions are released. Its been a great run with this excellent game, but I feel like im running out of interesting options for my maps. I will keep working through till final version, but I can honestly see my self going back to A17 in order to get the custom biomes back. Burnt biome is going now too, we are essentially down to 3 biomes and waste for cities and towns. I wish there was a good way to kill microsplat and bring back custom biomes.
  19. 2 ways to do this. Your new prefab will either need to be entered into RWG and tagged with the areas you want it to spawn into, OR manually placed on a map via the world editor.
  20. Hi Dennis, could you elaborate a bit? The tags Nitro uses are a bit less specific than those you would find in RWG, and specific biome placements are not supported generally. All towns and cities are generated from the same basic pool of POI tags without really getting into the weeds and doing a lot of steps manually by hand, which most people really do not want to mess around with. If you are more or less new to this process, you may want to look at King Gen, which is also available here in the Forums. King Gen I think is a bit more player friendly, whereas Nitro is more geared towards the modder/admin type map making sort of stuff. Hope this is helpful.
  21. Was gonna say, I wrote that for the sole purpose of pointing that out. Ive been reluctant to even post a free version, but I have a strong feeling hes moved on to greener pastures. Maybe he will surprise us and pop back in for A20.

  23. Dont necessarily need the source code to put out an A20 version, I just wanted the source code in order to add some features I want. Ive reworked whats already there to a very high degree, my current version is more than capable of handling A20 as i have it now. I want to wait and see what Damo does or does not do, but Im ready to step in to fill the space for the time being. Im also working with King to get King Gen working to a level where i could replace it for Nitro, but I think thats going to take some time. If I dont hear back from Damocles after A20 Drops, I will probably make a non-monetized version available to the community.
