  1. Okay, important question. Do zombie loot bags despawn after you log out of the game?
  2. I'm living in this POI right now... What have you done?!
  3. And as the saying goes, "Never say anything you wouldn't want to listen to yourself.", or alternatively, "Never say anything you wouldn't want someone to say to you."
  4. I'm surprised that they don't have lower HP right now. What's stopping people from making horde bases consisting almost entirely out of bars? You think the pole defenses of old were effective, this might become the new meta unless TFP... Not complaining or taking sides on this, just observing.
  5. I've personally seen tremendous support for this change from the community, but maybe that's just my experience. The top two arguments I'm seeing is that this is great for immersion and that this change should have been made years ago, while others praise this as the final nail in the coffin for melee and cheese bases alike. Note: I'm personally not a fan of the change myself. But I doubt TFP will revert it. Tinker with it, absolutely. Balance it, if need be, absolutely. But now, it is what it is, unless you mod the changes out.
  6. So it would take almost 3 in-game weeks to craft a full stack of steel blocks unless you split them in between workbenches. Not complaining, just making an observation.
  7. I just realized it takes over 2 minutes to craft a steel block... Right... 😛
  8. (Spoilers!) I was watching Kage's video where he died in the green house with all the graves in the basement. I died in that same spot in that same house a few days ago. That place is a death trap.
  9. Sort of. The zombies now beat down on the arrow slits, but otherwise, AFAIK, it's the same.
  10. People can play how they want, all the more power to them, but imo the only types of "cheese bases", by loose definition, are AFKable horde bases where you and potentially your base as well are at a 0% threat level. Plus there is a line. Trenches don't need to be "fixed", but the arrow slit force field bug? Probably. 😛
  11. You see, this is a murky line. What's the difference between an elevated pathway or maze, and a trench around your base that forces the zombies to attack from one point? Aren't they just two sides, same coin?
  12. In my eyes, all bases (or lack thereof) are equal. Judging people for playing the game a certain way is small d-energy if you ask me. The closest traditional definition we have to "cheese" are AFK bases, especially ones that exploit certain blocks, but people can play how they want. It's all about progression, outsmarting the zombies, and getting ahead of them, grasping that advantage. That's not cheese, that's just using the human brain. Lol. But honestly, what's the difference between an elevated pathway base and a moat dug around your base to force zombies to come from one direction? Ever heard of castles before? 😛
  13. In the same definition, fighting the hordes on the street is also cheese. As are tower bases, catwalks, melee bases, AFK bases, every single base (or lack thereof) involves "cheese". (I call it "tactics" and using the environment to your advantage.) It all depends on who you ask.
  14. I'm the opposite as you then. Lol I go big or I go home. People always ask if I have an 8 person server running when they see my solo bases. Haha I'm just going through my old A17 and A18 bases on Imgur right now... The nostalgia is hitting me like a tidal wave.
  15. I feel like I'm one of the only people left who still builds fort/castle/bunker type bases. Haha. (To each their own! Just making a casual observation.)
  16. Thanks for the info, didn't know that.
  17. I just wanted to apologize for my rash reaction earlier. Perhaps I was being a bit dramatic - uninstalling the game and all that - but I still would have left until a mod came around that reverted this change. 😛 Many people are praising it, some saying it should have happened years ago, and while I am certainly not one of those people, that doesn't make the change objectively wrong. It's all subjective at the end of the day. And hopefully my worries about new players being discouraged from building with blocks with less HP is grossly exaggerated. But thank goodness mods exist. I've installed it, I'm happy, anyone who chooses to do the same will be happy, and anyone who is happy with the change, all the more power to them. Everything is well.
  18. It's new players as well. Let's assume all the pillar variants are next on the chopping block. A new player uses pillars to elevate a walkway that they fire down on the zombies from. This new player realized the pillars have 50% less HP than normal blocks. What do they do? Well, from then on they build with cubes, like everything else. Anyway, enough ranting from me. 😛 Just wanted to say I was considering "the little people" (or new players; "little" as in hours wise) as well.
  19. Thanks to everyone who supported me with the links, I'm back to installing the game. Haha. TFP, seriously, take this advice wisely. You have a fantastic game coupled with an amazing community. Most game developers are either greedy scumbags, or they're good, honest people who couldn't ever dream of having something that 7D2D / TFP has. Let players have options. Give people choices when building. Handicaps, no matter how realistic, are never fun.
  20. It's not just for defensive purposes (although perhaps that as well). I was super enthusiastic about building something other than cube watchtower bases. Now those plans are being chipped away, in some ways inevitably, other ways currently and drastically. Why stop at plates and poles? I know I'm sounding paranoid and that is a route I really try to stray away from, but I think it's justified here. I imagine most of the deco blocks (maybe catwalks and bars too) will have nerfs in HP eventually. We'd be back to building with cubes, ramps, stairs, and half blocks. And I understand I can simply build my home away from my horde base and go crazy there, but that still doesn't change the fact that my horde base would be barely any more interesting than a dumpster. Lol It happens all the time. People figure out ways to cheese the zombies, lead them along corridors, use melee-only defensible walls, etc., and TFP go, "This is against our vision. We can't have this." With such an incredible community as this, encouraging variety is surely what they would want, right? Fixing an AI glitch is one thing, nerfing tons of blocks that could be used defensively or aesthetically is another. I never build cheese bases - they're not my type - but imo they're not any less valid than standard watch tower designs. I praise A20 in all other respects (I'd yet to get into farming, so I cannot comment on that), but this... I cannot defend this change, sorry. And again, if it means anything, I don't build cheese or AFK bases, so you can't put me in that category. But I'm just 1 player who is probably resistant to change, so what do I know. I've been meaning to get back into variety gaming anyway. Got a link?
  21. This has honestly been the kick in the teeth for me. This has ruined all of my plans for horde bases, outside of cube watchtower bases. I'm out. Maybe I'll return to the game when a mod reverses this change, but until then, I'll be focusing my sights elsewhere. Chow.
  22. A question about the world gen previewer. Is the orange the wasteland, or is the more yellow-y section the wasteland?
  23. Seed Name: Robin Hood Needs A Medic Size: 8192 Settings: Towns: Many Wilderness POI's: Many Rivers: Few Craters: Default Cracks: None Lakes: Many Plains: 7 Hills: 5 Mountains: 4 Random: 0 Balanced seed with major cities in every biome. Note: Did not look at number of traders or at the POI's themselves, so that's for you to discover. Note: Might be in the wrong orientation. I wish a compass of sorts existed in the world previewer. 😛
  24. I have a busy schedule planned for A20 so far. Standard playthroughs will be the exception, not the norm. Listed below are the various challenges I have scheduled for myself to tackle at some point, 1-2 playthroughs at a time. Nevertheless, I am always open to suggestions and I encourage discussion in this thread! If anyone is looking for a 7D2D challenge and are interested in hearing ideas you may not have conjured up previously, perhaps this will be the place for just that to happen! 1. No Crafting Challenge. Premise: I can only use what I loot or buy at traders. (*Alternate: Hardcore version. No purchasing goods from traders, either.) 2. Robin Hood Challenge. Premise: I can only use bows (and crossbows?) and knives/the machete. (I am still debating if I should be allowed to use electric traps. Shotgun/SMG turrets are immediately out, however.) 3. Focused Attribute Challenge. Premise: I must choose which tree to go down and I must max out all of the perks in that attribute before I can move onto another one. 4. Horde every night. 5. Dishong Tower Challenge. 6. Blood moon frequency 1, blood moon range 7, 60 minute days. Premise: Hordes can happen any time. The standard system that is "counting the dates by the week" goes completely out the window. 7. Vegan Challenge. (Farming will be reverted to A19 levels thanks to a mod.) 8. Nightmare/Insane. 9. Base Day One. 10. *Hospital Challenge. Premise: I must fortify the hospital and use it as a horde base / conventional base. (*Note: Could be switched out for any T5 or even any T4 POI. 11. The Trader's Choice. Premise: Nomad playstyle, horde every night. Every day I must go to the trader, pick a quest for a POI, and so long as I have not used that specific POI before, I must hold down the horde there. Provided I survive I must return to the trader the next morning, and rinse and repeat until my death. 12. No Base Challenge. Premise: I am allowed to plant down storage and workstations. However, I must face every horde night on the streets.
