...And this is extremely disappointing. Well, already vastly posted in General Support. Bug acknowledged, investigated, fixed in exp, fixed in stable and fix released. So it's nothing even remotely new or deserving *further* data than the two-dozens-or-so of threads didn't already cover in detail. But the damage the bug caused is not undone. Devs already know everything about that - including profile binary dumps in some cases! - but didn't provide a way to fix that damage. Pity.

First attempt at running A20.5b2 fails with the drone-induced corrupted profile unable to start the game. Is this new update merely fixing future issues with drones, or it also cleans up the already broken profiles?

Is the fix for the show-stopping drone bug and profile corruption headed to the stable branch, or it will stay in the experimental branch and 20.6/21+? We stopped playing on our server because of it, and we'd love to know if we could expect a fix for the stable A20.4 or lose any hope?

I guess part of the problem is in the drones.dat (the actual drones in the world - removing the file just removes the instances of the drones), but a big part is also the player profile, that becomes full of what the drones leaked in it. Removing the former doesn't undo the damage done on the latter.

The backup is not enough back in time to go BEFORE they got their drones. Re-creating the char and assigning XP is the least - what about known recipes read on books, and finished/in-progress collections?

Tried renaming "drones.dat" on server, restarting it, but no avail - the player that was stuck at game loading still cannot access! Pls HALP!

We're having this issue as well on a character that recently got a drone and one cargo mod - she started having "memory stream not expandable" more and more often (and that means no more playing: once you get the red message, your client is basically disconnected from the server), until she cannot even load the game anymore. I can provide client and server logs, as I own both.
