It would be nice if the default settings weren't the most insecure.

The "Secure" storage defaults to unlocked. Maybe they have stats to support that decision too?

The game is likely played by the majority in a co-op setting with people who pay attention to the settings they are configuring.

This a security feature. The default should protect those NOT paying attention. Those already paying attention won't be bothered nearly as much as the inattentive guy who just got robbed.

im fr considering to learn coding just because i love the game and cant stand the fact that it couldnt be more poorly optimalized.

I think you should go for it. Thank you for caring so much.

More likely because it would allow you to bypass land claim blocks.

Only if designed that way, right? LCB already can regulate block damage, making your base invulnerable to other players. How hard could it be to have LCB also disallow lockpicking in MP? I really don't know...

  4. What hype? It's been mostly silent around here for a while, compared to previous cycles, and the tone has changed. This forum was more fun a couple of years ago. It feels like less damns being given, but I am a confirmed pessimist, so I'm sure everything will be "fine" in the end. Yea, boyeeee!

  5. I love this feature. I would not want it to go away. I often play BM every night and I use it to progress quickly in early game. I log in and out several times during those first nights. Otherwise, the BMs are slow and boring for the first week or so.

If needed, you can just turn BM off before you log back in. After sunrise, log out and turn it back on. This is safer than tinkering with the game clock.

  6. I love No-Trader runs. I just add recipes for all non-craftable items.

For me, the back and forth of the trader system is the most tedious and gamey aspect of vanilla. Just let me take all the missions and go about my business. I'll be back in a week or whatever. Or give me a time limit, or a zone to clear. Anything but this travelling the same road over and over, checking in between each job. I hate it a lot.

In my perfect game, there would be no traders. All POIs would be Clear and Fetch missions, triggered when I step on the property, one-and-done. Buried Supplies missions would be migrated to the Treasure Map system. Kill the zombies, collect all the MacGuffin parts, save the world. In the final scene, I'll be flying my gyro out of the death zone, homeward bound, when I get clipped by the air drop plane and go down in flames.

I never understood the point of most DDOS attacks.

We can only speculate, but in a situation like this, revenge is a likely motive. This person was ridiculed or spoken down to or simply disagreed with, and their ego can't handle it.

If this imagined offense had happened at work or school, this is the same person who would show up later with a rifle.

  8. This is one mod that I add to my "vanilla" game:

Vehicle Cruise Control – 7 Days to Die Mods

It's tiny, it works great, it allows me to play the game properly without pain. Pinky-shift hurts too much.

It has a 3-position toggle and propels you from a full stop without using the drive button (W) at all.

It does have a bit of UI overlap where it blocks the XP pop-up, but it's only an issue when killing with the vehicle. I can live with that.

This mod will work in D0 but I think it's only good for SP. In MP it does not seem to differentiate between your chests and your neighbors. I have not tried to fix it as I don't MP very much.

Craft From Containers at 7 Days to Die Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)

Don't worry about the weird buttons, that's from a different mod I am still working on adding which needs UI tweaking.

I'm not exactly sure, but I could swear I recently got some honey out of a tree stump, despite I didn't read the book that unlocks this.

    Can anybody confirm that?

I don't want to make a bug report before I'm sure, but I just don't want to spend time to further investigate this now.

(still recovering from my recent grass punching duty on the network test server 😄)

Stumps produce honey by default. The book unlocks honey from TREES.

  11. I do not play MP so there may be some obvious flaw in this idea but...

They should add a "Share Knowledge" option beside the "Share Kill XP"?

It would play as if you read a magazine then told your friend all about it.

Then teammates could read everything as they go and never feel the inventory hit.

It seems that this could satisfy the homebodies and den mothers without disrupting the new system too much?

Funny thing, I am one of those in real life, but not in-game.

The rationale is different: You always have lots of bottles with you or available, they are just not represented in the game, just like you have as many gas cans to fill up gasoline whenever you need to. So you find water in a toilet. You bottle it up and voila you have a water jar. You drink it and the water jar is somewhere not shown again.

I loved this rationale. I used it. It made the water changes easy to wrap my head around.

Then they went and @%$#ed it up by returning the ability to slurp pond water.

Drinking from puddles adds nothing to the gameplay, but it creates a logical rub that doesn't need to exist.

If the pond water is the same substance as the murky water in a looted jar, if it is worth sipping from our hand, then the invisible jars in our rationale would be used to collect it and take it home for purification.

Easy fix. Just make groundwater toxic and useless. This gives a valid reason for not taking it home without disrupting the new system in any real way.

    EDIT:

I am editing to be clear that this is a minor thing for me. I am not endorsing the title of the thread. A21 is beautiful.

  13. I spend my nights looting, pretending that I am stealthy.

I set zombie speed to Run/Day and Jog/Night, with Feral Sense set to Day only.

I get chased all day, but at night it makes stealth tactics feel more natural and effective.

It really feels like they can see me during the day but at night can only hear me.
