  1. This isn't directed at Fox, but I keep seeing a lot of comments on the forums lately (sometimes downright toxic comments) criticizing builds that frankly shouldn't be having the issues they're having. We can't rule out issues with the game, especially considering it's in Alpha. In fact, I think it's irresponsible to just assume the user's hardware is always to blame rather than asking more questions about the conditions in which they are occurring and see if there's a way to improve the experience for those users under those conditions. That said, maybe it's the hardware, maybe it's the software, and maybe it's both. We aren't doing anyone any favors if we only focus on one.
  2. My issue is that it takes a lot of meat to make boiled meat, and then it gives you very little actual food. So, what exactly is the point of having the perk to hunt animals if it burns more calories looking for animals than you get from the meat you obtain? Maybe I can put a bunch of points into the perk that harvests more meat, but that's in another skill tree entirely.
  3. So, I ended up running into the problem again today. It seems like it gets worse as time goes on, I'll have to test more and see if I can find the conditions to cause it. I will say that it happens in places where my framerate is usually buttery smooth, and when no zombies are on screen. Today I basically just walked out of the house and bam, 30 fps. If I walk away from the area, it's up to around 80. If I restart the game, 80. The first two were just me playing without any real problems. Walking all over the area where the framerate dropped substantially. The last was around when everything got bad, just look at that 16.8 fps dip. 06-07-2020, 00:51:05 7daystodie.exe benchmark completed, 11901 frames rendered in 140.485 s Average framerate : 84.7 FPS Minimum framerate : 57.3 FPS Maximum framerate : 125.4 FPS 1% low framerate : 42.0 FPS 06-07-2020, 19:44:27 7daystodie.exe benchmark completed, 15479 frames rendered in 178.750 s Average framerate : 86.5 FPS Minimum framerate : 65.6 FPS Maximum framerate : 126.8 FPS 1% low framerate : 42.4 FPS 06-07-2020, 21:05:43 7daystodie.exe benchmark completed, 92788 frames rendered in 1173.250 s Average framerate : 79.0 FPS Minimum framerate : 16.8 FPS Maximum framerate : 102.5 FPS 1% low framerate : 23.9 FPS
  4. Mine has been all over the board. A16 still ran the best for me on the systems I've tested it on. A17 killed one of the laptops we used to use, so we ended up building a whole new one. A18 was about the same as A17. A19 on the other hand has been... odd. I'm seeing basically 1-2 fps difference going from high to ultra. Going from high to medium is maybe 5 fps? So basically I just leave it on high and disable motion blur and depth of field (I never like those on any game). My computer has an older processor that's faster than a Ryzen 5 2600X but a hair slower than a Ryzen 5 3600X in benchmarks but has a much faster GPU (RTX 2070) (upgrading the rest as soon as 4th gen Ryzen is out). The other computer has a Ryzen 5 3600X and a much slower GTX 960. For some reason, I'm having my framerate go from 80fps down to 20-30 fps. The other computer with the slightly faster CPU and much slower GPU was getting 45 fps in the same area. Granted, that one is on mostly medium settings, and I was hosting the game, but it's a little unusual to have the framerate literally cut in half. In one occasion I was just walking down a road, no zombies, nothing crazy. Another I was looking at a hill next to a POI. If I shut the game off and get back in, my framerate jumps back up to 80 fps. Nothing changed apart from restarting the game, and that gave me 40fps back. Here's me running running around a bunch of buildings, thick forest, etc. This is what I'm used to, even though it does dip into 50s or so during heavy horde nights. I'll update this post if I can get it to tank down to 20s again today. Average framerate : 84.7 FPS Minimum framerate : 57.3 FPS Maximum framerate : 125.4 FPS 1% low framerate : 42.0 FPS
  5. PREGEN01 has traders, but anyone that joins my game has "No trader" after the intro quests, even standing outside the trader.
  6. I am also having performance issues on my computer as well. It'll go from 80 to 30 fps in A19 seemingly at random. I can walk down a street one day at 80fps and the next day I walk down the exact same street in the same direction, nothing appears any different, and I'm getting 30 fps. If I shut the game down and start it up again, I'll be back up to the 80 literally standing in the same place. This never happened in A18 unless I tried leveling a large building with TNT or something. I'm also having stutters while I'm walking. I first noticed it in A17 on my wife's laptop before we ended up building her a new system just to be able to play 7D2D. Now I'm having the same issue cropping up on my system. Essentially about every 3 seconds of running, there's a little hiccup. It was super obvious on hers, but it's a slight stutter on mine. Maybe that's the distance I have to travel to trigger objects to load, I'm not sure. It doesn't really show up while looking at a basic FPS counter because it's too quick, but here is what I got from a benchmark just running around trees, water, a few zombies and some buildings. Please note, this is typical, not when I have that huge dip in fps randomly. I'll update this and try to benchmark if it happens again to show you what I mean. Average framerate : 84.7 FPS Minimum framerate : 57.3 FPS Maximum framerate : 125.4 FPS 1% low framerate : 42.0 FPS 0.1% low framerate : 22.7 FPS And before anyone asks, my temps are more than fine. I have a Noctua NH-D15 and 4 x 120mm Noctuas and 3 x 140mm Noctuas in my case. The GPU is basically half the temp it would need to throttle, and the CPU is 20°C under the throttle limit at the highest temp recorded.
  7. Granted, this is an assumption, but I'm not alone in thinking this way. If removing the game from a service like this shrinks their potential customer base, why would so many publishers/developers do it? Usually when something like this happens, there's money changing hands somewhere and/or they're trying to back another service they think will net them more money. I expect that's Stadia. Having said all that, the purpose of my post wasn't to put down other publishers/developers, even though I very much disagree with other publisher/developers' decisions to pull their library off of GeForce Now. The purpose was simply to thank you and TFP as a whole for making a decision that benefits your customers.
  8. Good news, it appears TFP have Opted In after all. https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5026 I also just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone at The Fun Pimps for doing the right thing. A lot of other publishers are choosing greed over the happiness of their customers, so it's heartwarming to see that the developers I've advocated for over the years have their priorities straight. Again, thank you very very much!

  10. It appears GeForce Now is now having to switch to an opt in model, so if devs haven't opted in by the 31st, their games will no longer work with GeForce Now. https://www.theverge.com/2020/5/27/21272558/nvidia-geforce-now-opt-in-agreement-game-developers-publishers-licensing-cloud-gaming So, has The Fun Pimps opted in? I ask because I bought this game for a friend, and his first time playing was yesterday via GeForce Now. I'd hate to have paid for the game for a whopping 4 days of fun.
  11. This is why I have separate peacetime and wartime bases. Peace time base is only really good enough for wandering hordes, but it's fancier and has all of my materials and crafting things. The other base is purely for fighting off the horde. 100% function over form, and if it's completely obliterated, it won't set me back so far that I cannot recuperate.
  12. Oooooooh, I wonder if we could somehow convert some of the zombie models into printable models
  13. Sorry for the delay, work's been hell this week. It looks like something wasn't playing nice with the config file. I copied an existing config file that was working previously and modified it to create a new config file. I'm guessing something must have changed between then and now because none of those configs work anymore. I copied the default config file and made the changes I wanted to make and ran it again. It appears to be working now; however, I do have a lot of questions: This is essentially a private server for me and my friends, so I don't really want the added expense of a hosted server. For the most part, hosting it myself hasn't been too problematic, but my friends sometimes can't connect unless I connect to the server first. I added the dedicated flag at the suggestion of another user, but it doesn't appear to have worked. What is the proper way to do it? Is it possible to set up the zombie speed independently like you can if you host it from the client? What problems could arise from running it inside a hidden folder? I installed it via steamcmd, and that's where it went (I don't know if that's something I can control). If I wanted to move it outside of the hidden steamcmd folder, how do I update the server? This is something of a side-project for me, so I don't mind if I have to jump through hoops to get it to work. If there are other resources for how to get this set up properly, I'm happy to read through them.
  14. Whenever I try to launch the server on Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS, it starts to run, shows eac_server.so [x64] :: OnLoad(), then eac_server.so [x64] :: OnUnLoad() and stops. ~/.steam/steamcmd/7dtd_server$ ./startserver.sh -configfile=serverconfig-custom.xml -dedicated Using config file: serverconfig-custom.xml eac_server.so [x64] :: OnLoad() eac_server.so [x64] :: OnUnload() I've set the EAC setting to false in the xml, so I'm not sure why it's trying to run EAC at all. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to resolve it?
