The trigger system has received some improvements in A22 but how they function is still mostly the same.  Hopefully stealth gets some more love when bandits are worked in, but nothing definite yet.

Something like a check when the trigger is set that sees if the player visited a room within “x” amount of time and not spawn enemies from that section. Could make level design more challenging but I agree with OP, it’s a bit frustrating to get mobbed from rooms you already visited (especially dead ends). I notice it more for infested clear quests in larger POIs.

Although this console footage, this does provide a glimpse of the state of A22 for anyone interested.

Was really hoping with the new hand models that we’d get accurate reloading. But alas my character can still shove 8 shotgun shells into the gun for the action of two shells.

I’m not asking to have to load bullets into magazines, that’s tedious. Just accurately display the number of rounds my character loads into the gun in real time. Then let me use them as they are put in, if I interrupt the reload animation it shouldn’t reset me to zero.

Something like if I pull the trigger while loading the shotgun the character stops and pumps, then I can click again to shoot.

OK....Three nuns are staying at a hotel.

They check in and the clerk charges them $30.00

Later the clerk remembers they were having a sale/discount, and the room should have only cost $25.00

He brings 5 one-dollar bills to their room, but realizes he can't evenly divide the $5 amongst the 3 nuns, so he keeps $2 for himself.

So....The nuns have paid at total of $27, and the clerk kept $2....$29 total.

What happened to the missing dollar!!??

    -Arch Necromancer Morloc 💀

Bad math: $2 to clerk + $3 to nuns + $25 to hotel = $30. There is no missing dollar.

I know there’s no set bonus if I don’t wear the flip flops, but what if I only wear the flip flops?

Lets just say you won't be picking up any of the ladies (or men) at prom wearing that outfit...😁

The thought crossed my mind for the "Bob Cat Bar" POI but decided against it as it was designed as a Tier 1 POI.... 😁

Are hit points scalable with game stage? If so can a POI be set to lower the game stage of a player to have a mt lion in that POI not be as difficult?

  5. With the new armor are all clothes being removed (I’m thinking of all the new clothing racks/piles/shoe pile containers) or is the loot now cloth scraps with a chance to find armor pieces?

From a immersion standpoint I could get behind it if I imagine most of the clothing is unwearable due to rot and moths so you only collect the useable “scraps” to then serve as ingredients for better gear.

I think it would be cool if some of the survivor corpse assets became containers where you would find dukes or lock picks.

Zombison does trip nicely off the tongue. I'd expect a special event where carrying Taza's stone axe causes regular Zombison attacks.

Not native to the region, but Zombeavers are already enshrined in legend from their movie appearance. They would also provide both a water threat and some serious block damage potential.

Would explain how all the zombies became structural engineers. They got bit by zombeavers.

    That's right

We had maple forest which it's warmer and then you had the pine forest that was colder and could even snow rarely on alpha 15 and I think 16

    Kinda miss the snow

The snow was awesome. I loved how it accumulated on everything and I think you even left footprints in it.

I don’t miss needing a million clothes to fight the constantly changing temps. The mini game of trying to not constantly freeze/overheat-even in the maple forest-was a little tedious.

Looks good and the story in the paper is interesting.  However, the newspaper has a typo... :(  Someone should be proofing things before the art is finalized as this isn't the first error.

Middle column of The Navesgane Tribune (image 3):  "Indeed, with recent reports starting that the CDC has fallen...."

Shouldn't have the "r" in there.

And more of a grammar issue in the last column in the same paper: "Martial Law has been declared in many places in the country, and in our own state Arizona similar measures have been taken."

One way to write that would be:

"Martial Law has been declared in many places in the country and, in our own state of Arizona, similar measures have been taken."

Note the comma moved after "and" and another placed after "Arizona" as well as the word "of" added.  It would be even better to make this two sentences:

"Martial Law has been declared in many places in the country.  Similar measures have been taken in our own state of Arizona."

Of course, the question becomes... what are "similar measures" to Martial Law?  If it's Martial Law, then it's not a "similar measure."  It's the same thing.  So...

"Martial Law has been declared in many places in the country, including our own state of Arizona."

Another grammar issue in the third column... "The United States government assures the public that all alive innocent people were evacuated safely..."

Not sure how anyone is "guilty" of being infected but even if you were to want to use innocent, this should then say, "all living innocent people."  "Alive" shouldn't be used in this way.  A better wording would probably have been to say, "all uninfected people."

And what's up with the last lines of some paragraphs being indented oddly?  Is that intentional for some reason, or yet another mistake?

Lastly, "This was not their intention." ....?  What wasn't their intention?  The previous sentence is about the government assuring people that everyone not infected was evacuated with the paper noting that it can't be confirmed if that happened.  So was it not their intention to evacuate everyone?  Or to assure everyone?  Or that it can't be confirmed?  The rest of the paragraph before that is about launching the nuke.  Was that not their intention?  Nothing in this paragraph fits with the final line that it wasn't their intention.  That line makes no sense in the context of that paragraph.

I suppose you can say that these are errors you might see in an actual newspaper and so it's intended to be more "realistic" by having them, but I doubt the mistakes were intentional (except perhaps the indents, though I can't see why they'd do that intentionally).

Grammar and typos are not exactly a big deal in a game where you really aren't reading things like that and might not even see it clearly enough in the game to read it there, but I think it's still important to proof the art to avoid mistakes.  The buttons on the vending machine were another mistake that didn't get seen until it was finalized and shown to us and now they won't correct it (probably).

    ----

Then we get to the fourth image (the second picture of the Navesgane Enquirer).  Is the virus "septdiurnal virus (sdv)" or "epidiurnal virus (edv)"?  The papers don't match.  Two artists making two papers and don't have the correct information to make them match?  The virus name really should be correct.  It probably should be septdiurnal, or 7 Day, virus.  Epidiurnal doesn't really make any sense.

It's also strange that we have President Lewis Wagner and the Minister of Health, Brian Wagner.  I suppose that is intentional... or is it yet another mistake caused by two different people doing the art for the two different newspapers?

IMO, the typos make it more real. Have you read a newspaper or online article these days? Editing is for chumps. It’s all about volume these days. Gotta earn that sweet ad revenue somehow.

  9. Will they have to make physical copies of 7d2d for console? Or is it all hosted on a central server now that you download? Could explain the delay in a diary? Also if it’s cross platform will they have to revamp the forums to not segregate the two platforms?

That would be kinda cool but. Tbh I would rather then do something that's more.... constant, the farmer is fine but how many people would be dressed as a football player to cheerleader.

I would rather have like a solder in just BDUs, or maybe zombies wearing sports jerseys

Idk, if I was bitten and knew the end was nigh, I’d don my Totoro pajamas and hide out in an armoire of an elaborately staged mansion basement sub-level hidden research station. All my clones would do the same thing and share all my thriller dance moves too.

I think (hope) the POI Screamers are only meant to give you a mild heart attack rather than summon zombies. So far in A21 I've only come across one POI screamer, in Navezgane Hospital. It kind of seemed like she was there to represent an undead patient, so they may not be meant to be able to summon additional zombies.

Ah yes that is where I found them (4) as it was an infested clear quest I was doing.

The demos were in the loot room of another tier 5 (tier VI infestation). There were an insane amount of enemies, but luckily the whole volume didn’t spawn and wake up so I only had to face the two alone. I’ve stopped running into those large “it’s a trap” rooms and started dropping two sledge drones at the entrance and electric batoning the mob as they hit my bottleneck.

First play through where I only perked into one tree, only did one skill within that tree to maximize magazine discovery, and really stepped out of my normal jack of all trades style of play. I thought stun batons were dumb. They are not and the repulsor mod is amazing. Pleasantly surprised with how I didn’t “need” those other tree’s perks to have fun.

@Old Crow is correct, screamers in POIs are not the same as Screamer scouts.  They are just another zombie model at that point.  Similar to if you were to mod in screamers as a variant in the blood moon hordes or a wandering horde.  The screamers that spawn in other zombie entities are when the game manager spawns in a scout to investigate some heat activity.

So in the case of POIs, they are functioning correctly.

Is there a way to have them spawn as scouts? I had no success back in A17 when I tried. I could get other zombie types to spawn as scouts (which is interesting and can catch you off guard), but I could not get them to work by just editing the xmls.

  12. Oh I’m glad grace is getting an upgrade, and I’m really glad the other animals are getting re-worked as well. (I just hope the associated AI and movement matches the hard work being put in the models).

I guess I don’t understand how entities work as a whole in the game, is it a resource thing or a time thing preventing variety?

btw @Laz Man are you the one incorporating the demolition zombies/screamers into the new POIs? I love it! I just wish the screamers functioned correctly when spawned in like that.

I noticed when I dabbled with modding that if I added screamers they just functioned like normal zombies and only if they are spawned due to the heat map threshold do they trigger additional zombies. (I could also just not be doing it right, but the ones I came across in a POI also did not spawn a mini horde outside)

Not planned currently but could be a possibility post gold.

That makes no sense IMO. Why retool an entity (Grace) that currently exists in one POI (AFAIK) and doesn’t spawn elsewhere during regular play through (at least I haven’t encountered it), but have no plans to make two zombie types that can be used in the schools, football field, and just generally have more application vs time spent creating.

I suppose Grace could be scaled down and be another animal in the wild, but I would rather have a zombie to match more of the common POI types (Fire dept, ranger station, farm, school) than another niche entity. Even just adding a male and a female version of the current entities would be enough variability.

  14. I think you can help balance out the OP quest rewards or finding gear that is above your current crafting skill level by making it impossible to repair until the player is at that skill level. They can use it til it breaks and then they have the choice to hang onto it until they can repair or try to find another or craft a lower quality version.

  15. I think someone was asking about this earlier, but they were misunderstood. Can we get the ability to custom edit the percentages in the world prefab editor instead of the arrows to increase and decrease percentages? I want 60% plains, 25% mountains, 15% hills. I should be allowed to type those values instead of playing the "mini game" decreasing one, then the other, then the other, then the other, before finding out that I cannot do it at all after 15min of trying. Guess 62% 15% 23% is it...

A percentage counter for the math impaired showing the total should suffice. If it doesn't equal 100%, throw an error.

This should go for all percentage-based terrain options.

@faatal (or anyone else with info): Regarding the bandits. Are there going to be female bandits? If so, are they getting their own vocal sounds, like female equivalents to the "malehate" sounds for the male bandits?

ooh, and since there's a lot of schools they really need to add

    Spoiler

thought I was gonna say it didn't you.

  17. Lanes, crosswalks, curbs, and signs were far more important to immersion for me than whether a car rusted appropriately. I'd rather have more zombie models, but if that's not feasible I think randomizing their gait would be sufficient so when you get a wandering horde it's not 6 Marlene's approaching in sync 'thriller' style.
