Large overhauls like UL are designed so modding them is very difficult.   I have never played UL so I have no idea how to begin making a compatiblity mod.   Other overhauls are working on adding this mod to their overhaul but you will need to reach out to UL to see what his plan is.

Subquake said that he has a plan to implement NPCs, but he plans to create his own C# code base for it, so this mod will most likely never achieve official compatibility.

I did have an idea of bringing back the combining items function, except with minerals and rare ores that are mined, with a small chance of getting gold, actual alchemy!

You know, I must admit that I do have mixed feelings about magic potions in the zombie apocalypse world, but on the other hand I admire how much extra work you've put into it and also it looks cool.

Speaking of combining items / experiments with various materials, I think it would be pretty cool and unique game mechanic, you should definitely explore that idea further. I'm thinking of advanced possibilities with research. I mean we do have that chem station in the game already, but I always found it kinda lacking compared to some other areas of the game. Perhaps we could really explore it further and expand it with more stuff and even experiments with combining various materials to find new recipes and potions that would give unique effects to the player, maybe even some negative effects if the players don't really know what they're doing and who knows, maybe you could eventually find a cure for zombies. :D

You can get a random spawn repeat when a spawn block is in a 'dip' in a road surface but its quite rare and can depend also on the vehicle collider height ,   i will check out the oldsmobile.

At some point will move over to either a full c# code based spawn system or use the new gamevent system when that works properly in multiplayer .

    Ragsy !!

I for one can't complain. I was driving around with that little MotoGuppy until it was almost completely broken and out of fuel and then I found ... an ambulance. :D Well at least it has bigger storage. :D

Is this update just for NPCCore, or Score and NPCCore, or Score and NPCCore and Packs?

In other words, what exactly do I have to download and update to use this and keep everything else also working?

If you are unsure, always check out the github repository to see what has been updated and when exactly (you can find that information for every item on the right hand side in the repository list).

This time it looks like only NPCCore was updated 20 minutes ago (at the time of writing this post). If you haven't updated SCore in a while, you may want to update that one too as the last update to it was 21 hours ago.

why would you want a baker hireling that cant bake yet?

Well, the last time baker tried to bake, we started seeing burnt zombies. He may not be the best baker, but he must have been doing something right, since he became so popular.

Edit 2: Only Baker doesn't seem to work. Tried with the Nurse and it went fine...

This is a change by design. It surprised me too, but in the base mod itself there are no hireable bakers or hireable Harleys at the moment.

    Looking great so far!

    A little feedback:

the name when you look at NPC should match the name you see in target health bar

the gun sounds are too loud

the harley quinn sounds are too loud and sound like the pitch was raised, very immersion breaking

more to come i am sure after tonights playtest...

Target health bar? Are you using special mod that displays it? SCore was enabling health bars by default, but it was reverted in one of the latest versions, so if you're definitely not using a specific mod for this, you're probably not using the latest version of SCore and in that case, you should update it to take advantage of the latest features including performance improvements and various fixes including important fix that helps to prevent the infamous bug (well in most cases anyway) which causes NPCs to fall through the ground, making you lose hired NPCs forever.

    What about raider girlz friendly?

everything was working fine until this update, now on the existing save when i look at my existing hired npcs that come from the friendly pack, there is no (E) prompt and i cannot interact with them, however the ones i hired that are part of raider girlz core work fine...

gotta have my friendlies so it's a deal breaker, gonna roll it back until i get a response here...

2-RaiderGurlzPack_Friendly is now updated for a new version of NPCCore. Enjoy!

Hi. I maintain the friendly raider gurlz. I'm sorry for trouble. Long story short, sometimes updates of the base mods break working code of the mods that depend on them. I'll have to take a look at friendly raider gurlz and see what can be done to make them work again in this new version. Thank you for your patience.

So how do the brain stimulating devices replicate themselves and move over to the next guy bitten by a zombie? What is their energy source? I don't doubt that brain stimulating devices are possible, but I don't really see how they would explain zombies, neither Romero's nor the ones in 7D2D, without resorting to some form of magic.

"Some form of magic". Ah yes, when people couldn't explain the storms, they came up with a simple "magic" explanation: God's anger... I'm simply trying to give reasonable narrative to the whole thing, you on the other hand are simply dismissing obvious gaps by "magic". Have you even thought of what would be the reason for zombies to eat human flesh and brains in the first place? Reason why I ask is pragmatic, as the same explanation may apply to question "what is their energy source". If zombies need to eat human flesh and brains to keep the virus alive, why wouldn't it make sense if chemicals produced by the virus as a byproduct of processing such "food" eaten by zombie served as the source of energy for nano device inside the body that would control the "thinking" of the zombies? You already got the answer to question how would they replicate. You seem open minded about the virus spreading simply by bites, and yet you can't imagine how would nano robots replicate themselves and move over to the bitten person? How about this: the virus itself is a carrier of nano materials and instructions to build the nano robot encoded in its genetic information? Have you considered that? Destroy the device itself, it would be built again, kill the virus, there will be nothing left with the instructions to rebuild the "thinking" device.

There is a simple fact nobody can get around: Science can not explain zombies at all, they are impossible in reality. So even your suggestion "Pair it with some other shenanigans, like mutations, help it with some sort of external brain control device maybe, and it would make sense, " is utter nonsense as well, sorry. Zombies in reality are impossible any which way.

Now the interesting thing is to "explain" zombies in a way that it NEARLY makes sense if you squint a little. Your explanation of external device or mutations is just as much squinting as a virus (or fungus, thanks The Gronk) that somehow provides oxygen or something else that substitutes for oxygen. All those explanations need some magic at places hopefully few people know much about so they get hoodwinked into believing it, at least in a game.

Now this is subjective, sure, but a virus to supply some sort of energy to the brain sounds more believable than a virus have nearly the thinking power of a dog. And moreover it is the perfect explanation for the zombies in 7D2D as any level of intelligence can be explained by it.

So you say brain stimulating device (which already exists) is a nonsense, but at the same time you can accept some unexplained "magic" that would explain zombies... Right... :classic_laugh:

I'm sorry but on pc, i have not had days of building erased, or half a base disappear taking all storage, work benches, forges, farms and chem station with it   because the chunk reset itself, if it has happened on the pc, l bet it was patched pretty quickly.

On console this still is a when not an if problem, the work around helps a lot but did not fix it. and after grinding your butt off for 7 days in game, it's a little soul destroying to see the screen go blank, the game freeze and everything vanish, the Tell Tale rep kept claiming they were "consulting with the fun pimps on it", that they were working on a patch (bs),  after 7 bases i gave up and moved to pc

Pc version has its own problems, including those related to chunks. Sorry, but Tell Tale is gone, and so is your chance of getting the current console version fixed. Your best bet is to wait for TFP to finish the game on PC, because that's when the consoles could realistically get a second chance, if TFP can establish another contract with a stable company which could bring the game to consoles again.

You should maybe first find out what "death" exactly does to the brain before you try to shoot down a theory: https://www.livescience.com/61876-dying-brain-depression-wave.html

One thing the article alludes to is that oxygen is the (main) fuel that operates the brain (I'm pretty sure there is more to it, but on a layman level, this is the answer)

As you can read in this article the virus would have at least 5 minutes after death to provide either oxygen directly or something that fullfills the same function. Now how it does this is the magical part, but this is the only way the brain can still operate after death.

The virus is not capable to restore blood stream into brain to supply the brain with more oxygen and we all know that without oxygen the brain would soon die and there's no return. Nothing else would work either, the virus can't magically change how the human body works, certainly not to such extent as to modify its biological processes and what kind of chemicals it requires to function properly, so no other way would work to keep the body somewhat alive. Funny, the article which you linked to explains why what you say would be impossible, so please don't believe me, just read the article... :)

You are still assuming here that the virus does the thinking. But the idea is that the virus is just providing the fuel for the brain to work at a very basic level. We all are agreed the virus itself can't THINK itself, but lets assume its evolution found just the right virus code that makes lower brain functions work and its deactivation of SOME brain parts leads to a behavioural change as well.

Now even that theory is vastly short of a real explanation: How a body can work without blood pumping through the veins and where the energy to operate the body comes from?

But at least it makes a valiant attempt at explaining the brain function of any type of zombie we seen in movies.

Dead brain is a dead brain, there's no fuel that would bring it back to life in the first place. Also, at the time of death, the virus already has to be inside the body, don't you think it would take over the control long before its host dies?

Quick Question: Is there a way to change the limit of 21 Attribute increases from reading the SPIFSAL books in the beginning by editing?

Where would I find this in the files? Thx Guys.

It's a limit hardcoded in each of the SPIFSAL book, so you can change it in items.xml, preferably by patching it with your own mod rather than editing the file itself, otherwise every new update to Wasteland mod itself would revert that change and you would have to change it all over again. If you don't know how, this would be a good start if you want to learn.

To play devil's advocate, imagine that the virus lives in the nervous system and only sustains enough of the brain's functionality (as part of its own lifecycle) for the more feral, base, animal instincts and motor skills to function. With a more exotic version, higher brain functions ("fire bad", "food always in houses", "redheads taste good") might still work even if there wasn't a functioning consciousness anymore.

For this to work, it would need more than just the information of what tastes good and what tastes yucky, and virus alone wouldn't be capable of that decision making, i.e. "Leave that rock alone, that's not edible, go after that survivor's brain instead."

Chickens can learn what tastes good and they eat it every time they have a chance, but their brain is the size of a peanut, so certainly not something so small you cannot even see it with a naked eye.

Works of fiction are simply different.

When people mention "Romero zombies" most don't realise that this does include zombies smart enough to ride a horse or fire a rifle.

Everyone has their favourite book/movie universe but that does not make it any more correct than all the others. 😃

I always found those "smart zombies" creepy and unrealistic, at least those from the same or similar universe of the walking dead where the narrative was clearly that a virus came to life in their already dead brain, so the brain itself couldn't really "think" on its own and instead the whole body was controlled only by the virus. I can't really imagine how the little virus that is I don't know, couple of nanometers in size could handle the control over the whole body and still have enough of its own "thinking capacity" to "think smartly" for the zombie as well. Pair it with some other shenanigans, like mutations, help it with some sort of external brain control device maybe, and it would make sense, but the virus alone controlling the body while thinking smartly for the zombie is way off.

It’s still just entities. Every case you listed showed entities. A falling block is different than a placed block. Regular blocks are not falling off the world.

Give them some time. ALL fixes are “supposed fixes” until they bear up under rigorous play. This is what experimental is for— to determine if the supposed fixes did in fact fix those things on a large scale. It’s not advised to just assume that if something is in the fixed section that it truly is forever fixed and done. It takes testing over time to determine that.

So it's all entities, that doesn't mean it's ok. This fix was believed to be a general fix to prevent this issue in all cases, including but not limited to entities, so please don't knuckle rub my head for putting that out there, I'm just trying to help to get this really fixed for all of us. I simply did my own test and this is the result, I didn't make a bug report since this was a modded game, but now I see it was not reported only by me, so it's clearly still happening in vanilla game as well. I just wanted to make sure that devs are aware of it, that's all. :)
