The question to ask is simple... How much worse would the 1.0 of 7DTD have been if TFP had NOT done early access and taken this long to develop it?

This game is awesome and will be incredibly awesome by the time it ships.  Those us that have been playing for years are, of course, going to be more challenged to keep finding the fun in the game.  But I can say in my own experience that I have more hours in 7DTD than I have in any 3 other games I've played combined... ever.  Excluding some MMO's in my younger years (I'm looking at you EverQuest 1 and 2).

God I miss the original Everquest. :(  What server did you play on?

      Reveal hidden contents

I'm sorry but that "PTSD TRIGGER WARNING" was not enough warning for the horror you unleashed when I clicked to reveal the hidden content.  I may have to make an extra appointment with my therapist because of you. I hope you are happy. 🤬

Is it possible you have the 32 bit version of Java installed? If so, try the 64 bit version. https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Programs running in a 32 bit Java VM have a lot less memory available.

  5. Because I screwed up and thought the 2 pieces of meat was my doing and NOT a vanilla thing?

EDIT: Fixed now anyways. Halved the fullness since the wellness is only minor.

And meat stew NEEDED nerfing because it's literally all anyone will make once they can make it.

Hehe. :) That's been in vanilla since one of the A16 point releases. I remember people bitching and moaning about it on the forums.

  6. Tried several times in different ways, won't install no matter what. Keeps saying it's "not supported on this operating system". I run win 8.

But don't put any more thought into this, I think that somehow my computer is fu.... up. I'll sort it out someway.

8 or 8.1? They don't do any kind of patching to Windows 8. They stopped that not long after 8.1 came out.

  7. I think your saves will be stored under your %APPDATA% folder. I'm not familiar with Steam Back up or restore. Do you know for certain it actually backs up your local saves as well as your game files?

Unless they have completely rewritten the backup feature on Steam it doesn't touch your game saves. At least it didn't the last time I messed around with it.

  8. So you feel an appropriate expectation is that when you press on Test Mod Sync, it updates, regardless of whether Refresh Mods Automatically is selected? I do agree with you, but am curious about how widespread that thought would be. I am sure the majority of users have Refresh Mods automatically, so it probably has little effect.

I'll look into adjusting the code to allow 4 to work as you expect.

If you make that change I would suggest changing the name of the "Test Mod Sync" button. Most people don't expect a button labeled "Test" to make actual changes to their system.

  9. Is there a way to get the mod launcher to start Mods over Steam Link? I rarely sit down at my PC and play 7 Days to Die, I usually stream it over Steam Link to my TV and I really want to try War of the Walkers MOD.

    I think this would work.

Gotcha. Here's the link the exe: https://7d2dlauncher.blob.core.windows.net/installer/7D2DModLauncher.exe

This just calls the application's OneClick program, and will allow you to add it to Steam, and run as Administrator. Give that a try. You can copy the file anywhere, and run it. It'll use your previously installed 7D2DLauncher.application too.

  10. The C:\7D2D was selected because everyone has a C:\. It does have it's issues, to be honest, but it's a consistent place. The Anti-virus seems to be targetting the actually installer, vs where it's installing at.

Yeah, after I posted it I tried to think of where I would've defaulted it to if I was writing it and decided that I would've probably chosen the steamapps directory which is a MUCH worse place to use as default so straight under C:\ is probably the safest choice by far. :)

Like I said, I really love the app so thanks again for all the hard work you've put into it.

  11. Just downloaded and installed the Mod Launcher. I love it so far and the setup was extremely easy.

If I could give you one piece of advice, it would be to change the default directory from being directly below C:\. That is a bad place to put files and could eventually lead to issues with antivirus software deleting/quarantining files. AV software is a lot more picky when scanning files that don't go into the normal directory structure in Windows.

I know I can change it but I didn't notice until after I had installed several mods. It's not a huge deal but it really isn't the proper place to create directories.

Thanks for all the work I'm sure this took. It is a really nice program and looks great.
